I use them for both trail and road running. No more hips or knee issues. Love them for the comfort and fit. Best running shoes I've had. I'm on my second pair! Highly recommend. #sweapstakes

I bought a Topo MTN Racer 3, the shoe is extremely comfortable and is the perfect hiking shoe.
I was particularly impressed by Topo's customer service. Amy helped me in a straightforward manner, which is exactly how I imagine good customer service to be. I really appreciate that and can only recommend the Topo MTN Racer 3.

I'm training for 500 miles on the Camino de Santiago, and I think Ive found my shoe. The heel fits snugly (always struggle with slippage), the toes are great. I also am training in and really like the teradventure 3 (?) , but the Mtn Racer 3's keep the grit out better around the ankles and feel a bit more substantial. The only problem I have is that laces - why are they so freaking short? Goofy.

Topo is my go to for hiking and road shoes. I had the MTN Racer 2 and loved them-the MTN Racer 3 has a bit more cushioning which is great. So grippy on rocks. These felt a bit smaller than the Racer 2 but with a thinner arch insert than I usually use and after wearing twice, they feel good . I wore these on a 5 mile hike right out of the box. No break in needed with Topo. Even though not waterproof, they dry super fast.

Like they were made for my feet including my wide toe box and high arches. Plus the shoe is grippy summer and winter.

I've had some Topos in the past, like them, but have relied on Altras exclusively for trail running, and in the last couple years, the Olympus model only. The new model of the Altra Olympus 5 did not work out for me the toe box felt smaller, the heel larger, the sizing completely off, the tongue stiff and painful, and it just felt awkward with my orthotics. So in a desperate Hail Mary just weeks before my race, I bought these MTN Racers. I did a 50 mile training run straight of the box and they were like slippers. It was amazing. Less stability than what I prefer, but enough. I found myself rolling my ankle a bit, but that just reminded me to not rely on the shoe. A couple weeks later, these were my race shoes for the Orcas Island 100. I had several different shoes stashed in my drop bags but never needed to change them out. No blisters. No destroyed arches. These shoes worked great for me!

I have worn Altras for several years. This Topo brand was recommended by someone on YouTube who had also had experienced the benefits of Altras but found these to be a bit better. At this point, I agree. The zero drop is there and the wide toe box. But it feels like a more substantial shoe that may last longer than Altras. The foot bed is very good - secure and grippy. The shoe encases my foot better which also makes them feel more secure on trails. Very very comfortable.

I have spent a LOT of money on shoes.. lately Altras... These Mountain Racers fit beautifully with my orthotics and are perfectly cushioned and just slightly springy. The wide toe box is essential for me and done right with this shoe.. please don't ever change them!! I am interested to see how long they last. The instep is my favorite feature!

They are my go to shoes for walking around New York and for travel. They are fine on hotel treadmills and yes they are great trail shoes. This is my third pair of MRs and working my 10th topos. I like the firmer feel of the MR2 for technical trails, but for anything else these are great

These shoes have lots of toe box room without being overly wide. I also like how comfortable they are under my feet while still having a good sense of how the trail feels. I'm very happy I purchased them.

I've been faithful and happy with MT-4 for trail runs however my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to try the MTN Racer 3. These still have a great roomy toe box that we all expect AND the extra cushion is fantastic! I still feel the trail but it is more ... cushion-y. LOVE LOVE LOVE

Great shoe! Enough stability and cushion for a super long trail run, without feeling too stiff or heavy. Great toe box space and snug mid foot. I feel like my feet won the sweepstakes!

I had the previous version and it was a great shoe. The refinements in the version 3 are all improvements. Outsole, fit, upper quality. I hike extensively in the Eastern Sierra which was previously dominated by Altra sightings. The last two seasons I have seen many more Topo in my treks. Quality and a little heel drop seems to be why hikers I run into have changed. Ditto for me...the absolute best quality of this shoe is the outsole and the traction it provides in all conditions.

I have pretty banged-up toes and also use orthotics after a long life of beating up my feet. I tried Altras last year and they made me feel worse. After about three weeks with my Topos, I could not be happier! They accommodate my orthotics beautifully, the toe box is wide enough for comfort and health without being a trip hazard. I'm all in on Topos now--I plan to try the hikers next! #sweepstakes

I use these for most hikes in exchange for hiking boots. I had last years version and found that these were a much better improvement as the raised volume in the front of the toe box eliminated my blister problem. Wide toe box with a cupped heel make these extremely comfortable. #sweepstakes

I have had 3 pairs of the these shoes - and they are great for trail walking, dog walking and gym. The tow box is generous, which is fantastic for my wider foot. I love that I can put orthotics in them too.
Sadly, the durability of the heel cushion is not great, and I find I have to replace the shoes within 12 months. The interior heel lining degrades very quickly, exposing the foam which then quickly tears away.
I have written to Topo about this, and did not receive a reply.

I absolutely love the Ultraventures but switched to the Mountain Racers to try and reduce ankle rolls (repeated injuries). I love the lower to the ground feel but I cannot wear them for anything longer than a 50k and even that is pushing it. The cushioning on the Mountain Racers just doesn't last. I love the grip and the traction like no other. Shines over the UV's in that regard. There needs to be a Mountain Racer / Ultraventure baby/hybrid I think. I still wear both shoes but rotate depending on need.

First the good - because I liked these enough to wear them for a challenging 100. They are nice and cushioned and have great grip. I wore the Topo Terraventures for my 1st 100 and they were AMAZING, but not enough cushion for that distance, so I used these on my most recent one. And like all Topos, great toe box.
The parts I DIDN'T enjoy as much. Even tightening them up, I felt my feet slosh around. If I tighten them too much, I mostly just feel the lace cutting into me but not much more secure, so I don't feel comfortable really pushing anything technical. With that, I got blisters on the right toward the inside part of the ball of both of my feet. I've never had issues with blisters in any shoes. Also, the shoe wore down really quickly on the inside of the ankle and on the heels. Someone else posted a picture. This happened after around 200 miles, which is odd because my Terraventures lasted to around 500 miles. I likely could have pushed them further but didn't want to risk it.
All in all, a solid and comfortable shoe. Just wish it fit a little better for what should be a technical shoe. Need the cushion of these with the more secure fit of the Terraventures and these would be perfect!
