Dr. Martens Made In England

Love these shoes! I was a bit scared they were going to be stiff, but they are the most comfortable Dr. Martens I have ever purchased. This is my first made in England, pair and though the price point was a bit higher than I'm used to they are worth it.

What a gorgeous, well-made shoe. Quite stiff right out of the box, but breaking in nicely. Looking forward to wearing it for years to come.

I wear a women's size 11 and they were a tad loose, but nothing a thick pair of socks won't fix. My feet are uniquely shaped so finding a pair of shoes that fits perfectly is unattainable for me most of the time. They are super comfortable as have all the Dr. Martens I have even worn and the leather is very soft. They also look great on. Looking forward to wearing them for the next 20 years!

I had a few pairs of Dr. Martens about thirty years ago and remember them being bouncy and incredibly comfortable. I had avoided the brand after hearing that the quality wasn't the same once manufacturing was moved to Asia. This pair was selected specifically because of the Made in England label and they're just as comfortable as I remembered. Shoe still has the bouncy sole that I always felt gave me a different walk, almost more of a strut. Crazy comforable right out of the box! I agree that they did feel slightly larger than the size I normally wear, but I would not go as far as calling them a half or full size too bit. Not big enough for me to return. Olive color was really nice. Could see them aging well.

They arrived very fast in perfect condition.

Runs large. I usually wear a 7.5 or 8. I ordered the 8 in womens and they were huge. I’ve exchanged them for the 7, so we’ll see. The leather seemed very soft and very high-quality, but it had a strange white-ish hue that almost looked as if the leather was dusty in spots or something. (See photo). The leather was not dusty though. I don’t know if that variation is normal or not. Overall though, the shoes seemed very comfortable and almost broken in feeling on the first try.

Fit was awesome. I need a 12.5 wide, so I always end up buying 13 medium since my size is just never available. These fit perfectly.

After wearing docs for over ten years, the Made in England series is definitely worth the money. It’s the kind of leather I’d expect from a fine handbag. Can’t wait to see them age and form.

Love this 60th Anniversary Edition of the iconic DM 1461! Kudos to the good Brit doctor for choosing a leather from among those produced by Chicago's Horween company for its top 1461 model! Though I do wish the next smaller size had been available, Zappos' [flash sale clearance] price made my decision to keep 'em (and deal with their general bigliness) easier.

I purchased these for my husband, who has been a lifelong fan of Docs. A few years ago, I bought him a pair that were made in SE Asia, and they were terrible! The fit was poor, the quality was poor, the material was poor, and he wouldn't wear them because of how uncomfortable they were... Basically, DM should have been embarrassed to put their brand on them. When I saw Zappos was selling the "made in England" version, I was hesitant, mostly because of the significant price difference. But it turns out that they were worth it. He said the fit was perfect and they broke in very quickly and easily. The difference in quality is apparent even from across a room. You can have cheap, or you can have nice, and given that I expect that these shoes will last much longer than the subpar outsourced versions (were he even able to wear them), it is worth the price.

The leather is softer inside and out. Fits comfortably like gloves. I’m going back for more.

These are super high quality leather and craftmanship. they are going to take some breaking it to be 5 star comfortable but you can tell they will be worth it.

great shoes, just too big

opps I miss read the sizing chart and bought a size too big. They are Doc's and I've had them before and they are well made and last!!

The fit was true to size, even while also wearing my inserts. I find these shoes very comfortable and very stylish. This is my third pair of these 1461, Made In England, Dr. Martens. I just love the various colors of suede in this style. People have also commented on how lovely they look.

The US vs UK sizing seems incorrect when compared to actual fit. I can always fit in a US size 7 for flat shoes. While wearing shoes fully laced with sock I was able to walk out of these shoes - that is my foot slipped out of the shoe! I returned and ordered size 6 and the fit was better.

I'd give 6 stars if I could! My first pair of Dr. Martens and this Doc is marvelous and made in England! Like walking on air, even though the shoe looks hefty. The style is so darn cute. I ordered my regular size (with UK conversion),a 7, and the fit is perfect. Do not hesitate on this one!

Be specific about your likes and dislikes. How was the fit and size? What does the material feel like? How awesome (or not) do you feel wearing them?

I love the color and the look of these shoes. The suede is very nice quality and the workmanship is excellent. The sizing is interesting. I generally wear a size 8 or 8 1/2, so I first tried a size UK 6, as that is supposed to correspond to a US 8. I couldn't keep them on my feet. The length was a bit long, though not bad. However, they were much too wide for my feet. After reading that going up in size affected length, but not width, and thinking that going down a size wouldn't affect width, either, I debated a while before ordering the size UK 5. I'm glad I did. They are not too short, as I thought they might be, and the width is much better for my feet, though still too wide. But, when I put in my Birkenstock inserts, they take up a good bit of the excess width, correct for the lack of arch support, and make the shoes work for me. I really like these shoes and am glad I tried the smaller size.

Fit is large, consistent with what’s known about the brand sizing. No surprises.

Super cool black boot...works with jeans or nicer outfits. Great for all weather and well made.
