Love them!
I have been looking at these boots for about a year. The only thing keeping me back from ordering them was the shaft circumference at the top. I do a bit of sports: cycling and running and my calves are a bit big (okay, I am a bit chubby too, lol). I ordered the regular size I wear and they were a bit small and returned them. Then I ordered one size bigger and the shaft circumference was a bit bigger. I am so happy that I was able to work with Zappos to exchange the first pair and get one that fits me.
The boot itself is grand! It looks fab! It feels comfortable. The heel height is not too high not too small. The leather is soft--inside and outside!
The most important part of my review though: the circumference of the shaft is bigger than the 13" on the larger sizes. I ordered a size 7 and my calf measures 14.5 inches and it fits perfectly.

Sexy, comfortable, don't take themselves too seriously -
I bought half a size up, as advised. I think that was exactly right. They fit my foot well. They're also extremely well balanced; I could hardly believe the heel was as high as advertised.
The toe is so round that when I look down I keep wondering where my feet went -- these boots make them look impossibly short.
I agree that the calf is tight. I've never thought of myself as having big calves, but I'm short, so I guess the curve hits lower than it would on someone else. At first I despaired zipping them up, thinking I'd have to return the boots. It turned out all right, though; the leather stretches. I put on a slippery pair of tights, let the shafts crumple, zipped them farther down toward my ankle, and tugged them up a few times over the course of the afternoon.
I'm very fond of these boots. They're sexy, comfortable, and like all Fluevog's designs, they don't take themselves too seriously. They're my first Fluevogs ever, and they were a gift -- my budget range is usually lower -- but I'm hooked. Even at these prices I may consider getting Fluevogs again.

Best Boot!
This is an awesome boot! Based on the other reviews I ordered a half size bigger. It fits perfectly! I certainly don't think I have smaller than normal calves - they fit my calves just fine and I had been worried after reading the other reviews. They look great, are super comfy and I've gotten a ton of compliments. Now I want to get this in the other color too!

Beautiful boots, but at they run at least a half size small-- I'd go a full size up if you have slightly wide feet or don't like your shoes to fit close. I did not find the calf to be tight at all, but I would say that these boots are not made for heavy people. Fluevogs never are, unlike most boots these days. They are wonderfully padded inside, and the rounded toe makes even a large foot look small. These boots are a true luxury, they feel wonderful and exude class to people who don't need a logo to know quality.

Unbelievably sexy and a great fit!
Beautiful Italian leather, great quality, sweatshop-free -- another fantastic Fluevog. These make me feel like a rock star!

Definitely worth a try -
Quite simply, I love these boots. I did wait till they went on sale as hard as that was to do. However, they were worth it. They are cute and sexy, and can easily be worn day or night. I didn't have any problems with the calves, even though I ran into that problem with another pair of Fluevog’s I own (but they stretched out after a few wearings).
And what makes them even better is that they are from Zappos. Even if you aren't sure about the shoe, don't hesitate to do business with Zappos; they're absolutely great.

These shoes are GORGEOUS. But alas it is true. Skinny legs only. I have muscular calves which I thought were skinny. But these babies’s couldn’t even zip without pain. If you have skinny legs get them. They are fabulous. I wish I could wear them.

Such a beautiful boot... but only for skinny legs -
I had been in love with these boots for months, since they first went for sale by Fluevog. So I finally saved and ordered them, going a half size up like I always have to with Fluevogs. These boots hit right below the kneecap, and I made sure before I ordered that the "shaft" was 16 inches for a size 9. But I didn't take into account that my calf is bigger in the middle than it is in the top. So when they came, I couldn't get them zipped more than halfway. I'm so bummed, I had to send them back. They're only for people with no meat on their legs.

Skinny legs only-
They were not kidding... these are for super skinny legs only. If you have any muscle for a calf then you probably will not zip these puppies up. They are gorgeous though. The brown leather is to die for. I had to return them though because of my calf muscles (they are not that muscular in the first place). If you have super skinny calves these are for you. Athletic girls stay away.

Classy, flirty and fun-
OK, I will insist that Fluevog’s are not usually sized small, although most people disagree with me, but on this one, even I would say you need to go a half size large. The calf is quite slim as well- I don't think the 13" circumference can be accurate, since other boots with that circumference fit me fine. However, I got them stretched out just a little and now they are perfect.
I love the versatility of these boots. I can wear them to work or casually or out to a club and they always look great.

 |  | You people are the greatest! I do not for the life of me know how you do this stuff. Is it true that you have many, many little happy elves out there in your location outside Las Vegas? I hear they work 24/7 and love every minute of it; but that some have to take time off at Xmas to head for the Pole! Oh well I'm sure you get subs. Thank all of them for me!
