I have owned a pair of the 1955 Edition Falmouth since about 1984. To me it is a versatile and more elegant option than a topsider. Glad Zappos carries this shoe as it is not easy to find in brick and mortar stores.

Very little arch support, no cushioned sole, and no protection against the hard leather are the back of the foot (Achilles tendon) so after 6 hours of wearing I'm getting sores.

I agree with previous reviewer in that the width takes a little time to break in and I used a touch of “spray shoe stretch” to soften the area around my little toe. The shoe feels a little on the light side, almost like a slipper. I like the color and the construction is excellent. I would buy another pair when the time comes.

These shoes will break in comfortably. Be a little patient with them. If you buy a half size large, they will end up sloppy-feeling. I always toss the insole and buy a better one from the drugstore. That is what I did here. After four wearings, they are doing well. Classic look. It's about style, not fashion!

These seem to run a half size larger. If between sizes, get the smaller one.

A perfect boot spoiled by poor construction. They look great, and they're comfortable out of the box, no breaking-in necessary. Unfortunately, after only a few months a loud hissing sound started to happen every time I took a step. That was the sound of air escaping from a small slit in the semi-hollow sole. The slit widened over time, making it ever less comfortable to walk, as the whole sole sort of slid to the side with every step. On the day I decided the left boot had become essentially unusable, the right boot started hissing. They only lasted about five months. Really disappointing.

I'm a 50 yr old 6'4" man with average size 12 feet. Was looking for some chukkas for all around use and ended up getting these shoes. A little more pointier at the tip but way less than the redwing heritage chukka which is a very pointy shoe. Why cant they make them in a rounded toe box...like our natural foot shape? Anyway, very happy with these color and price wise, also on the light side with enough tread to wear a long time. Break in time is just a few days. No hot spots, but I wear a medium thickness sock as these have no liners.

Love these shoes, there was trouble with the sole coming apart and Zappos replaced them immediately. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.

Love the look of these boots. I got the peanut color. They are a light brown with a darker toe area. I went with the dark brown as well, but they were way too dark brown, I like the contrasting colors. They seem very comfortable. They are super light weight as well. I'd highly recommend.

My boys need plain toe black oxfords for German folk dancing. It has been hard to find a reliable shoe that is also the correct look and has the plain toe. We've bought many less expensive shoes, and the non-leather uppers always seem to peel and look terrible in short time. This is a very handsome shoe!

I really really liked the way they seemed to be well stitched & made (so much so I bought two pair of them). I thought I had finally found a replacement for some brown oxfords I wear for construction work. Unfortunately after wearing them off & on for about two months the heel wore through and has hollow cells that now fill with dirt. If they just wouldn't have chinced on this crucial part they would've been great but now I either will have to replace the heels or fill the open cells with silicone caulk so they don't track a bunch of dirt into customer homes. Darn it Eastland, you were so close on making a great shoe. Why not make the heels solid so they will hold up & not fill up with mud? I like the smooth soles & why I ordered them initially (non waffle type that collect mud) but the heel now negates this otherwise great shoe. For this reason I can only give them 2 stars.

Good boot, happy with it. Better looking than other moc toe boots out there. Own 2 pairs of Danners and wanted the Danner moc toe but at $100 more, couldn't justify it since this was just gonna be worn casually. Would buy again. The peanut leather color I bought is true to the picture. Toe and heel have a darker leather than the rest which makes it an interesting looking shoe. My size was 13 wide and size is spot on. Would recommend to anyone.

After a lenghtly search these shoes were a perfect match to what I wanted. Great fit, soft leather and just the look I wanted. Only one minor flaw, the heel pull loop on one of the shoes was not stitched securely and tore loose on the first pull. Overall a good product.

I ordered the tan shoes in 10 1/2 Wide; my normal size is 9 1/2 wide. I was expecting to wear the shoes with thick socks. The shoes look great and are well made, but they were too narrow to get on my feet, even with normal socks, so I'm unable to talk about arch support. I had to return the shoes the day after receiving them!

These derbys are great if you wish to have a no-nonsense basic good quality and good looking pair of shoes. I have slender size 11 feet and felt these shoes have enough cushion via the rubber soles and the insert for me to state they require very little break in. The fit seems to be just right. I use thicker socks to compensate for my lack of foot tissue. I'll bet someone with fuller feet will agree on the fit as well. The leather is good quality semi-opaque; I wish the manufacturer would offer them in a shiny polishable finish as well.

I ordered this for my husband and he is 100% pleased with these. He tried 5 other styles before choosing these. He likes the style because he commutes on the bus, has a 1/2 mile walk to his office, and they are comfortable for that and stylish enough to be office casual. They keep his feet warm and dry. They felt free at out of the box with no break-in required. He uses his orthotics which were easy to slip in.
