My favorite outdoor/work boot ever. Lightweight yet durable. Great grip. Very comfortable!

'Best shoes/boots I've ever purchased. For me, the price was well worth the foot comfort, size (half size was spot on), and quality of life. The surface has taken a beating over the years but for the comfort, I have no shame in wearing them to work. Truly an excellent set of boots, if you can stomach the price. Five star, outstanding, no regrets w/ my purchase.

The box was marked 9 1/2 wide but the boot in the box was not a wide shoe and the tag on the inside of the shoe did not designate that this was a wide shoe like all my other boots.

best boot I have ever owned, worth every penny

Love Asolo boots! Wore my first pair out, so this is my second pair. I have hiked in snow (5 degree weather) and rain, gone through creeks and streams, all with no problems. Very comfortable too, and the best is that my socks don't disappear down to my toes. Hoping these are as wonderful as the first pair.

Great looking pair of hikers for light hiking and the urban jungle. They have moderate arch support, are relatively light, and good for all round hiking/walking. I found the shoes super comfy but a little narrow in the toe box. My feet are slightly wider than normal though so consider that. The color is unique — I really like that they aren’t just brown and black suede — and have a more modern, streamlined look.

Normally I wear 91/2 wide. The 91/2 M fits me well. They are flexible for walking, have a Vibram sole which helps stop slipping on icy patches. I’m 71, with bunions and just old sore feet but these work for me.

These shoes are pretty cute and seem sturdy, but no amount of tightening kept them from slipping on my heels. Have to return.

Disappointed. The stiff leather combined with the pacing that goes all the way to the toe bed means the boot puts immense pressure on the top of your foot (right above the ball of your foot). For me it hurt so bad I was limping and it limited how far I could walk. I tried breaking them in and invested several hours of walking in them, but was only rewarded with more pain. Oh and the insole is defective with a big crease right in the arch. I gave them away.

I think, perhaps, I will own these boots for a long time to come. I haven't worn them all that much because I just received them, but I know shoes. They feel second to none. I bought a pair of shoes from Asolo some time ago, wore them while hiking in Greenland, and love them still. I really think these boots will be just as warm, comfortable, and waterproof. In my opinion, Asolo is on top of the game right now. Thy are pricey for a reason; they are well designed, well crafted shoes. Yes, warm. Insulated by the Gore-Tex weave inside. No, your feet will not sweat. *Very lightweight. Very true to size - if you wear a very heavy sock, you may want to size up - or if you will be hiking because downhill your toe will be right there at the front of the shoe. Good laces that stay put. Quality stitching. Not clunky - no sight of the soles when you look down at them. Nice lines - unassuming logo. Pants fall over the cuff, because the heal bow or loop is replaced by a piece of material that lays flat against the back of the shoe. And Vibram on the bottom, which means good rubber - no squeaking, no sliding. I would say you could wear these casually or push them hard. And no, I don't work for Asolo. Although I would.

The size seemed to run on the larger size if you run on a half-size like I do. When I tried them on they were more comfortable than I expected. I don't know what these other people are talking about, mine still needed to be broken in but not nearly as much as the other 10 pair of work boots I've bought. The pulleys for the shoe string is interesting. I think that will make the laces last longer, but if you planned on pulling out the strings and replacing them with paracord, like I did, they make that difficult. I still haven't figured it out. Cool thing is, I'm pretty sure these laces ARE paracord with that plastic stuff on the end of shoe strings. I work in forestry and have never had a single pair of boots hold up for a whole season, so I went looking for literally the best and most expensive pair I could find this time. These look/feel like they're going to hold up and are the most comfortable pair of work boots at the same time. I've yet to test them in saturated soil though. I'm happy so far. One thing. My big toe was rubbing up against the inside of the toe box and zappos suggest I try a wider fit and that fixed the problem. I've never had to order wide shoes before, but I knew that if it bothered me a little bit in the first 3-5 minutes of testing them that I had better try it. Got the new ones in and those are the ones I'm talking about in the review. They're perfect. Now to just get them truly worn in. Super last thing: The price point of these boots made me, and still make me, very uncomfortable. This is a lot of money for me. It appears to put into the quality and not the marketing or sales people though. I really am happy with these so far. If I can clean them like people say, and wear them casually as well, that probably will make it worth the money so I don't have to have separate shoes. If you think you should get these and would if they were a little bit cheaper, I'd go for it and through zappos because they'll work with you if they're not right. If this didn't exist, I never would have bought them. I hope this helps.

Lightweight for hiking and great design

I think Asolos tend to run a touch large, but for hiking I want the fit to leave room for foot swell, so I decided on size 10 rather than my usual 9.5. For a better fit and more comfort, I went to my local running store for a custom insole. I wore these boots in Costa Rica for 4-6 hour hikes in the cloud forest. We hiked through steep inclines, declines, muddy trails, rocks, rain, and gravel. I only experienced a bit of a rub on my non-bunion foot near my ankle, which I resolved by loosening the laces. Otherwise, these boots handled like a dream. I was even able to scrub them down with a hose and scrub brush at one of the hiking reserve information centers and my feet stayed 100% dry. Good purchase-- time will tell how or if they break down-- but my initial reaction is positive.

I love this boots! I have a pair of scarpas that are just too narrow and we’re giving me blisters. These fit perfectly. Plenty of room around the toes and I love that they are waterproof. Great for soggy winter hikes in Ohio.

In a normal casual sneaker I'm usually a 6.5 and a 6.5 fit perfect length wise. This is such a nice looking boot and felt sturdy. I loved the arch support, but sadly I have a super narrow, low volume foot. There was still some extra room in the toe box so I had to return them. These seem a little heavier than my current Salewa boots, but that wouldn't have bothered me.

I tried on this boot in 9.5 medium width in a store. Good support and high quality. (as it should be for $250, but a bit tight in the forefit. Custom ordered a 9.5 Wide. The things that arrived feel like they had grafted a size 7 toe box onto a 9.5 shoe. Totally unwearable. Moral: Don't buy an Asolo unless you can try on the exact pair you plan to buy. And have narrow feet!

Finally! I have tried on soooo many hiking shoes to try to find a durable but not bulky, water resistant, and comfortable shoe, and this one is perfect. I normally wear a 9.5 in running/hiking shoes, but this was a bit bigger in the toebox, so I exchanged for the 9 and it's great. The laces are very skinny, so I'm hoping they hold up over time? But otherwise I have nothing negative to say about it at this point. And, as always, I am so thankful for Zappos's amazingly fast shipping, easy exchanges, and excellent customer service.

Awesome boots, this is my second pair.

I had high hopes for these shoes. They are very stylish for a hiking shoe and lightweight. I did not like the thin (like mens dress shoes) laces and the shoes overall weren't that comfortable. But the thing that really ended it for me on this shoe was the right shoe squeaked.

I enjoy the fit of theses day hikers and they do keep my feet dry and warm in the colder months.

Very happy with these hiking boots. Asolo is an awesome brand to begin with, but I was very impressed with the comfortable fit of this particular pair of boots. They are similar in fit to my Montrail Torre GTX hikers, which uses integrafit technology, where they measured the feet of thousands of people and took into consideration the biomechanics of the foot’s movement during hiking. I wanted something that can stand up to rough terrain, and I think these Asolos will do the trick. The color is great too. I’ll still do a waterproofing of the leather, since it’s only water resistant, but really can’t go wrong with the quality of these hikers.
