I wish I had gotten a different suitcase. This suitcase is stylish and it rolls like a dream. I agonized over whether the few extra lbs as compared with the polycarbonate suitcases would make a difference...I have decided the problem isn't that but everything you pack in it is really the problem. My first trip the suitcase did incur scuffs and a few dents...I think the baggage handlers must make it a point to mess it up a little. I don't really mind the scuffs and dents. But the TSA had opened the suitcase and the contents inside got jumbled and they were hanging out of the suitcase...I don't know how they ever got the suitcase closed with stuff coming out the closure! The real problem with this suitcase is the clamshell design. You can't open this suitcase on a luggage rack (a critical problem); you have to have an extra bed to lay it out. Also the flap boards with the Velcro tighteners I find very difficult to work with when you go to shut the case everything on the top shifts and starts coming out the edges; the only thing good about them is the pockets in them. When I purchased this case, one reason I bought it was that it sealed shut...no zipper to close it...because zippers are easily opened with a ballpoint pen. Well, I am back to wanting a zipper closure again. It gives a little flexibility in closing the suitcase. I took this bag on a trip to India and Nepal...and had to pack up every day or every other day. It was a nightmare trying to get the suitcase closed. Because of the clamshell design, the Velcro flap boards, and seal shut design you just can't get as much into this suitcase. I am going to have to consider the Brigs and Riley torq because they did an 80/20 split; also the tumi tetra tech may be easier to use.

I do a lot of travel every year. I might be in South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia several times in one year. I generally travel business class but have flown economy when in Africa and short flights in Asia. I can say Remowa is fantastic for carry on bags but Caveat Emptor (buyer beware) if you buy for check in. I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND REMOWA FOR CHECK IN BAGGAGE. The wheels and locks are fragile, the slightest dent to your seam area in the aluninum models will cause ingress of water in a short time. The zippers are not heavy duty and these bags should never be overpacked. I would go TUMI for check in and stay away from all Remowa models for check in baggage. You buy a large Remowa for putting in the back of a automobile or train if you are trying to impress but you wont find serious travelers buying these cases for serious travel. Stick with Ballistic nylon. Your children will inherit them.

It's a great looking suitcase, but it does not last .I travel a lot, and bought it with hopes that it will be strong, light and easy to roll and it is - light and easy to roll, BUT i've had to exchange it for another one (same one - thank you, Zappos), because two months into using it the wheel broke off, and the body of the suitcase bent, the handle also caved in. Now I am on my 2nd one (wish I could return it all together) .and the same thing happened - part of the wheel fell off, the side caved in, the corners are all roughed up and it's looking like it's 10+ years old, when it's barely been on a couple of trips. It's a great looking suitcase, but not for heavy travelers. Maybe for an occasional, once a year trip, it would hold up, but if you're a heavy traveler and want to invest in a good suitcase, this is not the one.
