Capezio

Capezio Logo
Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy. Uninterested in following in his father’s footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio’s popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes.

The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance.

Capezio products remain in the forefront in quality and in technological advances with innovations like the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker® and the Tapsneaker. Capezio believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater and recreation in communities worldwide.

The fit and size were fine but I had to return it because it arrived with the tag detached and smelled strongly of detergent. I ended up ordering another one.

I have wide feet and these fit great. They are not too snug but don't fall off if you are doing your barre workouts. I am very happy with them. Very basic, but also at a very affordable price.

The fit is perfect and they are very comfortable. I bought a second pair by the second day. I love the style - much better than wearing slides or slippers. I don't dance in them

I wear a size 9 AAA. These pink capezios were a perfect fit - thanks to the elastic that enables tightening the ballet shoe to one's comfort level. Strange that the pink capezios fit perfectly and the black capezios ran 1/2 size short.

I have a narrow foot and wear a size 9 AAA. In the black capezios I needed to size up from 9 N to 9.5 N. However, the pink capezios fit perfectly in a 9 N.

I ordered for my 9 year old daughter and her ballet class. She wears a 3 in street shoe size so i ordered a 4.5B. She loves them so far. They do look super cute on her feet.

I had a little trouble with the fit. I wear a size 6 1/2 or 7 depending on the brand or style of shoe. I ordered size 7 which turned out to be a little sloppy. Since I'm using these for exercise and not dance, I just tightened the elastic ties to keep them on my feet. If I were wearing these for ballet, I would want a truer, snug fit and would have exchanged them for a 6 1/2. I'm happy with my purchase as they meet my needs.

I am writing the reviews since I know others have the same questions about sizing when looking for dance shoes for kids. The sizes available in Kids seem to stop at 1.5 or 2. My daughter is a size 3-3.5 in Vans and needed the size 5 adult in this ballet slipper. I ordered 3 pair and sent the size 4 back but kept the 5 which fit now and the 5.5 for when she grows out of them. She is thin so I ordered the Narrow width which fit perfectly. The value is excellent - these are not overpriced given the cost of jazz shoes and they really hold up. Her previous pair of ballet slippers look brand new and she has worn them for several months before growing out of them.

First off, Zappos is wonderful! But . . . I wanted some slippers with a smooth sole for dancing on carpet, and ballet slippers fit the bill. I wear an 8½N but since I would be wearing sox, I chose a 9M. They were too short and too wide. Wonderful Zappos took them back, and I ordered a 9½N. The width was better, but the length is still quite short. I'll keep them and see if they stretch with wearing. Those are the reasons for the poor review.

for me, these were a bit tight and had to be broken in. i wear them as house slippers and really like them, but unfortunately around the same time they were finally well broken in, the insole linings fell apart and then came out completely, leaving behind a tacky glue residue. now i wear them with no lining, which is kind of gross and uncomfortable. please sell a replacement insole thin enough to wear in ballerina slippers.

I ordered these in my normal street size shoe as directed but they feel at least a full size too large. I am returning them and re-ordering a smaller size because they are just what I was looking for except the size.

I normally take size 8 and followed other recommendations and sized up to 8.5. Glad I did as these run small. You can adjust the fit with the pull ties around the top of the slippers. These are classic capezios thus don't expect any arch support. I purchased them as a portable slipper for long airplane trips and to wear around the house.

not comfortable in the toe area (too tight); i assume this will improve after the material stretches but i have broken toes etc. so having to break the shoes in (and not have them be comfortable from the start) is not ideal. there is also a lump under the ball of foot in both shoes where the fabric and leather are gathered in, it is especially noticeable since the shoes are otherwise very flat. i wanted something completely flat barefoot-style to wear as slippers. so that lump in the sole is my main complaint but it is just how the shoe is made. i will still wear them and may buy again in a larger size.

Perhaps all ballet shoes are sized differently than regular shoes, but I had to order 2 sizes larger than my daughter’s typical size.

i went up a half size and selected the widest option but they're still a bit too snug in toe area. i have extremely sensitive feet (injuries, nerve damage) and bought these to wear as slippers—for something almost barefoot that still qualifies as a foot covering. if you get these for that purpose and need shoes that don't require breaking in, consider going up one size. also, the insole doesn't cover the gathered leather under your toes, which isn't ideal if you have sensitive feet or nerve damage and need a smooth surface under your whole foot.
