Hi-Tec

Hi-Tec Logo
Hi-Tec® Sports was founded in 1974 in the appropriately named village of Shoeburyness, in Essex, England. The company´s original success grew from the breakthrough design and development of Hi-Tec's first ever shoe, the Hi-Tec Squash, specifically designed for the then fast growing game of squash. An industry benchmark then and now, few shoes in athletic footwear history have recorded unit sales of over 18 million pairs worldwide to date. The Hi-Tec Squash shoe remains Britain's all time best selling sports shoe model to this day.

It was not until 1982 that the Hi-Tec brand name and logo were globally launched as a result of a decision to become a major worldwide sports brand. The innovative, successful global development of Hi-Tec shoes became a casebook study at a prestigious university. Today Hi-Tec is proud to report that there are over 500 Hi-Tec styles being commercialized throughout 80 countries worldwide, under the Hi-Tec Outdoor, Hi-Tec Court, Hi-Tec Golf, Hi-Tec Sport, Urban collections and Magnum shoe brands; a whole family of great products for sports and footwear enthusiasts.

Hi-Tec almost singularly focuses on developing attractive, comfortable, lightweight, high-quality shoes at a fair "true value" price. Hi-Tec applies high technology build processes and leverage innovative materials to ensure the ultimate in comfort, whether your needs are performance-oriented, or more leisure wear centric.

Hi-Tec is: easy, friendly, contemporary, comfortable, and accessible.

I wish these had fit. Hi-Tec makes such a good looking leather hiking boot. I have an old pair of Hi-Tecs from years ago that I loved. I have a narrow foot, but with the addition of a green superfeet insole and a Dr Scholl's foam insole, I was able to make them work. But the last couple of years, the right shoe has been rubbing a blister so it was time to replace. These were just too big overall, and even with the addition of the two insoles, they still slipped at the heels. Two quibbles: the laces are not long enough (not usually a problem with my narrow feet) and they are made of a material that is going to slip and come untied.

I took other reviewers advice and got a half size larger than my normal size, (same width as normal) and they fit perfectly. Very comfortable and feel like they’ll be great on day hikes.

I usually wear a 10.5 to 11 size medium width athletic shoe to ensure good toe clearance. The Hi-tec shoes instantly rubbed against my big toe, without even trying to stand up and walk in the shoe. The shoe was also uncomfortably more narrow than the Columbia shoes I also tried. Whatever shoe-last Hi-Tec is using, it certainly isn't anything close to the Columbia shoe. The final insult was the cut of the high ankle cuff was awkward and fell in a truly peculiar location on my ankle bone. For comparison, I ordered a pair of Columbia Newton Ridge Plus Waterproof Amped boots in a nearly identical style as a size 11 at the same time as these Hi-Tec boots. The Columbia boots fit perfectly and provided enough clearance at the front of the shoe so that my toes did not bang into the front of the shoe when I walked. The ankle cut tapered correctly for my foot and did not cause discomfort. If you have a need for a wide toe box or your foot is not particularly narrow I would definitely not try to squeeze into these shoes. The styling was very nice and they seem sturdy, however you'll need to order way up on these and, of course, they top out at 11. That's assuming the ankle cuff fits you better than it did me.

Felt at least a full size small, if not a size and a half small. If that is true of the brand, it explains why my son refused to wear his Hi-tec boots last year after the first wearing...

Shoe fit too snug to wear. Had brused toes by the end of the night. Love the design and feel Of the boot otherwise. Very stylish and secure. Wish they fit because I would have kept them! I am a size 11 so there was no way to trade up a size.

i returned these shoes after a quick try on. the sole is very thick & high, felt like i was wearing platform hiking boots. the boot also felt very stiff around my ankles. might have loosened up after wearing but didn't like them enough to give it that chance.

Beautiful boot, haven’t gotten a chance to use them yet. They are pretty wide and do run a half size big, but that’s no problem for me because I wear thick socks. Love the look and feel of them and a great price for hiking boots as well!

These boots are nicer and feel of higher quality than the description or images indicate. I'll find out in a month or so just how tough they are. Removable insoles are always de rigeur for all but my dress footwear, and these feel good and washable. Compensating with thicker socks should make them warmer when "cold" is an issue. They were the correct size because I took the admonishment about "half size too small"(50% of buyers) seriously and ordered a half-size larger than my usual size 10.5. The width was perfect as stated on shoe.

Smaller than the other Hi-Tec Altitude size 13 which means the 14 will be too large. A shame because this boot is nicer and has FLAT laces - much better than round laces!

Loved the look and feel of these boots, however, they run small. I normally wear 6 to 6-1/2, but other reviews mentioned they ran small, so ordered the 6-1/2. Even those are a good 1/2 size too small.

I only test drove these around the house. They really look great. The upper portion of the boot was really uncomfortable for my ankle, probably because the support is so effective?! (I don't hike much either) All else, worked spot on! Hated to return.

I wear an 8W normally in most brands and this 8W is a bit too narrow. The real problem I had with this boot is that the right boot arrived with the lining wrinkled across the little toes and hurt to even put it on. I returned it as defective.

I ordered a 7.5 W, and it was just a bit too small overall. The 8 would've been too big, I think, so I'm looking at other brands. Otherwise, very lightweight, nice looking, seemed like a promising boot for someone else.

Too short. I normally wear an 8 and my big toe hit the end of this boot. Can’t really comment on comfort because the boots were too small to even take the effort to lace them up.
