Gentle Souls Reviews
Maybe I am missing something here but if I pay this much for a pair of flats I expect to be wowed. I expect to be able to walk in them all day. If these were cheaper I probably would have rated them a little higher, but for the price, these are not worth the money. Here is why: As far as comfort, yes, these are better than your average flats. However, since they are priced well above your average flats, there is a huge deduction in rating. Comfort is a three to me, because for this price, I should not feel the zipper. Does it rub? No. Does it fit the description another reviewer gave as a "medieval torture device?" No. But, you can feel it. And it is kind of annoying. It is like a hard lump. As for the footbed, it looks lovely. It has those nice little pillows. It is very flexible, but it is not worth the money. You can get similar shoes for considerably less. For this much money, I should be walking on memory foam. I have slippers that put these to shame. If only I could wear them outside. I do not care if this amount is like nothing for you. That is not the point. The point is, for this much money, they could do much better, and I am a firm believer in getting what you pay for. I will pay for a brand name if it has got quality to back it up. These sadly do not. That's not to say they are not quality, they are. They just are not worth this price. And as someone who has a few pairs of cowboy boots that cost a small fortune, I do know what I am talking about here. I do dig the style. And these are very well made. The suede is gorgeous, and that is going to make it very hard to send these back (I am still undecided as to whether or not I will). The comfort, though, that is an issue. I know flats are not the most comfortable shoes in the world, but these boast many promising qualities in comfort that fall short. I guess the jury is still out. Beautiful shoes, just not the package deal.
A great little shoe! Comfortable, with it's wider toe-box, yet stylish. I've had many friends ask, "where did you get those?" All around real winners, and this from a woman who owns 65 pairs of shoes!
I love these shoes. They are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I feel as if I'm walking on a cloud. I have wide feet and a high instep and these shoes fit well. The antique pewter is beautiful and looks great with everything. I will definitely buy this brand again. They are a bit expensive but their comfort makes that ok.
Sorry, but these shoes has a funny, long pointed toe that sticks out in front and it's big and flat and clunky looking!
From the moment I received these, I haven't wanted to take them off. They feel like slippers. This was the first time trying Gentle Souls after reading countless reviews. I also ordered the Gabby model. The "Gabby" seemed large, but these seem truer to size and not as wide. They are flexible and buttery soft, as another reviewer accurately described. I do appreciate the support I feel in these shoes. The back strap seems to fit me just fine; it doesn't slide on my foot. I'm impressed with this shoe. And I love the color. It is very versatile.
I had been eyeing this shoe for quite some time before finally purchasing it. I researched countless options for my problem feet. They are quite comfortable. I usually wear a 10 and have narrow feet. The 10 was a little too big for me, so I will probably try the next size down. They really are buttery soft, as one review mentioned - such a true description. Flexible and yet supportive.
I'm trying these in a half size smaller than I usually wear. They felt so comfy but were too long! I'm afraid I'll trip over my toes, so I'm exchanging for the smaller size. I sure hope they work out, because I could see this being a go-to shoe choice with capri pants, summer skirts, or jeans. Fingers crossed! And thank you, Zappos, for letting me ship my exchange without charge - you guys are awesome.
These shoes have a real modern look. I love them so much I purchased the tan/orange trim pair, too. The foot bed has some cushion so it a very comfortable shoe. Who could ask for more?
These are THE MOST COMFORTABLE shoes ever! I just love them. The criss-cross elastic/design is sexy on a flat comfortable shoe! Thinking of getting a second pair to just have!
These are so comfortable and soft I almost cried. Very pretty sandal. True to size, but the straps are too wide. I didn't exchange them, though, because they don't have a narrow and maybe the straps won't feel so loose during the heat (foot swelling) of summer. Still, such a soft bed, I wish Gentle Souls made a lot more flat sandals.
My Mom ha narrow feet, and she loves the gladiator sandal style, but could not find a pair that fit properly. Based on the reviews on Zappos.com, I ordered the Break My Heart for her for Mother's Day. She absolutely loves them. The fit is perfect, even though a medium width, and the lace-up style allows her to make them narrower. The heel is perfectly snug, too, something that she struggled to find. She wanted to wear them to bed! Do not be afraid of "medium" if you or your gift recipient usually need a narrow width.
This shoe is really attractive. I get a great deal of compliments. The front strap IS narrow as others have stated. I have not had too much trouble stretching it out with wear, but it would have been better not to have had this problem, obviously. I have several Gentle Souls shoes and none of them have been too narrow. There is no arch support, but the pad under the ball and the heel of the foot make it comfortable for walking. My only complaint is that my foot tends to stick to the leather pad under the ball of my foot after a while and especially in hotter weather. This can hinder movement and cause the skin to become a bit sensitive.
COMFY! and cute too. For me, they needed no break-in period. The leather is super soft, the footbed is cushy, and they are wide enough. (Often I find "medium" width is a bit narrow and requires stretching. These do not.)
I love the look of these sandals. They were loose at first, but I put them on the last hole on the strap and fit just fine. They are narrower through the ball of the foot than I would have liked, but other than that the fit is very good. I have them in sand & orange. Look great with jeans & I'm sure they will look equally good with a skirt or summer dress. I get compliments on them whenever I wear them.
Considering the angle and height of the heel, I worried my feet would hurt in these after a couple hours of being worn, but I gave them a try anyhow. After a night out on the town, I had some discomfort on my balls of my feet...yet not the pain I usually feel after hours in high heels. Yay! I finally found heels that don't murder my feet. The truth is, though, these shoes are so dang cute, I'd have kept wearing them anyhow. They're exactly my style: fashionable yet understated yet graceful. Love them. I almost want to selfishly keep them all to myself so they can be mine and no one else can wear them! (Hehe. Sorry, just a bit of a me moment there.)
These are beautiful well made shoes that have a little zip and pop for a flat. I will buy them in the other color way. As I live in a hot climate, I often wear shoes without nylons or opaque knee highs. However, I will wear these with opaque knee highs. One reviewer stated the top of the shoes rubs a bit against the top side of the big toe. I anticipated this before purchasing; but that can be solved with the stocking. All-in-all very comfortable right out of the box and EXCELLENT quality.
As others have said, the strap was too large around the ankle, though the wonderfully comfy shoe bed itself was true to size. Also, the front strap seemed to be placed too far forward. My small toe struggled to stay under that strap. Well, I think it was struggling; who knows the mind of the small toe? I wanted this to work so much! I need height, but following foot surgery I can't wear heels yet. It seemed like the perfect answer, but short of remaking the shoe, it just couldn't work. Such a cute shoe! And the people at Gentle Souls are trying to do this right. Rats. I'll just have to love them from afar.
