In 1973 Timberland built their original yellow boot. It was a rugged, durable, waterproof leather boot made for cold, wet weather. Many reviewers suggested buying a half-size larger, so I did, and it fit well. Definitely runs a little small, but true to width (medium for me). A two mile "urban hike" and it was all broken in, just like that. I then gave this boot a good five day workout in the mountains of Vermont, and it responded well. It is waterproof, has good traction/grip, good ankle support, and is comfortable. Not quite as comfortable as the Columbia boots I normally buy, but good enough. I just wish it had a tad more arch support (so I only gave it 4 stars on comfort). Overall I'm happy with it.
Nice shoe; just the style and color I was looking for.
The boots are very comfortable, provide nice support, and so far appear very durable. I have taken them through streams, and the waterproofing holds up well.
I can't actually speak to the arch support as I use orthotics, but otherwise, I LOVE these boots. I've had mine for about three years now and they just get better and better. In the last year, I started dressing them from time to time with Bick 4 to keep the inevitable scuffs from becoming an issue. I wish I'd dressed them from the beginning because it only makes the leather that much softer and more comfortable. Just fantastic boots.
The boots look good and are comfortable enough. I bought these at the end of April (2016) to replace some very worn out Columbia hiking boots that were my primary walking footwear across NYC and through several international trips. The point is, I walk. A lot. As of July 2016, during a week of Scout camp, the Timberlands' upper began separating from the sole up near the front part of the arch. I found out the hard way that this has compromised the waterproofing. It's not bad yet, but it will get worse. While I wasn't specifically looking for waterproof boots, I saw the good reviews of these and decided to take a chance on a different brand. I am nevertheless disappointed that they've failed so quickly.
Been getting Timberlands from Zappos for long time now. Great selection and fast delivery
Great shoe, except that they are unwearable because of the very prominent rivets where the tongue meets the upper ankle, which press into the ankle and make walking for any distance a problem. Seems like a weird design flaw. Need to return.
Good comfortable shoe. It not too dressy but is dressy enough to wear to work. I regularly walked 7K steps each day to work and these shoes are great for that.
I usually wear a 10 but ended up with a 9 in this boot. Other than that little trickery, this shoe is awesome! I have worn it consistently for: - work (I am an instructor, not hard labor) - hiking (day hikes, not backcountry expeditions) - general purpose walks - other miscellaneous activities Had them for about 5 months now and they show no major signs of problematic wear. Really enjoy them. Great comfort, simple design and feel. Also they get lots of compliments if you're into that sort of thing.
This boot is exactly what I was looking for at a reasonable price. To be fair it is probably not a pair I was "buying for life" but many similar boots listed at this cost fit was perfect and boots are comfortable.
