Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

This is my first pair of Frye boots but, it will not be my last.It took several tries to get the correct size. I normally wear a 71/2 in shoes and sometimes an 8 in boots. I down sized to a 7 but found them to be too wide. After ordering several boots in size 7 I found the sand color seemed to run a bit narrower. May just be the boot and not the color, but as long as they fit it is worth the effort of retuning and reordering. Very easy to break in no pain what so ever. This style is very versatile and not took tough looking for an order woman like me.Great with skinny jeans or bootcut. Also work well with casual pants. I think they will also look great with some dresses, if I can work up the courage to wear them that way. A great investment.

I have been searching for the perfect pair of boots for a couple years. These are now my it boot. They are surprisingly versatile. Not too cowboy (straight top and squared toe), not too urban, not too polished, not too faux distressed, not too tall. They look great with skinny jeans, leggings, bootcut jeans, dresses, and skirts. I am usually on the small side of an 8.5 but went with the 8 in these and they fit perfectly after about a week of breaking in. I would definitely order down if you're on the fence regarding size. They felt very narrow to start but stretched out fine. These boots feel indestructible so are pretty heavy to wear but I don't mind because they'll last forever.

I have a pair of boots very similar to these in style and in the spice color. I looked on the inside of the boot to see if I could find the name of the boot, but it wasn't there. Although I bought my boots about 35 years ago when I was in my 20's, they look as though the day I bought them. I swear on the Frye name and would never invest in any thing but the Frye boot or shoes. I would also say don't be afraid of the expensive price on the Frye boots. They will outlive any boots on the market & in the long run cost you less money when you purchase Frye if they last you half the time than mine has lasted me. If I had purchased another brand other than the Frye boots I have, I know I would probably had to replace them long before now. I still don't need a new pair of boots cause they still look and wear as the day I bought them 35 years ago. I absolutely love them. They're the most comfortable boot that I've ever owned. I also bought the boot true to size.
I'd also recommend: none but the Frye name after my 35 year experience with these boots

First pair of Frye boots and they are better than I imagined! Fantastic quality and the cognac color is beautiful, but go a half size down from your normal size. I wear an 8.5 in almost everything, but they were definitely too big even with thick socks. The 8s were comfortable right away with my Smart Wool socks (great for winter!). The fit well under bootcut and flared pants and over my skinny jeans and jeggings (14.5" calves). First time out of the box, I wore them shopping for 6 hours with no trouble.

Absolutely fabulous boot. I have tried other styles of Frye before and they didn't fit just right but this one is true to size and easy enough to pull on. Fits well with skinny jeans or leggings underneath as well. The sand color is great, looks even better in person than online in the picture. I normally wear 7-7 1/2 in shoes so I took a chance and ordered the larger size first, but it was far too big. I called and Zappos customer service sent the size 7 out the same day with next day delivery based upon crediting me for the pair that I still had to return. Excellent customer service. The size 7 is perfect and I can comfortably wear them all day with no problems. Oh, and they look awesome. :*)
