Great coat for driving the car, rain and wind and light weight and warm.

Got this in red and I'm in love with it! Purchased in the spring so I know I'll get even more use next fall and winter .

I read all these reviews and I'm still very satisfied. I'm usually between a S and M, and the medium fit me perfectly. Neither the sleeves nor torso are too tight. If I wanted to put something bulky underneath, I'd wear a different coat. This is perfect for brisk winter walks. I like the draw string waist. It makes the jacket warmer and the silhouette is not at all boxy. I have not found the wool lining to be itchy, but I don't wear light shirts underneath in the winter. I've always loved natural fabrics. They are more comfortable especially as the days get warmer. Nice job, LL Bean!

Love it! I had this same coat in 1984 and was so excited to find it again.

Had one of these in the '80s--so glad it is being issued again.

I bought this a month ago and like it. I initially wanted a lightly insulated rain jacket to wear over bulky wool winter sweaters. Finding one long enough with a two way zipper was impossible so I bought this. I am 5'7" and weigh 155. LLBean size chart and garmet dimensions said I should wear a Large but I bought an XL based on reviews and wanted it to fit over my sweaters. The reviews are accurate about the sleeves being very tight for the size of the coat and the wool lining is picky. It works for me because of bulky sweaters/turtlenecks. It would be the perfect if these two things were fixed, was waterproof, had a pocket for the hood, and a zipper with the pull on the right instead of left. It's plenty warm enough to wear in Northern Michigan on a 32 degree windy day with bulky sweaters.

This jacket was what I've been looking for! Except for the modernized fit. It used to be easy to find a lined, water resistant parka that, with the addition of a sweater or something, was comfortable from 55 degrees to 30 degrees. I thought this reissue of the Baxter State Parka was the answer, and it almost is. But the fit doesn't allow comfortable layering, the arms and shoulders are too form fitting.
When I read the reviews (after I'd purchased) I saw other people with the same complaint.
Don't modernize the fit!! Leave room for layering and it would be a winner. I returned my jacket.

Just what I wanted. It's difficult to find a cold weather coat that falls below the hip. This coat's length is perfect. The flannel lining pulls at long sleeve shirts worn as a first layer and I wish the sleeves were a bit more generous. I'm an average size women's 8. I'm limited to what layers I can wear beneath. Overall happy with this coat.

So far, I love the jacket, but regularly fight with the zipper and can't get it to come apart at the bottom. Very irritating. But the jacket is warm and perfect for mild winters.

I like this parka- it's warm, stylish, great color and fit. I wish I had looked at the care instructions, because I did not expect it to be dry clean only. Bean's other Baxter State Parka is machine washable. I don't think I would have purchased it had I realized that!

Love the color and warmth, but not the length. I want to replace an older LLB parka that's 3/4 length. This one would have it all if it extended more than half way down my thighs.

Loved the jacket for its color and style, and ordered a size up to be safe. However, the arms were too tight and the zipper was difficult. I returned it.

I purchased this jacket in hopes of having a lighter parka. I liked the color and design, but the wool insert was unacceptable. The minute I put it on it scratched and itched. I tried this a few times, but no matter what I wore beneath it, the wool seemed to penetrate. It would have been better to use flannel or fleece to provide some warmth. Unfortunately, I had to return it.

Great transition jacket. Perfect weight and keeps you warm with the wool lining. The water resistance is a great added bonus.

I normally wear a size medium but decided to get this in Large to layer, fits well even for a large (loose but not big). The jacket is great, light and thin with some wool linen. All the reviewers were correct when they said the wool is scratchy af. It feels like a dish scrub wool. Literally. The zipper is also problematic. But as long as you remember the zipper ends up the left side of the wearer, you'll know which side to exert your strength on.

I love this coat, the design and color (green and blue). The number of pockets are great and the material is nice. I'm 5'2 and ordered medium for extra room for layering. The wool lining was more itchy than I was anticipating. And for that reason I had to return it. If it wouldn't have had the wool liningI would have kept it! If wool doesn't bother you then you'll love this coat!

I still have the original jacket from the 1980's but will have to give it up soon. I recently purchased the remake and here's my findings: the style is the same with good pockets and a hood that fits nicely around the neck, but it is not very warm at all. Definitely need a warm sweater underneath. The pockets are unlined, but it is water repellent.

I returned it. The snaps and zipper are on the wrong side like it is made for men. The zipper was difficult to unzip making it frustrating to take off.
This one is not the quality of the one from the 1980s.

Didn't listen to the reviews about the zipper...jacket was so cute and my daughter really wanted it. Well, the zipper is awful, hard to zip and looks so cheap on a $200 jacket. Very disappointed as I rarely send things back. Bean...spend more on your zippers!!! The rest of the jacket was great.

Nice coat, but a little pricey. I bought this online to give as a gift and picked it up in a store. It was not reduced or on sale. When the recipient put it on she found a crumpled drug store receipt and used Kleenex in the pocket. It lost a star for that.

Loved the way this looked in the photo, but the black has a real zipper, which I didn't realize when ordering. The shoulders are snug. And the lining is so itchy. It's fine if you're wearing a sweater, but it's intolerable if wearing a cotton shirt. Returned.

Exactly what I wanted for California winter and travel. I love the green/blue colors and the overall design. HOWEVER the sizing is way off. Very narrow in the chest. I will return and order a larger size, but I am not sure even XLarge will fit my 38C chest.
