Capezio

Capezio Logo
Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy. Uninterested in following in his father’s footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio’s popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes.

The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance.

Capezio products remain in the forefront in quality and in technological advances with innovations like the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker® and the Tapsneaker. Capezio believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater and recreation in communities worldwide.

This is NOT a size 4.5 that an 11 year old would wear. I am not sure how they do their sizing but this is crazy small. If there was a 4.5 for 4-5 year olds, this would be the size. I had to rank comfort and style. I gave it a 1 star only based on the size. I can't comment on the others as my daughter cannot put them on.

I did a lot of research on dance shoes before settling on these shoes. I LOVE to dance - any style - but whatever sneakers I tried on both wooden floors and carpets either didn't let me move or most importantly didn't give me the support I needed for the balls of my feet. These shoes are fantastic!! A bit wierd since there's no arch, but have danced in them for about three days, no pain in the balls of my feet, easy to spin and move on hardwoods for any kind of step. Haven't tried them on carpet yet, but only need carpet because of viral quarantine right now. Other reviews are true in that you need to go at least a size up. I can wear an 8.5 to a 9.5 depending on the shoe and sock. I bought a 10 figuring I could aways wear an extra sock, but that won't be necessary. Always have worn a Medium, but these are a little snug around the top of the shoe. Double knot the laces, as they come undone rather quickly depending on your dance style. So far, very pleased.

My dancer wears a woman's size 7.5-8 and the medium was way too small for her. Cut into the sides of her foot :( Returned and purchased a large, and fits perfectly!

My feet have widened since I last purchased ballet slippers, so these are a little big, mostly because I couldn't try them on. But they work!

The shoe felt a full size smaller and a lot narrower than stated. I have jazz shoes from another brand in normal width. These were listed as Wide, but are actually the same width as my other jazz shoes.

The fit seemed to be at least a full size larger, although it could even be more than one size larger (hard to tell without trying on multiple sizes). However, I ordered a couple other styles from Bloch (Odette and Hybrid Split Sole) which were so much better quality overall that I chose to return these Juliets without ordering a smaller size. The leather was so much better with both Bloch slippers and the interior feel as well.

My feet have grown, and my older size 8 character shoes pinched my toes after a couple hours of dancing. I ordered 8 1/2 and love them. Just a bit more toe room length wise, but the rest of my foot feels secure. I probably should order another pair as I get nervous that this style will be dropped!

These are Capezio dance shoes so they are what you would expect, but they are tiny! I usually wear an 8.5 or a 9, I got a 9.5 and they were way too small. Size up, maybe even a size and a half.

I am normally a size 8 and ordered an 8.5, definitely the right call. It is a little big in the heel area, but with the strap there isn't a problem. Super comfy, I bought these for a 20s themed party and am so excited to wear them! I always have trouble walking in heels, even heels others say gave them no issues, but I highly recommend these! I don't even feel like I'm wearing a heel! Hoping to have more opportunities to wear these in the future!

Full size larger than usual and still feels too short. I like the heel height and smooth sole for dancing but ordered full size larger than usual and still feels too tight for my toes.

The fit is true to regular street size. I bought size 8 and they were a bit stiff and slippery until broken in but are good now. Lose a star for being a tiny bit over priced and for being too stiff but overall very good

I wear a size 9 AAA. These pink capezios were a perfect fit - thanks to the elastic that enables tightening the ballet shoe to one's comfort level. Strange that the pink capezios fit perfectly and the black capezios ran 1/2 size short.
