the pants are pretty extraordinary. comfort, I could sleep in them like pajamas. the material flexibility is great. feel great against the skin not scratchy or rough. I'm 5" 5" purchased the 28 and the pant dimensions are almost perfect. thigh to knee and all the way down to leg opening fit is flattering not too baggy but not skinny jean tight. my only complaint is the 28 waist. I have very low fat body %age and the waist was still a little too snug. so the problem isn't necessarily the pants but your sizing convention. I believe you need an intermediate between the 28 and 30. I tried the 30 and everything was too big or at least give the option to special order a 29.

Seems to be a good pant so far. Just wish there were inseam options.

These pants were comfortable right out of the box and seem very well made. I originally ordering my normal size ; only to find they were too big ; but the exchange process could not be easier or quicker.

The specs on these look great and I was really hoping they would work as an all-around pair of pants for work, travel (when that's a thing again), and daily use. I ordered the "Blue Grey" in both a 33 and 34 waist, but unfortunately will be returning both.
Re the fit - the 33 and 34 both fit ok in the waist and, oddly, seemed to be the same size. But the legs are pretty skinny (contrary to what was suggested by a number of reviews). I hike a lot and so I have decent thighs and calves, and these were skin tight in both areas. If you have skinnier legs and/or are looking for a tighter fit they may be perfect.
Re the color - the website shows the "Blue Grey" as a pretty straightforward grey with a maybe a touch of darker blue. They look pretty different in person - more of a blue with a touch of green. Again, might be perfect for some but didn't work for me.
Other than that, they appear to be well-made and thoughtfully designed. And I appreciate the added inseam option for us long-legged folks!

Evolution Short work for me.
From time to time one gets a piece of clothing that just fits, looks good and disappears into the background, in a good way. They're lightweight, comfortable and stain resistant.
I'm still torn if I like the laces that help the shorts fit well and the nuisance of having to tie and untie them. Would have loved to see a way to tie them on the side for the 'perfect' fit and not have to mess with it...

Can't wait to give them a real try out.

This is the second pair of Western Rise pants I have owned (AT slims being the other). The fit of the Evolutions is spot on (slim but not too slim) and the lightweight fabric of the Evolution pants is much lighter than the AT slim fabric. They are a great all-arounder for everything from work, to travel, to outdoor use. My only complaint is the size 28 waist is looser than other size 28 pants from other brands, but the waist is consistent with my size 28 AT slims. Also, I wish there was a darker khaki color offered.

Looks, functions and feels excellent. But after all, it's a pair of shorts and the price is borderline ridiculous (expensive)

Fine, comfortable shorts. I like the drawstring as an idea, but the fact that it is elastic makes much less effective than would be a mere string. I find myself routinely tightening it.

Thought the shorts would have the same pocket configuration with a two part rear zippered pocket and a phone slot in the right ght front pocket. Don't understand the functionality of the draw string. Seems to get in the way when buttoning up.

I have been wearing these shorts for a few days now and these are by far my most favorite pair of shorts. The fit is great, there is a good amount of stretch, and they are really light weight. I hope they plan to keep these in production year around and also add some colors to the line up.
My only concern with these shorts is the mesh in the pockets. There is about 2 inches of mesh at the bottom of all of the pockets, which I believe is there to help drain water when swimming? I am just worried that holes could develop from items like keys which could snag on the material. I guess I will just have to wait and see how the material holds up.
Also, I was surprised to see a draw string on the inner portion of the waist band and wasn't really sure why it was there. I eventually came to the conclusion that it is probably there because of the swim readiness of the shorts. I have just been leaving it untied and it doesn't get in the way at all.

The pants felt very nice, but where very thin. I just couldn't get over how thin they felt. Maybe with time I would just get used to them. The AT slim pants feel a bit more substantial, although not as stretchy. I suppose these would be better for warmer weather, but too thin for year round in colder areas.

Extremely comfortable and lightweight pants perfect for warm weather and it doesn't hurt that they look pretty sharp. My only complaint thus far is that they are a bit long for me. I'm about 5'8" so it would be nice if they offered a option for slightly shorter people but it's definitely not a deal breaker and would definitely purchase again

I bought a pair of these in black that I LOVED-- Made in USA, now I got a khaki pair, they are made in Vietnam? Not cool-- My main drive when buying clothing is American made-- It's fundamental to me. Feeling bait and switched... We'll see how the quality holds up, but I'm not happy about the switch to foreign manufacturing. Would not have purchased if I'de known-- Make it in the US, and charge the appropriate price for it--

I've ordered numerous pairs in different colors and sizes, thanks to the generous exchange policy. Very happy with the pant, as it's just what I wanted. Navy looks smart and casual, and comfy. Perfect for anything really. Only complaint is it's v pricy for one pair, hence four stars.

Amazing fit but wish you offered more inseam sizes like 30" so I wouldn't have to pay for alterations.

Excellent. Fit great and feel nice and slick. Really looking forward to using them in the video production world, where long productions beg for breathable pants.

Really like this pair of pants. I was looking for a light weight pant and this definitely will do better in warmer weather than other pants of mine. I was nervous of the 32in inseam as I typically wear a 30in inseam, but rolling them up looked more normal than the AT Slims rolled due to them being thicker. I would like to get the AT Slims in the future for more temperate weather, once they offer a 30in inseam.
For fit, I was pleasantly surprised. I've never purchased a "slimmer" style pant, but they fit nicely. For reference I'm roughly 5'9" at 175 lbs with an athletic build. I can be anywhere from a 32-34 in waist depending on brand and style and the 33in waist gave me a little more room through the thigh area and slightly looser fit.

Absolutely love these pants so far! They are a bit noisier than jeans when you walk, but not unbearably loud like some light-weight pants can be. The only thing is I wish they came in odd sizes; 30 is slightly too big, 28 is slightly too small..

Lovely pair of pants - lightweight, comfortable, would be great for travelling. Only off thing was the colour description. Not sure how to describe this colour.

I have loved my Evolution Pants. The material is amazing, they look great, and I have even chosen them over sweatpants in quarantine. My only challenge is the lack of inseam lengths. I am 5'7" and the 32" inseam is far too long for me. For now I am rolling them up but I'll be taking them to the tailors when they open back up.

THE FABRIC is really interesting. It really does SHED WATER as advertised. I hiked in the rain for two hours. Bone dry inside. The fabric DRIES FAST, BREATHES WELL, PACKS SMALL and is EXTREMELY LIGHTWEIGHT. HOWEVER... my rain jacket did not cover the bottom part of the crotch area leaving the bottom of the zipper exposed. WATER FREELY LEAKED IN THROUGH THE ZIPPER AREA and soaked my underwear. So that's a flaw for a pair of pants whose biggest advantage (in my opinion) is that they can be worn in the rain. I'll have to work around that somehow.
COMFORT AND FIT is also GOOD. Not perfect but very good. I enjoy wearing these pants. HOWEVER, I had to have the WAIST TAKEN IN AND THE LEGS HEMMED UP a bit. Usually I can wear 30/32 right off he rack. These were too loose and too long and the next size under was too small. Oh well.
STRETCH IS EXAGGERATED. The pants do have some ability to stretch but I think it is greatly overstated that these are the most comfortable and stretchy pants for travel. I would say they are sufficiently comfortable and stretchy, so I will wear them. But if I want TRULY comfortable stretchy pants, I would choose a different brand.
THEY LOOK GREAT. After getting them altered, I would say they look and fit really well and I can wear them on the trail or to a restaurant. They lean more toward "going out" pants as opposed to "hiking pants" as far as style goes.
NO REGRETS, I RECOMMEND THEM. All of that said, I got these pants for travel especially when there is risk of rain. I have no other pair of travel pants that resist rain like these do. And I don't like the idea of putting rain shell pants on over hiking pants if I can avoid it. Especially if I am walking around a city and going to museums and restaurants as opposed to trails. So I would definitely BUY THESE PANTS again and I look forward to traveling with them someday (still in lockdown).
