Dakine

Dakine Logo
In 1979, Rob Kaplan began manufacturing the DaKine® Leash in Haiku, Maui, Hawaii. The DaKine surf leash was designed for rigorous Hawaiian conditions and set the standard for innovative design and high quality. After this innovative breakthrough, DaKine started to build on its reputation by building technical surfing and windsurfing accessories, such as in 1980, when pro windsurfers asked Rob to help build footstraps for their new wave boards. Throughout the early 1980s, DaKine developed the 1st adjustable footstrap, seat harness, and waist harness, defining the company as the leading innovator in technical windsurfing accessories.

DaKine moved their manufacturing and operations to Hood River, OR in 1986; besides being a popular windsurfing location on the mainland, it´s also a gathering place for the best professional snowboarders looking to ride on Mt. Hood. In 1989, after proving themselves as leaders in surf accessories, gear, and bags, DaKine committed to the rapidly expanding snowboard market with board accessories, board bags, and gear bags. By using their commitment to unique designs, high quality, and the desire to stay true to the spirit of the sport, the company would become the world leader in this market over the next 15 years.

Throughout the 1990s, DaKine moved into the snowsports glove category with a modest three styles, and has now expanded that line to close to 70 models today. In 1996, DaKine introduced the Heli Pack, which helped create the new category of minimalist technical backcountry day packs. In 1998, DaKine sought to surpass the Heli Pack and introduced the Heli Pro. In a short time, the Heli Pro becomes the standard for technical daypacks as well as the sport's best selling (and most copied) model. Also around this time, DaKine moved into skate specific packs, such as the Park Pack, which quickly became known for its innovation and durability.

A true leader in the world of bags, packs, and accessories, DaKine has also built a reputation in the travel category, whether it is board sport specific carriers or luggage. After celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2004, DaKine continues to pride itself on developing products for the top professionals in every board sport and building its reputation for innovation and quality for over a quarter of a century.

I like the look of the bag. It works for me. It’s not that roomy inside, but all my books are digital, so I just needed something for a few notebooks & a small laptop. The insulated pocket isn’t that big either. It fits a sandwich & ice pack. If you need something for actual textbooks, I would get the bigger size.

This backpack is definitely suited to college students. Pretty organized. The water bottle holders are kind of a joke. It was way too much for my needs, so I will be returning it. I do not think it is well-suited for anything other than academia; its design is built around books. Therefore, not great for camping, hiking, or light travel/overnighting. Also kind of uncomfortable on your back. Cute look! Would have been great during my college years, if a little extra.

I'm 6'4". The back pack fits well. It distributes weight evenly across my shoulders. The back padding could be a little more but no complaints so far. The cooler pocket is a pretty cool feature. Not really big enough for Tupperware with leftovers, but a sandwich and a drink fits well. Overall, an excellent bag.

got this hat for someone who has a large head and is extremely picky about hats. he wasn't impressed with the color (dark olive, it's the only color left in stock) and the hat sort of looks cheaper quality than it really is which made it an awkward gift... but in the end he was sold on the stretchiness, length, and comfort of this hat. it also meets the criteria of needing to be warm but breathable but not hot or bulky. would definitely purchase this hat again in another color if available. i searched through seemingly a hundred different hats looking for one just like this and had almost given up!

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my friend and she loves it. It's so pretty but strong and durable. The awesome history of the company that makes it is what sold me, look up Dakine it will be worth your while! Not to mention that it's made with recycled material, but you'd never even know it!

Ashcroft Camo does NOT match the print shown in the product picture online. Online pic for Ashcroft Camo is a batik print; the product I received is a true camouflage pattern. I am returning this item.

Great size fits everything I need for nursing school! My only complaint is this particular color is a lot darker in person than online picture it is more of a purple than pink and also the zipper pull started to fray (the material) after only a month. But was easy to fix with a lighter!

Great backpack for the price. I have a long walk from my car to class, so I was looking for a backpack that could hold everything I need without being bulky. It has space for both a water bottle and portable umbrella in the side pockets, which makes it so much easier when I need a drink or quickly need rain cover. The main compartment is a perfect size as I don't carry more than a couple books at a time. If you need to carry everything and the kitchen sink, this is probably not the backpack for you. Another plus in the main compartment is the laptop sleeve. There are two compartments on the front of the backpack. The bottom compartment is the perfect size for my laptop charger. The upper compartment has organizers for pens, a calculator, and enough room for a couple notebooks or anything slim that you might need. On the top it has a felt-lined pocket that is perfect for my sunglasses. If I had to choose one thing that could be improved, it would be upgrading the material quality. It's not bad, and for the price I have no complaints, but compared to more expensive backpacks it isn't as high quality. That being said, I've had it a couple months and expect it to last the 2 more years that I plan to use it.

perfect backpack for school! 18L was too small, 26L was too big, but this 22L is just right. large compartment has a built-in laptop sleeve and more room for a notebook or two, pen pouch, and even a textbook if you choose to lug those around. smaller compartment is roomy too with slots for pens and pouches that can fit a little bottle of hand sanitizer or a couple of packs of gum. my blender bottle fits nicely in the side mesh pockets. love the neutral gray and the slightly swishy material of the backpack, which makes it seem like it'll be easy to clean in the future. solid pack!

This duffel is huge. It has more than enough room for a week long trip. The material is heavy duty and the zippers are strong. I do wish there were a couple internal pockets for smaller items. The end pocket is big enough for shoes. Overall I’m very happy with this bag.

I bought this item as a multi day bag or weekend bag. It is everything I hoped to find in a smaller more compact bag but is still spacious. Very happy with this purchase.

I purchased this item as a second trial. I first purchased the same style duffle bag but in a smaller size (25L) thinking that I would like that size but unfortunately it was too small. My purpose for this bag is to use it as a gym bag and I needed something larger, so I purchased the 50L and it's a great size for my daily usage. The material seems to be durable and sturdy, it has two hand straps and a shoulder strap. The shoulder strap has a curvy comfort insert that makes it comfortable to carry. This duffle bag also has a side zipper pocket, good size but other than that pocket, there isn't any other pockets which I would personally like to divide most of my items in the bag. The main pocket bag is large in size and great for packing a good amount of items. I give this bag an overall 4 stars because it is large and it looks sturdy, so far i've had it for about a week and I've had no issues. If it had more pockets inside the main pocket, I would give it a 5 because then it would be exactly what i would be looking for.
