These shoes have been so amazing for hiking the Appalachian trail. They're lightweight, provide ankle support, and have a good amount of room in the toe box to let my toes spread naturally. I plan on getting another pair to finish up the AT.

I didn't think it was possible to love an updated version of the Trailventure even more, but they managed to make it even better. A little bit more cushion goes such a long way. I use these for backpacking and some trail running. Randomly, I'd had an issue with the very 1st (or last) eyelet hurting my foot, but that was because of my foot not the shoe. The new version doesn't have the eyelet there, and for me makes a huge difference (it was rubbing on the top of my bony foot). Thanks TOPO!

I wear my black and mint Trailventure 2s walking with my dog on streets, trails and the beach. They are very comfortable with a roomy toe box. What's special about them is they also have a standard feet in the heel and mid-area of my foot keeping it securely in place and not sliding around. I have bunions and corns and these do not bother those issues at all. My only complaint is the the right boot presses down on the top of my foot where there is a seam. The left boot does not do it. I'm going to look for something that will stretch it out a bit and see if that helps. Otherwise, I would give it 5 stars. Very possible this is only a defect in the boots I received and not the norm.

450 miles on Appalachian Trail & I developed post. tibial tendonitis & Baxters neuropathy.I wanted to replace my usual trailrunners with more ankle support & these are one of the few shoes that offer ankle support without going to a boot! It has GREAT grippy soles and durable outers that have shown little wear. This shoe is a bit bulky in its fit, & I'd like better color options.
#1 Complaint: The laces won't stay laced even double-knotted. My other Topos don't have this problem. I love Topos!!

Interesting how a shoe can be designed to to allow toes to splay yet be so snug at the toe knuckle bones!
It truly needs to flare out at that point, as nobody's toes, flare out at the tips- certainly no further than those bones. ( that is where the width of the foot is measured by podiatrists)

Toe box is almost too roomy. Very comfortable but a bit squishy for sierra type hiking. Real downside is the shoelaces. Even with elaborate knots they will not stay secure and become loose while walking jeopardizing stability completely.

The shoe especially the ankle / tongue were distractingly bulky. they looked alittle like clown shoes on my foot.

Poor SupportGreat Support
This shoe is wonderful for supporting my slender ankles in place. It does not have the waterproof sock that always ends up irritating where it folds. Unfortunately, there is one fatal flaw to the shoe. The eyelets protrude downward, especially the ones closest to the toes. They are the size of pebbles sticking into the top of the foot. I have no idea why any company would design a shoe with irritating protrusions of the eyelet and lace pointing downward towards the top of the foot. The front toe area is very wide for my slender foot. However, the ankle grip is so good that it would not have mattered.
I hope in a future shoe they fix this deal breaking issue. I had read it in other reviews, and the other customers were right. :(

I wanted to love these and couldn't wait to try them. But I had to return them immediately because they squish down on my big toe. While the toe box is wide, it is NOT high. So be forewarned, if you need a high toe box, these probably won't fit the bill. Other than that, they are beautifully made and I'm sure I would have loved them.

I first want to say I LOVE my trailventure lows and love the brand. They are by far my favorite hiking SHOES ever. However; I did over 50 miles backpacking in the BOOTS and they were honestly the worst backpacking boots I have ever owned. The only way to get even minimal ankle support was to tie them so tight that they bruised my feet. Blisters too. I think these are probably fine for day hiking; but add that weight and some rocky terrain and these fail to provide proper support. I was unable to "trust the boots" to do their job.
