I went through several pairs of boots before I found these. Frye Veronica Slouch were too loose and flexible, Aldo Deare smelled of cheap fake leather and the heel looked like it would separate eventually. Lindley hits right below the knee, which might be unflattering to some. I got the brown and the purple zipper isn't as bright as the pictures show, it's subtle and cute. The leather smells great and the distressing looks awesome. Love these boots and Zappos' awesome customer service.

I loved these boots, but sadly I had to return them. I'm 5'1-ish (maybe 5'2), and the shaft of the boot was too high for my liking. It went about mid-knee which was awkward and not what I was expecting. That being said, I'm on the hunt for another pair of boots. These would have been great for the fall. :(

Maybe I was expecting too much, but I certainly wasn't expecting the boots to come scuffed, both on the leather and on the soles. It looked as though someone had been wearing the boots all last winter. The leather was gray and had scratch marks all over it. It also had something of a hole on one side that was very noticeable. The soles were scuffed and the threads were frayed on the zipper. I know worn boots are in, but I'm not paying these prices for something that looks this used. Sending them back.

I LOVE THESE BOOTS! I ordered the brown pair a couple of months ago and always get compliments when I wear them. I'm 5'7, and they come just below the knee. They have a bad attitude feel to them and are still flirty and fun. I'm ordering a pair in black today. The leather smells great!

The best thing to say is this: these boots are too die for, totally worth the money and will make all your friends jealous! One thing I really liked about them is that I usually have to buy wide calf boots, but not with these! They were a perfect fit! I ordered these in brown and black because I wanted to see each in person to decide my favorite and it took all the will power in the world to only keep one! I love the black because the red zipper is so bold, so if it weren't for the red zipper I would have kept the brown. The brown leather was gorgeous! Size was also spot on. I'm an 8.5, so I ordered 8.5 and 9 and 9 was too big.

I saw this boot on someone else and fell in love with the cute zipper in the back. I ordered a 1/2 size up (which turned out to be a good idea) and decided I liked the boot enough to keep it to wear with knee length and longer skirts. The downside is that if you are short (I am 5'3") the boot may hit you at an unflattering place on your knee if you choose to wear it with skirts where you can see the top of the boot. I decided to only wear it with skirts that come at least to the top of the boot, and it's just fine. I love the functioning buckle at the top which ensures the boot will stay up. My calves are 14.5 inches, and I had no problem whatsoever zipping the boot and no problems with it staying up. I agree the boot appears distressed, but this didn't bother me at all; it seemed in character. The leather is a little stiff but nothing that bothered me either, and I can be really picky. I thought the leather coming up behind my knee might bother me when sitting down, but I sat all day in them at work and had no problem at all. If you like this boot but want it just a tad shorter, Candies makes a similar boot that is not leather but still looks nice and is short enough to look good on short legs with a short skirt or tucked in pants. The calf runs a little smaller, and the buckle at the top isn't functional. FYI.

I saw this boot in the store; decided to buy online. Overall, I love this boot, they're high enough where I can wear my leggings with them, the buckle is sort of annoying because you must undo it to put on and take off the boot. The only complaint I'd have about this boot is although it is pictured black here, when I received them in the mail, they had white residue on them, I suppose to make them look worn in, but even after wearing them more than a few times, they still are not truly black. Otherwise love 'em!

These boots are perfect! I have searched and searched for a boot that would fit my muscular calf, and here it is! Very stylish and extremely comfortable. I get compliments every time I wear them. I'm even considering getting them in brown I love them so much!

This is a great boot. It was true to size. I was a little surprised at how tall the boot was. I am a pretty tall girl with long legs and it comes all the way up to my knees.

The quality of the boots was not the best, but I was still impressed with the quality/thickness of the leather for this price. I am 5'10" and they were not quite tall enough to be over-the-knee but also weren't short enough to be flattering. Totally cool look and construction though. Would have kept them if the were shorter. Not ideal for wearing with skinny jeans. Got a pair of Frye instead.

Felt a half-size smaller. Also, one panel on the inside of the left boot was a different texture and color leather -- almost grey looking and very weathered. It looked quite odd. I'm ordering the 9 in the hopes that the leather panels are consistent in color and texture.

These boots are hot! I bought the brown. They run a little large. I am usually a size 10 in Steve Madden shoes. I bought a size 10 they were slightly bigger. I threw on a pair of sweat socks and they fit much better. I thought the top buckle would be annoying, but when I pull the zip all the way down I can easily slip my foot out. The boot comes with what appears to be white residue, a cloth is provided to buff the boot. Personally I like the worn look. These shoes are comfortable and are very versatile with almost any outfit.

The boots are great. The one and only reason for the return is the color. They are not black! These boots are grey! Not even a dark grey. If you want grey boots these are it. the fit is perfect. too bad I have gray. I want black!

I liked the look of the boots, but the fit didn't work for me. The top of the boot hit right at the bend of my knee, making it uncomfortable to walk in them. If they would have been an an inch shorter, I probably would have kept them.

With the fun zipper in the back, these boots look great coming and going! I was looking everywhere for a pair of boots that where neither too motorcycle-ish nor too horsey-ish but still had fun style details, and these are winners! I was pretty sure I knew what I'd be getting but a few things surprised me when I took them out of the box and tried them on: I'm 5'8" and these boots hit me right at the kneecap - they are tall. I was concerned that with the listed 14 1/2" shaft circumference would be too tight, but the fit definitely feels more generous than that measurement. The vintage-effect on the leather really gives the boots a grey appearance rather than a true black, but that doesn't bother me. I think that the contrast with black is nice, and I wore my last pair of grey boots to death, so I know I'll get tons of wear out of these. I was also surprised by the thickness of the leather - seemed like good quality compared to other boots at this price-point (not quite as nice as my Frye boots, but also about half the price). The zipper in the back is adorable and totally makes the boot. My only beef with the detail is that it is kind of jingly when I walk, so I sound a bit like Santa's sleigh when I go by. Not a big deal in a crowded, noisy place, but I'm a little self-conscious of it when I walk around my quiet office. The fit itself is really comfortable. My excuse for purchasing these was a winter trip to Italy, and I wanted a versatile, flat boot that would stand up to the weather and be comfortable even with lots of walking. The foot of the boot is perfectly shaped (not too wide, not too narrow), and the rubber sole gives extra cushioning compared to a riding boot. As you can tell, I'm really pleased!
