When polar explorers trek to the North or the South Pole they subject their footwear to the most demanding conditions imaginable. Day after day they exert themselves to the point of exhaustion, pulling their equipment over the rough and unrelenting terrain. They lose as much as one pound of body weight each day in perspiration and burned calories. At night they sleep in small tents where the temperature can drop as low as -60°C (-76°F), freezing their boots. Cold feet and blisters, that might not be given a second thought in other situations, can be fatal in this environment.
While traditional molded boots are suitable for some conditions, they are not ideal for cold temperatures. In the early 90s Baffin realized that if they combined their leading molding technology with a foam-based inner boot system, they could create a new hybrid style of high performance footwear. Since then Baffin has developed new materials and combined them in new, innovative combinations. A good example is the unrivaled 8-layer combination of materials that are used in the boots that are rated for -100ºC (-148ºF).
Over the years, Baffin has created a line of industry-leading footwear that performs in extreme conditions for an ever-growing list of loyal users and activities, including snowmobiling, ice-fishing, hunting, mushing and working in industries like construction, oil, mining, forestry, and outdoor winter recreation. Because of this, Baffin has become the leader in footwear for all your cold weather needs.

My temperature rose 10 degrees as soon as I put these on! These boots are extremely warm! Not for a cool day. But if it's cold outside, these are great. Comfortable but not what you are looking for if you want a feminine looking boot...they are a little bulky. Super functional for snow or very cold weather, though. Extra lining inside. Comfy and cozy.

These are very sturdy and very warm boots. I ordered my true size which is a 7, into which I could tuck a pair of jeggings and some thin socks. I wanted to be able to tuck in regular jeans, too, so I ordered an 8. With those I could wear thick socks and if I safety-pinned my jeans to make them tighter at the ankle I could tuck them in. But even the 8's felt funny to walk in. Hard to describe the feeling. The boots squeeze your feet and they don't hurt, but I found them uncomfortable to walk in, as if I was 'up' too high and didn't have good balance. Due to bunions, I have feet like a duck, wide in the front. Maybe someone with a narrow foot would be more comfortable in them.

This is a well made serious winter boot. With Baffin, make sure you try on the liner first, then put your foot in the boot! makes a difference in the fit.

We often get feet of snow, and I needed a tall boot, but having large calves makes it hard to find a boot that will fit calf and foot! These run extremely small in the foot area, but the calf area is nice! I normally wear a 7.5 to 8 shoe, I had to order a 10 to get the foot to fit right, and have just enough room to get a warm air barrier in there. I could not wear and don't normally wear heavy socks inside boots as I get a warmer feel without socks and just some air space. We haven't had any snow this year, wouldn't you know, but they feel very warm and seem to be comfortable and sturdy. I like the removable inner sock and I think they look very nice on.

I was very excited to get these boots, however, they just don't fit well. I wanted a nice pair of snow boots to hike in, and my ankle keeps slipping out of these. They are a little bulkier than I like as well, but are the warmest of many boots I've tried on. The faux fur lining looks great, and I wish they could work for me. If you are walking around town or shoveling the driveway, I'd recommend them. However, I plan on walking several miles in them and will get the Keen Hoodoos instead. They come highly recommended if you aren't planning on hiking!
