I bought the next size up from my regular shoe size after trying both. The shoe fit great and very comfortable.

My foot felt great after a 15-mile backpack that included some running. Plenty wide for my foot. Great grip, too. I measure an 8 1/2. I bought a 9 1/2 (as always I do.) With the nifty laces done up right, these fit perfect. I switched from Altra Lone Peak 4's, which are wide and I know are the PCT shoe of choice, but I found they inflamed my plantar fasciitis and found them to be crap for grip. I think the one size up would be good even on long stupid steep descents that have blackened nails in other shoes. I wish the grey had been available. Otherwise, these are great for me. r

I have the speedcross wide and it is extremely tight. It is too bad that they do not make a double wide. Because the "wide" is not wide in the least. I can only wear them for a few hours.

Well, I've done two local orienteering meets and here are my updated observations: 1. Shoe still feels a little snug. Doesn't appear to be an EE, more like a E.5! Have to wear a thinner sock, whereby I lose some cushioning. 2. Based on stream crossings, it appears to be somewhat water "repellent." 3. Outsole (lugs) grip well on soft soil and even rocky surfaces. 4. Bottom line: A good orienteering and off-trail shoe - not perfect!

I was lucky enough to trial this shoe in Annecy over varied terrain in wet weather. Straight out of the box the shoe fits well, with a very accommodating fit without feeling loose. The material in the toe box is extremely flexible but remains protective against roots and rocks. As you would expect from the speedcross the sole is super protective and grips in all conditions; I took these on clay, grass, mud, sand, smooth rock, and shingle all in wet conditions and with varying accents and descents and it outperformed any other shoe I have worn! As someone with neutral feelings on the speedcross 5, I would wholeheartedly recommend the 6 for short to mid distance off road runs where grip on difficult/technical terrain is a priority. I normally go up half a size in Salomon shoes and I would say this shoe is no different; although the accommodating toe box may see some runners sticking true to normal size. Fantastic shoe, and a notable improvement over the 5; Excited to see where Salomon could go from here!

Love almost everything about these. Light, flexible, protective, awesome grip. However, I'm not sure how long the grip will be awesome, given the rate at which the lugs are wearing down. The center heel lug has started to come apart after maybe 30 miles, and the others don't look too far behind. Maybe this is a defective pair, bud I'm guessing they went with a softer compound for the outsole. Will have to see how this pair plays out, and if necessary, I'll have to begrudgingly find a replacement shoe.

Supposed to be wide…had wide tag on them. They were super narrow. Weird

Bought Brooks wide which were very wide

I am a big fan of the Speedcross 5, so I tried the Speedcross 6 with mixed results. It is a very sturdy shoe with good overall foot protection, comfort, traction, and it fits well. However, I dont like the aesthetic, it's not as attractive as the 5. The material is a bit thin and gets dirty very quickly. It also is a bit heavy and clunky. I think I'll stick to the 5 from now on.

Started off with the speedcross 2 and was pleased with the product. I put a lot of miles on my shoes and had to replace them due to the stitching. The product gradually improved to the point of I didn't have to replace after I bought the 5s. The 6 is even better than the 5s. I love the comfort and durability of these, so far. Would highly recommend. Will be purchasing another pair shortly.

I didn't think the Speedcross 5 could be outdone. Well, they did. If you don't own a pair, rectify your ignorance.

These Salomon Speedcross 6 trail runners (12 Wide) are built very well. A super combination of flexibility, stability, and design. Light as a feather. I want to wear them every day but will save them for the trail. I can only wear wide now, so they were an awesome find on Zappos.com.
I'd also recommend:
Hoka, Brooks, Saucony

I havent run in a Speedcross in a long time, and these are sick! They are lighter and feel more dynamic. I was a Speedcross 3 fan, and am back wearing Speedcross. Light and fast with the best grip. They look cool too, I like the modern styling. I'm surprised the fit is improved too. I can wear these on the trails but also around town too. They stand out in a lot of way!

I bought this in wide and even in wide the shoes were extremely narrow. I imagine the non-wide version would be 2-dimensional. It also had a very hard sole and felt like I was running in football cleats.

The styling with enlarged white printed white Salomon label is a little overwhelming The shoe is simply too wide for someone who has always worn a medium fit in speed cross 5 therefore no longer comfortable or supportive

FYI - the item description is wrong... these shoes do NOT have Gore-Tex (which is what I wanted). Fit great for me as a frequent wearer of Salomon trail running shoes. Last pair was Salamon Sense Pro.
