Capezio Dance Shoe - This is a great looking dance shoe, a little pricey and I found the shoe which I ordered in a WW to be narrow, and a full size to small. The shoe is made in Brazil. I actually got a shoe that I feel is almost custom made for my shoe, it took me three tries but I think I have a great fit. I was to the point of giving up ever getting a dance shoe as I have a wide foot with a bunion to boot. The leather on this shoe is outstanding; I can't wait till I have them broken in. I could not find a dance shoe anywhere else due my wide foot. If I can just learn to dance as well as this shoe performs I will be tickled... Bill B

I ordered these 360s as men's character shoes, so I can not speak for them as tap shoes. Although I do know that most serious dancers have them built up when they get taps attached, so that is something to consider if you're looking at these as tap shoes. As men's characters, you wear them as is. These are considered one of, if not, “the” best, so I won't rave about their quality, because that has been established! I will say, however, that they ARE very difficult to size as everyone has said before me. I already own a pair of men's Capezio taps (a more basic model) and even though I wear a 10.5 street shoe, I fit in a size 8 (Capezio) for those. This however does NOT apply to these particular shoes. I ordered an 8.5 thinking they would fit just fine and couldn't even get them on my feet they were so small. I had to reorder a pair 2.5 sizes larger. Do your best to fit according to street size, do not compare them to Capezios you already own: you will have to return the pair you order, just as I had to. I would say, as a man, order a half size larger than street shoe. Although it really does depend. Be prepared to send the first pair back in, as it is very difficult to get a perfect fit straight away. I was VERY satisfied with Zappos costumer service when I had to return and re-order. I talked to two different representatives and both were extremely helpful, cheerful and chatted with me while the transactions went through.

Best tap shoe out there as of this writing! Some people complain about these shoes being difficult to fit, but I don't think it's too tough. I have one foot that's a women's size 8 medium and the other is a size 8.5 medium, and I bought these in a size 7 medium and they fit like a dream right out of the box with no "break in." No heel slippage or rubbing for me, although if you wear an orthodic the heel feels short (according to my professional tap dancing partner). Don't buy the B/narrow width unless you honestly wear a narrow street shoe. We have these built up for weight, add the taps, and you're good to go! Plus, unlike those awful riveted taps seen on a lot of student model tap shoes these days, these can be repaired a zillion times, if needed, with some crushed up toothpicks and a little wood glue to fill the hole back in... insert the screw and... Voila! You're back in action!

These shoes own - Oh man these shoes are the greatest, but Capezio tells women to order 2 size down from what you normally wear. I only ordered one size down and they fit great!! These shoes are kinda hard to break in but once you do they're incredibly comfortable! <333 these shoes+

Capezio K360 Tap Oxford - A difficult shoe to fit, but excellent when you get the right size. For women, order 1/2 size down from street shoe size, and you may need to order a wide (if you are a medium), unless you take narrow. Be aware they will need to be taken to shoe repair to have the soles built up, and possibly the heel too. Come without taps, so you will need to have those installed as well. The result will be a tap shoe such as you have never experienced! No wonder professionals use these! And the prices at Zappo's are the BEST!

Additional Brand Information

Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy. Uninterested in following in his father’s footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio’s popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes.

The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance.

Capezio products remain in the forefront in quality and in technological advances with innovations like the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker® and the Tapsneaker. Capezio believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater and recreation in communities worldwide.

Elegant shoe, but watch the fit! This is an elegant shoe, beautifully made in Brazil of fine materials the way all shoes used to be made. There's a steel shank in the shoe, and the sole is relatively thick and stiff compared to most dance shoes. Capezio's website states that you should order a full size above your street shoe size, and that's the minimum. (I wear a size 9, and ended up with a 10.5.) This shoe is built upon a unisex last, so it's definitely narrower than most American shoes. However, this is necessary in a dance shoe, and the soft leather will stretch to fit your foot.

Good shoe, difficult to size - The shoe itself is high quality and comfortable. The first size I ordered felt much too narrow, so I exchanged it for a wide. The wide fits much bigger overall than the medium. The fit is different than they used to be years ago when I purchased my last pair. Zappos was great about the exchange and I probably should have done one more exchange for fit, but I didn't... my own fault.

We saw these tap shoes for the sale price and just about had a heart attack. Haden has a pair of these shoes that cost almost $300.00 after they were built up and got the taps. To find these at the sales price, marked down from 183.00 was unbelievable. She did not even need them this year - we bought a size up for next year just because the savings was so great. Thanks so much!! Kim Melton
