Asolo

Asolo Logo
Since its inception in 1975, Asolo has gained an important worldwide leadership position in producing technical mountaineering shoes. The product range covers footwear from the most technical alpine demands to the more relaxed leisure activities line, permitting Asolo to be one of the few companies in the world to completely cover the outdoor area. More importantly, their footwear has conquered the most important mountains in the world with sponsored athletes JC Lafaille and Tomaz Humar.

Asolo´s goal is to create great footwear for all of your outdoor needs, in all conditions, at all altitudes: from light walking to hiking, from backpacking to the most treacherous climbing - whether it be on ice or mixed terrain. The footwear is designed around the foot; flexible, lightweight, and at the same time, highly resistant. Fit and performance are major strengths for this design. The breathable footwear is able to shock-absorb even on the toughest terrains, while keeping away humidity, water, and cold weather. The highly researched soles are constructed in such a way that they will prevent slips and falls on the most slippery of terrains.

Since the beginning, Asolo is connected with experiences and people who live for the mountain. Together with the brand, they test boots that have been developed for the alpine/mountaineering athletes and for all people who "live" the mountain with love and passion.

Vasque Sundowners were my go to boots for the longest time had trouble finding them so I went with this boot because they look similar in this boot is even better I’ve had these for eight years now and even had them re-sold and they’re still great! I had a pair Zamberlins That I thought would replace these boots but they didn’t work out so well, see my previous review Wendy’s finally do wear out I will buy another pair that should last me the rest of my life

I love the look and feel of these shoes, but, alas, I have a really narrow foot, and these were just too wide for me. Ill be sending back and check out some ASICS. Thank you Zappos!

These are great! I needed waterproof hikers that would be comfortable right out of the box because I found my current ones suddenly weren't waterproof and we were in the middle of floods. I wore these for a full day, several days a week. Walked 4 to 9 miles a day in them and they are comfortable. I need good arch support and these definitely provide that. They have a nice soft tongue and collar so I don't have to wear tall hiking socks in hot weather, footies work just fine. My only complaint is because of the soft tongue and collar changing from these to knee boots and back is not quick. They lace up with a waterproof gusset right to the top and so slipping them back on takes two hands. But that's a minor inconvenience for boots that don't hurt my feet and are waterproof but not hot

I could not believe how off the sizing was on this shoe.. I double-checked to make sure that this was a shoe made for women. (It was). I was looking forward to this shoe because I could "custom" lace from ankle to toes. These were so wide that I could pull the 2 sides together. So after a few wearings and the natural stretching that leather undergoes these would be donated to the homeless shelter. I was very disappointed, and the shoes were returned

I require a bit more cushion so I but this boot 1/2 size bigger. This is a revision of a boot that I wore for 10yrs. Break in time 2 days walking around the house. Tested the gortex finish...seems water tight. Zappos customer service stepped up for me on this purchase, quick replacement sent after I experienced a glitch with my 1st Asolo order.

This is simply the best hiking shoe around. Whether on rocky trail, forest path, biking trail, cross country - anywhere you walk or hike this is the best there is. The laces extend far enough down to the toe box to keep you steady and the higher back keeps debris from falling into your shoe. I can’t say enough about this boot. It is just perfect.

I wear a 7 1/2. Originally ordered a 71/2 and had to exchange for a 7. The length is good and arch is in the right place.. it's a bit wide for my foot in the toe box and is a little sloppy when walking. They're not a perfect glove fit and I'm not overjoued with the fit and feel, but they'll do.

This shoe was not an uncomfortable fit except for the odd vertical height of the toe box, which affected the feel of the shoe in an unpleasant way and took away from the overall supportiveness of the shoe. If I wore thick orthotics, or if I suffered from diabetic neuropathy, the tall shoe box might have been a plus, but for me it just made the shoe feel too big despite the rest of the shoe saying otherwise.

After extensive searching for a new pair of casual/light hiking shoes I decided on the Asolo Megaton GV because of the excellent fit and support of my Asolo hiking boots. The Megaton shoes lack the support and torsional stiffness that I have had in far less expensive shoes of this design. They are very comfortable, but better for shopping excursions than packing on the miles on pavement or light hiking.

They are 1/2 too large. I am 8.5 in most tennis shoe brands. Size 8.0 in this boots was my size. I had to return size 8.5. Excellent boots. Feeling of a tennis shoe. Not for backpacking, more for day walks in well groomed trails.

I bought this boot for moderate hiking and backpacking, hoping to find something a bit more rugged than the Keen offerings that would still fit my very wide foot. It seems well made and rugged, but I had to send it back because even the wide version was too narrow.

Feels like an incredibly well-made pair of boots. Very structural, not much give. Feels like wearing really comfortable roller blades without the wheels. I expect these will last for many years.

Had Merrill hiking boots for years but needed wider boot. Tried these for trails and light mountain hiking. They are all I expected and have held up for the past 3 years. Will definitely buy these again. The price is reasonable given the comfort, support and durability. I do not write reports unless I have really tried the product out. Rocks, water, and rough terrain are easier with these boots!

Love love love these heavy duty backpackers! These are very well made, I went up a size to add superfeet insoles and heavy socks. They may feel heavy at first but oddly your feet will not get tired. I carry heavy film equipment and cameras and need a steady ankle and sure footing-this boot hits it out of the ballpark!

I love the look of these shoes. I have another pair of Asolo which fit me very well and plan to use them for an 18-day hike this summer. This pair would have been the back-up shoes. The toe box is medium-wide and the heel is medium, which fits my feet fine. The low profile was just a little too low to provide enough side support for my feet. Also, an insert would be needed to support my high arch. Still a fan of Asolo but I had to return them.

I have a difficult time finding shoes that are comfortable; I have a bunion and need a wide toe box. The Nucleon GV is very comfortable for urban walking and light hiking. I haven't worn it in wet conditions yet, so can't address the water repellency. So far, I'm delighted with this shoe.

I ordered a size 15D. The length was OK, I have a narrow width foot but felt the toe box too confining. I understand from reviews that the wide width version offers more toe room while keeping the heel snug. Returned the 15D, hoping for the wide size to become available.

These boots are pretty light weight but seem sturdy. I have not had them on the trail yet. I have a pair of Asolo low hiking shoes that I love, and these boots are similar. I love the Vibram megagrip sole - especially this particular style. Asolo has two styles of megagrip soles and this is the one I’m familiar with. I will use these with Superfeet green insoles and they fit me perfectly. I usually wear a 10.5 when available but the 10 here fits fine.

I usually take an 8 - 8.5. Ordered the 8 because people said it runs big. It was too big. Returned it for the 7.5 and...it was too small! Sad they’re going back - they are the best looking hikers I’ve seen, good for hours of walking on cobblestones.
