difference between baffin trapper and Kamik icebreaker
0Votes
Best Answer
The biggest difference is that the Trapper has a higher rated insulation material, giving protection from -76°F/-60°C while the Kamik Icebreaker is for -40°F. The Icebreaker and the Baffin Hunter are more comparable, without a great deal of differences.

Customers find these boots excellent and well-constructed, keeping feet warm and dry in waterproof conditions. They are comfortable, with one customer noting the soft flexible rubber material, and customers consider them good value for money. The fit receives mixed feedback - while some find them wide, others report they run large. The weight is also mixed, with some finding them moderate while others consider them heavy.

Good heavy boot, the drawstring at the top gives extra protection, but it does run big. I would suggest ordering a half size smaller than your normal shoe size.

These boots are waterproof - I used my boots recently during a road trip where I was watching a Bald Eagle perched on an island. I was able to get closer to the Eagle by having these boots on (I could walk into the ocean shore a little further). The boots are little on the heavy side, something I wasn't expecting.

I heeded the advice of some of the other reviewers and ordered one size smaller (9-D) than my 'normal' size. I am glad that I did, because even at one size smaller, these boots are still a bit roomy; however, this issue will be rectified with the use of thick heavy-duty Heat Holders brand socks. I usually wear a size 10-D (Medium) Ugg 'Beacon' boot which fit perfectly and I do wear these the majority of the time...since I do reside at high altitude/colder climate. By the way, I would've ordered the Kamik: Hunter, because I'm more familiar with the Kamik brand and I also prefer an all black boot; however, the size I needed (9-D) was and is still not available. Since shoe/boot size usually seems to differ from maker to maker and style to style, I have to be very careful whenever making online shoe/boot purchases. I have discovered, however, that certain winter-type boots do have a tendency of running a bit large...evidently to account for the layering of socks. Unfortunately, the nearest non-discount department stores and high-end shoe stores are located about two hours away from where I reside, so trying a pair on beforehand was not an option. Although it did snow here today and I will be using these for snow shoveling, I also bought them for when its finally time to clear my large property of weeds. The attached gaiters should ensure that the dirt, dust, rocks, and weeds, as well as snow remain outside the boot; however, I will purchase some cord toggles...since they're quicker and easier to adjust whilst wearing gloves and tying/untying the gaiters' laces will become a bit tough if and when they do become wet. Like I had said, these boots are roomy (both in length and in width) and I also recommend ordering at least one size smaller than your 'normal' size...depending upon the type of socks you'd be wearing. These rubber boots are dark green with black soles and a black nylon gaiter (as pictured) and the weight seems moderate - heavier than my non-rubber Ugg and Kamik boots, but heavy enough to provide the ankle support and warmth which I require. I will also be using the provided interior felt liners to help the boots fit better, feel warmer, as well as provide me with some additional ankle support. As usual, Zappos speed-o-light shipping ensured that I received them quickly; i.e., I ordered these boots very late Wednesday night and they arrived at my home (via UPS Ground) this (Friday) morning. I received excellent Zappos customer service as usual; thus, why all of my online shoe/boot purchases are done via Zappos.com. Once again, thanks guys and please keep up the great work...cheers.

These are great boots so far. They are relatively light yet durable are warm. I wear size 12 shoes and had to order a 10 to get a pair that fit. Honestly I could probably use a 9.
