Asolo

Asolo Logo
Since its inception in 1975, Asolo has gained an important worldwide leadership position in producing technical mountaineering shoes. The product range covers footwear from the most technical alpine demands to the more relaxed leisure activities line, permitting Asolo to be one of the few companies in the world to completely cover the outdoor area. More importantly, their footwear has conquered the most important mountains in the world with sponsored athletes JC Lafaille and Tomaz Humar.

Asolo´s goal is to create great footwear for all of your outdoor needs, in all conditions, at all altitudes: from light walking to hiking, from backpacking to the most treacherous climbing - whether it be on ice or mixed terrain. The footwear is designed around the foot; flexible, lightweight, and at the same time, highly resistant. Fit and performance are major strengths for this design. The breathable footwear is able to shock-absorb even on the toughest terrains, while keeping away humidity, water, and cold weather. The highly researched soles are constructed in such a way that they will prevent slips and falls on the most slippery of terrains.

Since the beginning, Asolo is connected with experiences and people who live for the mountain. Together with the brand, they test boots that have been developed for the alpine/mountaineering athletes and for all people who "live" the mountain with love and passion.

I farm for a living. These are my work shoes. I wear them all day, 5-7 days a week. They are perfect for walking fields. I am also very pleased with the support they give while standing all day, on concrete, when working in our shop. I’ve never had a pair of boots/shoes hold up as well as these have after a year of constant use. I am sold on the Asolo brand, and will continue to purchase going forward

I am generally an 8.5 or 9 depending on the shoe. The 8.5 fits me perfectly. I liek shoes a little on the narrow side, and Medium widths are sometimes still too wide for me. These felt just right. I cannot give any review of the long term durability of them as I just got them, but the thing to know is that I would not really call these a "boot". They feel more like a high-top hiking shoe. They are MUCH lighter and more flexible and compliant around the ankle than you would think by looking at them. But for what I wanted, that is a very good thing.

I like these shoes very much. They are lightweight and constructed very well with high-quality materials. They have a slightly "retro" look that I find appealing. They are water resistant and the tongue is designed to prevent water intrusion into the boot. The insole is removable and provides light-to-moderate arch support. I have added an insert to improve support for my high arch. The additional insert works very well as the boot interior allows for the raised position of my foot. The boot also provides moderate ankle support but does not restrict front-to-back movement of my foot because it is cut lower in the back. I give this boot two thumbs-up!

I have been wearing the Magnum GV for five days now in Afghanistan. These boots are performing well in multiple types of terrain. They are feel surefooted in rocky terrain and transition to pavement no differently. My feet felt at home as soon as I put the boots on. The price is high for the unknown but you won’t regret it. As a matter of fact, I’m buying another pair today.

Based on other reviews, I bought a size 7 and I typically wear a 7.5. The 7 fit perfectly. I have a pretty pronounced bunion and these shoes have a roomy enough toe box to accommodate my weird foot. I wore them the first time for a 10-hour shift where I stand up all day and had zero rubbing or friction, which is a miracle. I bought them for an upcoming Europe trip for their sturdiness and Gore-tex waterproof material. I bought the grey with turquoise laces and they are pretty decent looking--not too "athletic" looking.

Despite good traction there is NOT enough stability in the ankle to call this a hiking boot, but it would be a fun walking shoe on rainy days in the city. Although the fit is wider than most Asolo lightweight boots, it was still too narrow in the toe box. Only Asolo backpacking boots fit my foot that is wide in front and narrow in the heel. I'm giving up on this brand.

Love, love, love these! Many women biologists in my office, including me, wear heavy-duty Asolos for fieldwork. I had the Asolo Fission for the past 3 years and they needed replacement. Fission doesn't seem to be available anymore, but these Drifters felt like meeting an old friend when I slipped them on. I have feet on the narrow side (though I wear a regular width shoe) with high arches and I like a roomy toebox - these shoes somehow feel secure while also feeling like they are just floating on my feet. So glad to have found these available in my size on Zappos!

This is everything I wanted in a lightweight hiking boot (and an added bonus of gorgeous style), but compared to my old heavy backpacking leather Asolo, it is VERY NARROW in the towbox and LONGER. Sizing up a half size didn't help toe-mashing much, but the heel ankle fit really well. My feet are narrow in the heel and wide in the toe. Salomon Quest 4D fit much better but is 4 oz heavier and stiffer, so I'm trying other lightweight boots. I'd recommend this boot for long, narrow feet. I wish it fit me.

I ordered a pair to try on, didnt keep them. I do love all of the little features these boots come with. They see like good quality, for a work boot. I was looking for hiking boots. I could feel the seem between the insole and the side of the boot that was under the arch of my foot. This probably would have worn in if i kept the boots, but i didnt want to risk it. They are rather heavy for hiking boots too, again, these are probably more geared to work/duty boots. Style isnt great, all black leather will get very hot on long summer day hikes. they are comfortable though, seemingly great ankle support and well padded sole. The little pulleys in the lacing system work well to get a consistent, comfortable fit.

The size was perfect and the boots fit fine with good arch support but I felt they were not quite as rugged as I wanted. I am used to more leather and less fabric... my bad; not the fault of the boot. I would like this boot if hiking in July but for cold and wet midwest winters it seemed a bit thin. I returned it for a different heavier boot.

I've had a pair of these for about 6 years...only wearing them on really rough ground off trial type stuff. They are an excellent heavy duty boot...one of the best I've seen. They do not have the no flex sole of the mountaineering boots....there is a stiff shank in there...but the boot flexes at the ball of your foot though not as much as a lighter day hiker style boot. About the only negative is...these are heavy. In most cases the avg person isn't going to like these for that reason alone....and they are right, this is too much boot for the avg person. Its best for backpackers carrying fairly heavy packs that need a solid footbed and better support than what a lighter day hiker can give you. The boot is fully lined, very comfortable. I wear a 14D in most stuff....these just felt a little snug in the width...so I went with the wide version. Now since, they have loosened up a little...but with the thick expedition socks I'm glad I went for the wider footbed. These have been waterproof for me though I silicone them regularly. The first 2 years they were perfect. Now, they will start to get heavier after a couple days in straight wet from water soaking the leather...though still no leaks. The best strategy is to wear a Gaiter that keeps wicking moisture out...and a lot of the water off the top of your boots.

Comfortable and stylish right out the box. As study and durable as could be expected off the beaten path, considering they feel like thicker sneakers (weight wise). Good traction over loose soil, rock, ice. Referenced in other reviews: if you’ve ever flirted with wide widths before, these aren’t for you. I’d call my width “average” and they feel great, but I also don’t like a whole lot of extra room and I don’t wear particularly thick socks. If you’re looking for something lighter without the name Merrill on it (for whatever reason), these are them.

This boot runs one whole size larger. I wear an 8.5, my old Asolo's are 8.5, had to buy a 7.5 in this boot. Now that I found the right size, they are wonderful, feel like my 15+ year old Asolo's.

What can I say about this boot that hasn't been said. Amazing quality, build, construction fit. The soles is fantastic. Very similar boot to the Asolo TPS Equalon GV Evo which I would own if came in a wide size. Thankfully this one does. Can't say enough good things about this one.

'Best shoes/boots I've ever purchased. For me, the price was well worth the foot comfort, size (half size was spot on), and quality of life. The surface has taken a beating over the years but for the comfort, I have no shame in wearing them to work. Truly an excellent set of boots, if you can stomach the price. Five star, outstanding, no regrets w/ my purchase.
