This is the first pair of Docs I've bought in about 10 years. It's good to have them back on my feet! I know that some reviewers have said that there is a lengthy break-in period, but for me these boots felt great right out of the box! Over the course of a week they molded to my foot and now they are just incredible. I wear them every day to work (I own a restaurant) and I'm on my feet 12 to 16 hours a day, 6 or 7 days a week. They are a blessing to my feet, and I know they'll last me many years. They were a great buy!

Awesome boots! Very warm and comfortable for wearing all day especially on cold days. Normally wear a 7 1/2 and ordered 8 and they fit great. Very easy to pull on. Would love to have in neutral color.

I ordered these for my husband at his request. He normally wears a 9.5 US. The UK 9 was definitely too big for him but the UK 8 seems a bit tight. His toes are right at the edge of the boot. He also says the boots are a bit painful to wear for more than about an hour. I have encouraged him to break them in since they're fairly soft leather but I don't really think he's going to. (I think he might if he paid for them himself!) He's generally tender-footed; so I think a person more willing to deal with a break-in period would be happy with these boots. As always Zappos service is excellent.

I have been wearing the Dr. Martens Jenny boot over the last couple of months and I like the boot. It is comfy, it is warm and dry, and makes the feet feel well protected even when digging out of a 21" blizzard(!), which was our first snow of the winter and my first venture out with the boots! They hold up their good looks and have great traction in the heavy snow. Well worth the money. I have been looking for a boot like this for a while.

Very comfy and warm, decent in the snow and cold (I did spray them with waterguard). Only problem i have with these boots is that they are absolutely HUGE in the calf, could not wear these with tights or leggings, even with pants tucked in there is lots of space around the leg.

Very disappointed with this purchase. I ordered my standard size 12US/UK11, 1460 black smooth finish. I also have a different style of 3 hole docs the same size 12. Once I received the boots, first thing I did was to put in inserts. I ordered inserts as well, after reading reviews here. Then I tried to put them on, and I couldn't even get my foot in with them completely unlaced!! So I proceeded to pull out the insert, and double check that I'm not stacking it on top of a factory one. Nope, just as I received them, no insert (which is what I expected). I next tried putting them on without any insert, and the fit is VERY tight along the top of my foot were the laces start. This of course also means that it is squeezing the sides of my foot as well, along with coming a little to narrow in the toes. I have average size width for my shoe size, and never had a problem before. Sadly, they feel just about right in the length, and a little loose in the heel. That said, I feel that going another size up might give me some room in width (I'd hope), but then to long in length. I don't understand anyone who says they run big, as it's just the opposite (how heck does anyone use inserts?). All in all, I'm probably going to return them. Sad, because they are a good looking boot and I was looking forward to getting them. Still thinking it's weird at how tight they fit...but what can you do. Zappos was great, and even received my order early, so no issue there. I'll order from this site again, just never another pair of docs. These are getting returned in a few days when I have a chance.

After reading other reviews, I finally decided to order me a pair of these adorable shoes. I wear a size 9 but after reading how many of the buyers felt they were bigger, I ended up ordering a size 8 and also because that was the only size left. I think they are a little snug on the top of my foot but they will stretch. They really do feel like a size 9 but just a little snug. I am so glad that I ended up getting these shoes and that they actually fit. I can't wait to wear them out.

I'm not sure if there's anyone left who doesn't know Dr Martens are incredibly comfy (bouncy soles) and sturdy. I bought these for my daughter in nyc. She loves them, look great, and hold up under tons of walking all over the city! As always zappos was wonderful! We exchanged these shoes for color and not only did I get free overnight shipping back and forth, my credit card was only billed once! No double billing while we waited for the exchange to go through! Talk about above and beyond! Thanks Zappos!

I love them! They are very comfortable and stylish. The leather is thick enough that it'll take a while to soften up, but I knew that already after having had other Dr. Martens.

They are quite comfortable, however, if you are prone to foot problems, you may want to try orthotics with them as they are designed somewhat old school with just a leather footbed, which I personally love about them. I was originally concerned about other reviewers saying that they were really hard to break in, but compared to my pair of Danner Acadias break in which I thought would actually result in the amputation of both of my feet, these boots surprisingly felt like a pair of sneakers right out of the box. Basically if you want a pair of aggressively cool looking boots that will be very comfortable these are the boots for you, just be careful of the sizing. I ordered my standard size of 12US which all of my previous docs are, and had to use the outstanding Zappos return and exchange service for a pair in size 13.

These aren’t shiny, nor are they the roughed up leather. They are that perfect blend of between. You will need insoles for arch support.

Great style, but too big and stiff. Others aren’t kidding about the need to break these in. Ouch! I gambled and ordered my regular size, but had to return: way too big. Decided to exchange for a different Doc Martens style with softer leather. Love the look though.

These boots rock. Soft leather upper makes them much more comfortable than the other DM pair I ordered (thanks Zappos for the easy return!). Adjustable straps are great for tailoring your look: jeans in vs. tights. I can see how others would add more holes if their calves are slim, but they’re fine as is for me. I wear 9W and the 8 fits perfectly. Lots of room in the toe box.

The boots would be absolutely perfect if not for the fact that I do have a high arch, so they did pinch a lot on the upper part of my foot where the laces start. I am so sorry to have to return them, but it was impossible to wear them, and being that they are made of this plastic-like leather, they would not give in with time, so I didn’t want to risk it.

AAAH the world famous 1460!! These are by far my favorite pair of boots I have. I have trouble putting into words the joy that washes over me after work when I lace these babies up, the quality is impeccable, the fit is second to none, and the cool factor is through the roof. I usually wear a 9.5 in most US boots, so I went up to the 10 US and they have enough room to put a nice work style comfort insole in and not be too snug. I also wear the seven eye Icon to work and even after wearing them all day, I still look forward to wearing these boots as my after work footwear.

I ordered this in navy blue on Thursday morning, and received it the next morning! That was extremely pleasing to me, and shipping was for free! That was a great selling point for me to buy from Zappos. However aside from Zappos, the boot itself was a little less comfortable than I had imagined. If you’re not going to wear long socks, or tuck your pants into the shoe, the tongue (when brand new) may start wearing at the skin on your shins. Other than that, the color is great, and I was also happy to see it came w/ optional yellow laces in the box, because it adds some extra flavor!

Very dramatic boots, look great. I agree with others that it takes about 10 minutes to lace up. They also take awhile to break in, the leather is pretty stiff. Mine still aren’t totally broken in. I encountered blisters and skin scraps on the Achilles tendon area of my foot. The shoe laces should be a couple inches longer. By the time they are laced up, there is not much left to tie a bow. A pull strap on the top back of the boot would also help when pulling the boot on. Still, a great looking boot, but expect a time commitment when lacing them up and breaking them in.

Let me get this out of the way; I love Zappos. After reading the reviews about this boot (Karsen), I decided to order a size 10, thinking that it must run really big in size as far as length (I wear a 10.5/11 normally). The 10 was just a little bit too small (tips of toes touched), so, I sent back for a size 11. This worked. Also, these boots are not the “oily” finish I like, and the inside flap that runs along the zipper is vinyl. However, they still generate stares and favorable comments and still pack the Dr. Martens image. For the most part, I’m happy.

I wanted a pair of sturdy, warm, and non-Ugg boots. Doc Martens have never disappointed in the "sturdy" department and I'm glad that they've made a pair of cute, feminine, warm, and comfortable winter boots. I wear a size 5: these fit very snugly as they are lined with fleece so they might be tight on some people. The advantage is that you don't have to wear thick socks with these boots. I've worn these under jeans, with skinny jeans tucked in, and with tights and a skirt - they don't look bulky at all, very flattering in fact. The boots are really warm and I didn't need any break-in time. The only drawback is that they are made out of suede and so a day in a foot of snow is probably not a good idea. I did spray them with a protective layer and they have stood up to slush and rain. Love these boots!

I just got these in the mail today. I was so excited! I ordered them at 5pm and got them 6pm the next day. YAY ZAPPOS! They are true to size for me, I wear a 9. They laced up perfectly for me, I don’t know what these other people are talking about. Maybe I just have small calves. Since they are new, they are squeaky and a little stiff, but they aren’t as bad as people have been making them out to be. I’ve been wearing them for a few hours now. JUST MAKE SURE YOU WEAR SOCKS. LONG SOCKS. They will rub against your skin. Ankle socks are not appropriate here. Besides, knee length socks look so cute poking out from the tops of these!

This boot was more or less what I was looking for (a sturdy pull-on without steel toe). I can’t complain about the materials or assembly detail at this point as all the pieces looked good, no loose stitching, no obvious defects. But they are taking a LONG time to break in, especially to my left (bigger) foot. The part that’s taking the longest is across the top of the foot, it’s too tight and isn’t stretching as I’d expected (then again, it’s winter and cold ~ they don’t get worn indoors anywhere). I’ve had to take breaks from wearing them as they cause tenderness across the top of my foot, plus they’re now biting at my Achilles (just an odd stage of break-in). I ordered the UK12, normally wear a US13, and these seem about 1.2 size small. But I know from experience that UK13s are loose and floppy on my feet. Comfort rating is low only because of my specific issue... and it’s much too late to send them back to Zappos now (I thought they’d break-in quickly). This was my first experience with slip-on boots too I might add. Well, outside of snow boots at least (which are always a bit loose and floppy to have that insulating air gap).

About Dr. Martens

Dr. Martens One of the most respected and well-know icons in the world, Dr. Martens' boots, shoes, work shoes, and sandals continue to set the standard for durability, comfort and fashion. Dr. Martens's trademark look and quality construction has been recognized world-wide since 1960.

Where the classic 1460 style was being used by mailmen, union workers, and factory workers, it soon became popular among the masses. The 1460 continues to thrive, symbolizing individualism, originality, and taps into a individual's unique style who's willing to make that bold statement.

Dr. Martens doesn't think of itself as a "shoe" brand, but rather a way of thinking, a self-expression if you must. Popularly known as Doc Martens, they allow you to feel free to rock your grunge shorts, spike up your hair to the heavens, showoff your body art, whatever floats your boat. So whether you call them Dr. Martens, Doc Martens or just Docs there are no limits to your creativity.
