David Tate Reviews
So happy to find a decent looking shoe in a wide width. And I last most of the day comfortable. The only thing that gets uncomfortable towards the end of day when the foot has swelled is the cross strap that goes across the top of the foot.
I have had to wear poorly fitting shoes my entire life as often 5.5 WW isn't even available. These shoes fit comfortably, which is especially rare for a style with straps across the widest part of my foot. These were very stylish for my daughters wedding with a desirable heel height-flattering but not ridiculous. A little bit of cushioning on the insole would be nice. I will definitely look at this brand in the future.
Love this sandal. Very comfortable, beautiful color goes with the turquoise/mint green that is so popular this season. I had never bought this brand before, but will add it to my favorites! Super service from Zappos, as always!
Very nice shoes, a classic. Great for work. My one complaint is that these took forever to break in, and while they were in that stage, the shoe would dig into the top of my foot (near the toes) which was none too comfortable. However, after months of wearing, they are finally broken in and now they feel totally fine & comfortable.
7WW Review Double-wides, rejoice. This shoe will fit you (and me!) and it doesn't look like a surgical shoe or an orthopedic shoe or a clodhopper. This babies actually taper and elongate my Fred Flintstone feet! And their cute! You know this is no small feat for a WW shoe. And it's got a heel! Trifecta! By the end of the day my feet hurt, but my feet seem to always hurt, even in ugly shoes. My sister once described my shoe collection as a nice assortment of phys ed teacher meets euro comfort walk shoes collection, just to give you an idea of what I'm typically wearing. If you have trailer (double wide) feet like mine, buy these. I bought 2. The taupe/black are particularly cute and nice for spring and summer!
I'm having a hard time with this particular brand; out of two styles I have tried, both run large and wide. To be fair, I am experimenting with getting the right fit for my feet, which have become swollen and larger, in general, since developing rheumatoid arthritis a few years ago. I am desperate to find real and stylish shoes that fit, as I have been wearing Crocs exclusively for the last few years.
These shoes are very comfortable and stylish to wear. As a matter of fact I was looking to purchase white sandals at another store and my husband told me to try Zappos and I did. I love these shoes!
It was a nice style, and I had high hopes for the narrow, which was sufficiently narrow, however it just seemed to run a little too short, and would've crushed my toes in the long run.
This is my first pair of David Tates ever, and I love it. I got these sandals in green to match my purse, and I have a lot of clothes that can be worn with these sandals as well. Great, eye-catching color. I particularly love that these sandals have heels. Not too high--comfortable enough for my everyday uphill trek from the train station to my office--but high enough to give the entire look a little oomph. They are true to size and width, although you may want to reconsider if you have really wide feet because your feet may "spill" over the edges. The foot bed is lined with soft velvety material making the sandals reasonably comfortable. The arch support is moderate and the sling back strap adds to stability. Overall a great pair of shoes, though a little bit on a pricey side.
Just to add to my review (sorry, I know it was already long and probably a bit repetitive), but I just read the other reviews, and I must agree/affirm and it was indeed very hard getting the buckle on. The prong that it supposed to go through the hole in the strap (you know, as in all buckles) is flopsy left to right, and doesn't want to center on the hole -- and then the point of the prong is thick and rather blunt. AND the holes in the strap are tiny and barely punched through, and yes, the leather on the strap is a little stiff -- not in a way that i think will make for blisters (tho I haven't worn yet as i am awaiting that 1/2 size down that I -- and everyone else -- have found i need to exchange my first try for...), but such that it makes it even harder to look down under there and see what is going on with the buckle!!! In other words, yes, ladies, I agree hard to put on! However, I am thinking an awl will make the holes bigger, if I am careful, and that and a little practice might make it all worth while! (I will have to sit down and look at what I am doing when I put them on! lol! Very pretty so worth it, if the smaller size and wider size work out! Sorry again long!
Runs narrow and long, I believe. Because for an 8W, which usually fits me with David Tate, the side of my foot was still hanging out all along the outside portion of the shoe -- and yet it was a bit long also. I am sending it back to get a 7 1/2 EE. Typically WW or EE or DD is too wide for me, and typically a 7 1/2 is too short. But since the 8W was too narrow and too long, maybe it will work. If you have a wide foot, consider going "down" in terms of size, and going "up" in width. At least, that was my experience. I am hoping this fix works for me, because it is a very pretty shoe. Many wedges make me (as a short, slightly stocky woman with wide, muscular calves and short legs) look bogged down and stumpy I feel -- in other words, wedges don't give me an elongated lankier look even though they are high on a platform. That is because it isn't an airy look, but rather they can look bulky and draw the eye down to the ground (in my opinion -- or at least that is the best way I can describe how it looks to me!). And yet these are a bit more delicate in that sense, because the wedge tapers "inward" under the footbed, and it is a little less heavy and clunky than most wedges. Also, the color is unobtrusive and blends/flows nicely from my (Caucasian) leg -- it just a slightly more delicate than most wedges. Pretty!
These shoes are great. I got the extra wide because I will be on my feet most of the time I will be wearing them. Very comfortable with extra room. The arch padding/support increased the comfort. I strongly recommend these shoes for anyone.
Fantastic shoe! Sexy, comfortable enough to even walk around a casino for hours. Highly recommend this shoe for women with very wide feet. They just don't make sexy, comfortable shoes for really wide feet. So, if they have this one in your size...snag it! Need more colors David Tate!
I ordered these shoes for my son's wedding. I normally wear an 11 1/2 wide or 12 medium. After reading reviews I ordered 11 1/2 wide. They are about a half size too long, but fit well in width. Since Zappos was out of the next smaller size, the wedding was imminent and I liked the style, I kept them and did the best I could to keep them on. I still love Zappos and will continue to buy all my shoes here.
I have a wide foot and high arch and instep, so finding shoes that fit is a challenge. These strappy sandals are very roomy and the straps don't cut into my feet. I have purchased other David Tate shoes and find them to be wider than most. There is no arch support so I use Dr. Scholl's clear arch support inserts and that gives me the support I need.
I love this slingback. It's very nice looking, and also comfortable. Looks even better than in the photo.
Finally, a low-heeled dressy sandal that comes in different widths! Hooray! The N fits my narrow, low volume foot perfectly. These are perfect for a summer party. I could not have found my size at the mall; thank you Zappos for carrying N width.
Bought these in silver for my daughter's wedding in 2009. I put in a small stick on silicone arch support since I knew I'd be on my feet a lot. I have wide feet, and these were amazingly comfortable. I figured I'd kick them off, early on, but ended up wearing them all night.

Tate Shoe Company was founded by four brothers from a family of traditional shoemakers. They followed in the footsteps of their father who served in executive positions with several international shoe manufacturing companies in the post-war era of the 1950s. After investigating the flourishing retail shoe market of the 1970s, they concluded that there was a need for a fresh-looking line of ladies'
