I purchased a pair of these in May 2013. The boots lasted over two years with heavy use until now, July 2015. This was my only pair of shoes, and has survived field work, chemical spills, and harsh treatment. The reason for replacement at this time is due to the sole finally tearing near the arch, exposing the leather. The good: The shoe was tough, and quite comfortable. As this is my only shoe, it wore it to somewhat formal occasions (well shined of course), and the style made it work in those situations. Survived concentrated nitric acid spill, kept toes safe. The bad: The laces are terrible. They gave way very early, and I replaced them with something much stronger. The heel broke off of each shoe around the same time in the first year. It was an easy repair, but it supports what some people say about the lower quality of Doc Martens from China. Late in year 2, the fabric liner around the heel split completely. There had been holes in it for some time, but this split was total. There was no good way to repair it, and it made the shoes slightly less comfortable to wear during this period.

The style can't be beat for funky/casual. It's not an "elegant" sandal (thin straps, thin sole, etc.) -- but that's not my style. As with all Doc Martens, the sole is stiff, and will take some breaking in -- I wear them at home for a couple hours at a time -- still working on it. But good foot support. And like all Doc Martens, runs large.

I love Doc Martens and was delighted to discover the flip flops. I ordered one pair and then I read some reviews. A customer, Jen, from Sacramento said she bought two pairs and I thought "I can do that" and promptly ordered my second pair. The first pair arrived today and I love them. Super comfortable. I would have preferred that they were a little tighter but I have already gotten used to them. Fabulous. I have the cherry red ones and the tan and black both as an investment into my feet for the next few years. They look and feel like they will last forever.

Out of all the 15+ DM's I have, these by far have been the biggest let down. Had them for 2 months and they broke.

Super comfortable and cute sandals. I didn't find the front strap to be too big, as the previous reviewer did. They took literally no time to break in. The first day I owned them, I wore them the entire day, mostly standing and walking. And they look very cool! Highly recommended!

These shoes are very cute and stylish. Unlike other Dr. Martens, these didn't feel like they required too much of a break in period. Much more supple than my 1461W! Though, I would still advise wearing thick socks for a bit so the leather can become more soft. The strap is a bit tough to get to the right notch; it has some give but I'm sure this will soften up with time. The shoe fits pretty well except for an extra inch or so in the toe box area. I was worried the shoe was half a size larger but once I started walking around I hardly noticed and am kind of glad I had room to move around since these are leather shoes (going barefoot would rub!). Overall, a great purchase!

First time buying a pair of "Docs" and I couldn't be happier. They fit perfectly and look great. They go well with both dress pants and jeans and I have already had several compliments on them. My daughters even say they are cool.

An updated take on the classic. I like the soles, they are less bulky and almost feel like comfortable high top sneakers. My only complaint is that the tongue slides toward the side really bad. I am constantly adjusting it, to no avail. Otherwise I love these shoes.

I have been buying Doc Martens for several years for work and have always been pleased. I have a high instep and require a insole. Since Docs are a little wider than my usual width, the insole makes the fit just about perfect. I recently retired and no longer had need of steel toed boots. I wanted a nice casual but beefy boot and noticed the Diego from Doc Marten. Well, I decided to go with the brand I'm familiar with. My boots just arrived and I am quite pleased overall. They are very stylish and surprisingly light in weight. They fit just fine. However, there is one thing I should report. If you buy this boot and plan to replace the insole, be careful. The insole that comes with this boot is not the kind that can be easily removed in that it is partially glued. It can be removed, but take it slow and you shouldn't have any trouble. I think I will really like these boots after a brief break-in period. Really cool boots.

I've worn Docs for 20+ years. They're comfy and they wear like steel. These are no different. When you get them, wear them around the house with some thin socks to break them in a bit. After the breaking in period, these will be fantastic. They're a bit on the heavy side, but they work well with pants, skirts, dresses and jeans. Versatile and office appropriate, you'll have these in your closet for years to come.

This my third pair of Drs boots purchased in two years. I picked these up because color blue unlike the other Drs. There was no break in period with this pair. Guys, you are in between sizes and wear narrow in width, go down. If you wear medium, go up. For example, wear 10.5 meduim size up to 11 medium. Woman sizes I don't know.

The size is an 6 which is an 8US. I take an 8 1/2 and was told to order down a size; however, the shoe is too big even though it's a 1/2 size smaller than I would take. If I go down the next size, I'm sure it will be too small! I have decided to use them in the cold weather with heavy socks because they are very sharp looking!

I've been very happy so far with these. Not sure how they will survive this winter. They look great and fit quite well, although I definitely recommend brief wears for a week or so to break them in. Yes, as others have pointed out, you have to be okay with a certain retro/clown quality to them, but that's part of the appeal for me. I've gotten a lot of compliments when I wear them, but I suspect some of those people are just haters making fun of me behind my back. Whatever. I take comfort in the knowledge that I can kick them mercilessly with these steel toed Docs. The steel toe makes them heavy though, so if you walk a lot during your day it's sometimes like untying two bricks from your feet when you get home; which is a sensation I kind of enjoyed for some reason. Go figure.

I just received these! I absolutely love them. I got both the cherry red tattoo and black/brown tattoo ones. Pictures do not do them justice! They fit well. I have wide feet no issues at all. They provide great arch support, overall they are really good shoes that are comfortable. Dr. Martins are just overall great quality shoes.

The 8053 has to be the best all around shoe that Dr. Marten has made to date. I had 1 other pair which lasted at least 8 + years. This year I bought my second pair only different color. They are still the same quality shoe as before. I hope Dr. Marten never changes the specs of the 8053 shoe.

I feel like crying tears of gratefulness. These shoes have renewed my faith in quality footwear. They offered me instant relief from a painful instep corn. It's as if the shards of glass have been removed. Thank you Bro. John for your wisdom.

Nice boots for casual wear. Definitely not for real blue collar work or long periods of tramping about. I have a low arch and these are very comfortable. Also I wear a D width and they fit loose without and insole. The leather requires little to no break in time. Size 12 slightly big.

Perfect for those days when you want to feel punk, but also not stand out too much. I get so many compliments! I recommend socks with sandals for the first week or two- breaking them in was a little painful. The platform is around an inch- just enough to be chunky. Highly recommend. My outfits are vastly improved.

Dr. Martens are the right shoe for people who are on their feet all day. Great support, very comfortable from the first time you put them on. Durable you cant wear them out. I have two other pairs. One is 6-7 years old the other is 8-9 years old the soles and heels are still like new.

I have been looking for a comfortable pair of brown boots. I was so pleased when I saw these in the Doc Marten's inventory, and most pleased when I laced them up and they fit like a glove: roomy toe box, comfortable, and lightweight. Plus, no stiff boot requiring a painful break in period like a couple pair of Doc oxfords in my closet. Also, I wear orthotics which fit nicely after easily removing the liner.
