Frye

Frye Logo
The Frye Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England. Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye® boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of America’s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-America war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Many New England families during the mid and late 1800’s wore Frye boots as they pioneered across the country to the West.

Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.

In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.

The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I love Frye products. This is a beautiful, stylish, well made backpack with silver hardware at a great price! However, for me personally, it was a little bigger than what I was looking for as I’m petite. It’s still on my wishlist...

great shoe, if it fit. Disappointed. Love this shoe. Normally wear either 5.5 or 6. This in the 5.5 was way too big, almost a whole size too big. Would need either a 4.5 or 5.

Great fitting, great looking casual boot that fit tts. Ordered in the olive, but unfortunately the color was a lot brighter green then olive and they needed to go back. Definitely will order in the black or brown as it's a perfect all around boot.

Nice looking shoes, at first sole felt marginally comfortable, fairly well padded. Felt fine out of the box walking around the house. After walking on my first long walk, these gave me a hot spot on my right pinky toe. I don't really have this problem with any other shoes. I am bummed I paid this much for a shoe and they are too uncomfortable to wear. They will look great on my shoe rack.......

Backstory - the purse my husband gave me as a wedding present basically disintegrated after 11 years and I had to replace it... I tell this story because that was an expensive purse I couldn't possibly replace now and I was devastated :( After going to countless shops, I couldn't find what I was looking for (neutral yet classy, big but not bulky) and after checking out Zappos all the good reviews on this one, I decided to go with the Cognac version of this purse and I LOVE IT. It's very roomy but not bulky, looks good dressed up OR dressed down. I can actually find what I'm looking for when searching through it! It has an open side pocket for your phone , and it's a little dated as it doesn't fit a larger smart phone, but I use it for all my lip balms instead. The only down side I can think of is that I was wearing it with a shirt that had a lacy shoulder area and it was a little sore by the end of the day since the straps are round and I keep the purse pretty full, but I will chalk that up to my shirt as it hasn't hurt any other time :) Overall, I love this purse and am happy I found a suitable replacement!!

I am so sad! I researched the most comfortable flats for week of walking to various meetings. The shoes only one day! For the price, the quality is awful. The back, sides and toe are already worn and fraying after ONE day. The back of the shoe is structured a bit higher than many other flat styles and ripped through the skin on the top of my heel despite adding blister bandaids.

I love the look of this shoe. I ordered several types of ballet flat, I think I was rooting for this one though. It is adorable. It was a half a size too big. The bottom seemed very flat (both sole and insole) I need more support so I would not bother to try the next size down. The inside also seemed a little rough, I was hoping for a sock-less solution... so cute though!

I purchased the saddle color and these shoes are beautiful. I am normally a size 9 but they were too big and waking around my living room I had to cling my toes to the shoe to keep them from flying off. I stuck with the 8.5. Now, they are a little snug. The back rubs but since these are leather I expect after a short break in period of wearing thick socks and stretching they will be perfect. These are very high quality and you can feel it right when you take them out of the box.

I love the look of these and really wanted them to work. However, I did not find them very comfortable and my heel did not stay in the shoes so it felt a little like a clog, when I was looking for a sneaker fit. I have not had good luck with Frye fitting me well (this is my second try) so others who like the fit of Frye might fare better.

Cute summer slides. These are true to size. I have a slightly wide foot and the width on these worked for me. I felt like the front edge was digging into the tops of my toes when I walked in them so I wasn’t sure about keeping these. I generally demand comfort right out of the box, but I’m wondering if these might break in fairly easily since they’re nice quality leather.

Love these. They fit perfect...true to size. Very comfy...do not squeeze the foot or toes...loose enough for my feet that can get hot, or ache from shoes that are too tight. They stretch only a tiny bit. The sole is perfect for every day wear, but obviously not meant for rough ground like a tennis shoe can handle. Bought the red and got continuous compliments and now bought the black. It's the first thing I slide into almost every day.

Right out of the box, these were very comfortable to wear. I wore them two days in a row to work and had no problems. The toe box is narrow, so that could be an issue for some. I’m not sure how comfortable these would be on wide feet. These are TTS and have a soft insole. They look even better on.

These are super cute and well made slip-ones. I’m so disappointed because not only did they feel narrow, but they were too flat on my feet leaving no room at all. They are at least a half size too small on me. If you have a narrow foot that is thin it will be fine. It’s a gorgeous shoe. I’m giving it ano5her try to see if a larger size will compensate for the too tight fit of my regular size.

Stylish ankle boot, purchased cognac color in a 1/2 size larger due to pointy toe - glad I did, toes do not feel cramped. Buckles jingle slightly when walking. I put a very small piece of fabric under the buckle so it wasn’t loud. Great quality, will last a long time.
