I received these boots as a gift and I have had them for almost a week and I love them! They are super comfortable and very stylish! I normally wear a 7 or 7½ and I received a 7. They are a little big but they work! I wouldn't want them any smaller! I got the dark brown color and now I want to order them in black, they are really great boots!

These boots are beautiful. But I had to return them. They do not have a zipper or anything to help get them on - you have to just pull them on. I did not even try them on before sending them back because I could tell it would be very hard to get them on over jeans without the jeans bunching up. It really was too bad because they were gorgeous. If you only intend to wear them over tights, you will probably be okay.

This boot is gorgeous. I tried the Frye Dorado Riding boot first, but as great looking as it was, it just didn't fit. Like most reviewers I found it tight in the toes and wide in the heel. I called Frye directly to ask advice about whether it might "break in," but she suggested I try this boot, and she was right. This boot fits perfectly, and it feels comfortable right out of the box, just as most Frye boots I have tried. The only issue is that the shaft is very high. I am tall and long legged, but it still hits the back of my knee when I bend my leg to sit. It's not a problem, but I could see that it would be if someone were shorter.

Oh jeez, I loved these boots, but my leg is just too skinny for these. Had to return them.
Brands I'd also recommend: just find another Frye boot that works....there are hundreds of them.

These are beautiful boots and the shaft height being too tall I would think depends on how long-legged you are. I'm 5'4" and they're perfect. They are tight around the toe but I have bunions and am hoping they'll break in. I thought about purchasing the Dorado, but these are better with one pull tab on the outside. The shaft circumference is a tad, just a tad large, but that's ok because you can fit jeans, other than just skinny jeans, into them. They're pricey, but I'm hoping for years of wear as advertised. I recommend purchasing these boots, and I'm just hoping I can break the width in after some wear.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I am finally purchasing my first pair of Frye boots. I have been drooling over Frye boots for years now. Well, this is my second pair I have ordered and had to send back. I wear a size 11 in every shoe and boot except in Frye. I will be ordering a size 10 next. This boot is beautiful. I love the strong tower of leather. I wish more boots were like this. I bought a pair of Charles David over the knee boots and the quality didn't come close to this boot. Frye was cheaper. With the Rider Logo, I wish it came in a cognac color. I want more contrast with darker jeans. This boot was a little darker than anticipated. The calf was a little wider, but great for skinny jeans. I think that will change for the better when I go to a size 10. I also wasn't too happy with the sharper toe look. What I am really looking for is a Frye version of an English riding boot. Love the top half of this boot, but would really like a more rounded toe... less western. Otherwise, I am excited about continuing to try out all the Frye options.

These boots are GORGEOUS. If only they fit me! The shaft is PERFECT. First boots I've ever had that truly fit like a riding boot. However, my feet won't stay down when I walk. In other words, my heels slip up with every step. I've never had anything like that happen. I was also a bit disappointed that these are made in Mexico. However, the leather is gorgeous, the cut-out logo is stunning. I was crushed that they just didn't fit properly.

OK, I literally just got these 15 minutes ago. OMG, they are amazing. Stunning quality. I am a Frye boot girl from way back. If you want statement boots, riding boot style these are it. I know they are pricey but you will understand when you slip them on. Absolutely a 1/2 large so go down. I am 5'11; with long legs and the back of the boot is just an inch and a half below the back bend of my knee. I also have slender legs but they look great and will accommodate skinny jeans. I hesitate recommending to ladies with larger calves but hey the quality is worth giving them a try.

These are beautiful boots, but the calf dimension is very skinny! I have other Frye boots and they are perfect, but these fit very tight around the calf.

I am so sad that I have to return these! The length was about a size too big and the calf was so narrow that I could not even get them on all the way! I do not have large calves by any means so this was very odd. These were my favorites and I am so sad that they did not work out.

These boots are amazing! I've had them for about a month now, and wear them a lot. They are very comfortable, stylish and look good. I'm thinking about ordering them in black as well.

Really pretty boots. Quality leather. Unfortunately, I had to return mine because they were just too tall. They were so tall on my leg that I was unable to sit down comfortably. There is more than enough to tuck pants into them if you have to. Best to buy straight leg pants though. But lots and lots of room if need be. Since they are Frye, a predominately western style boot, they do have a pointy, upward turning toe. Frye quality definitely seems to be there.

I love these boots! Both the black & redwood colors are beautiful &, of course, very well made. But the boots are absolutely stunning in the redwood! The logo shows up much better & they are more unique looking in the redwood color than in the black. Strangers stop to ask me about them & both male & female friends notice & compliment them! I had wanted Frye boots for years but not only had the price stopped me from buying but I have a narrow foot & the Frye boots I had tried on were always too wide. The Dorado Riding boots were beautiful but were so big on my narrow foot that I could just kick them off. I initially ordered my normal size 7 1/2 in black & the redwood in size 7. I wound up sending both back & getting the redwood in a 6 1/2, a full size smaller than I usually wear. Not only are these boots gorgeous but they were very comfortable from day 1. There was no break in time as I had expected. They are very well made. The soles are textured to avoid slipping & the rubber on the back end of the heel makes walking very easy & comfortable too. Even though I've had them a few weeks I have worn them many times & they are extremely comfortable, they fit well, are beautiful & I get so many compliments! They are well worth the money! And I am so thankful to have these boots! Did I mention that I love these boots?

This boot is stunning. Superb styling. Stiff (stands straight, doesn't bend) but gorgeous leather. I'm 5'2 and the back of the boot hits 1.5" below the bend of the back of my knee. I was afraid it would be too tall but good thing I wear a 6. Of course, the bigger the size, the taller the shaft.

Just received these boots. Boot is nice, color is beautiful, except; I would have been happy if they were not so pointy-toed. Not really looking for the Texan look. Apart from that I believe (would have loved) a zipper would have been more user friendly. Would be easier to put on and and take off. My daughter had to help me pull them off. Not liking that! I'm returning them.

These are the most beautiful shoes I own. I am usually a 7 to 7 1/2 and the size 7 in these boots fit perfect. I wrote this review to tell women with normal sized calves (i.e. not plus sized, no offense) that these boots are perfect. I am 5'4 and 115 lbs and these boots can fit skinny jeans, tights, nothing. The leather is so beautiful in person. I bought to redwood color. They honestly go with everything. They are so comfortable sometimes I forget I have them on. Also, they do not cause blisters. You can wear the for miles. These are in investment but will last for years. Also, They are stiff so they stay upright.

Money well spent! These boots are not only well made, but they are also quite stylish and very comfortable. Opened the box, put them on and off I went---comfy from the start. I would definitely recommend these boots to all.
