I have hard to fit feet. High arches and mortons toe. Salomon works well and no need for inserts. I ordered a half size up from the Salomon walking shoes I have and I am glad I did. No toe smush going downhill. I hike with my dog 3-4 times a week, 2-4 miles, we prefer a rougher trail - they are reliably waterproof through mud and small stream crossings. Also good support for my ankle which I sprained badly a month ago.

Not for me because the heel slips. The quality is good & I was sad to returned them.

Just finished hiking in Arizona for a week in these boots. Love them! Light weight and grippy for rocky terrain. Very comfortable. I had done a lot of research before buying these boots. Very pleased with their performance.

Super light. Super comfy right outta the box. Wore em all day because if they’re gonna hurt better to know now rather than five miles into a hike. I think, at long last, I have finally found hiking shoes that will work!! I put my arch supports in them too. Plenty of room.

I bought these for a trekking trip to the Dolomites. The boots were great right out of the box and after 60 miles in the Dolomites my feet felt great, no blisters, and the boots weathered all of the terrain well!

This is an out-of-the-box review, no hiking yet: Very comfortable. No noticeable rubbing or slipping. The ankle is not tight fitting but can be made tighter or looser which I like... some days my ankles prefer one or the other. I'm an older person and an inexperienced hiker wanting to do moderate hikes. Fingers crossed.

Comfortable, nice support! Perfect for running off road. Yes I tested and they repel water. Wonderful buy. I’m so glad I bought these. I usually wear merrel or sorrel for my waterproof hiking boots. First time buying this brand. They are my style. I’m a dog runner. These are great! Nice ankle support.

I have a bigger foot and am always worried that the 12 will be too tight, but not these. I just hiked throughout southern Montana and my feet were comfortable and supported. Really cannot wrote enough positivity for these shoes.

I love the shoes, but it seems that the right shoe is not Seated correctly. The right shoe makes some noise with each step

I wanted to love these boots. The look small - like sneakers - not clunky at all. Much nicer in person than the photos, in fact. And the insoles were so cushy and soft, yet arch support was sufficient to keep my flat feet from overpronation. They were also so much lighter than any hiking boots I've worn before. The ankles, however, somehow hit me in the wrong place. I've always worn hiking boots that come up around my ankles and I have lots of other ankle boots too, so this really surprised me. They are soft and well-cushioned so I'm really not sure what was wrong but I couldn't get used to them. They seemed as light as my summer weight trail runners, a plus for casual hiking. I'm generally out with, at most, a light backpack, mirrorless camera, maybe an extra lens & carbon fiber tripod, on well groomed trails, so I can't really judge how they'd be for real expedition hiking, although I think the light weight might make it easier to keep going for miles. I prefer hiking boots that cover my ankles even for a more relaxed stroll in the woods, since I live in an area where deer ticks are prevalent, and these seemed like they'd be comfortable in even warm weather. The blue color was beautiful. It matched nicely with the pair of faded jeans i was wearing. Hence, five starts for style (they are really cute for hiking boots and made my feet look tiny) and four stars for comfort /overall...not sure why the ankles bothered me, but hopefully they won't bother you. I'd still recommend them.
I'd also recommend:
boots: Merrell, Ariat, Frye

I wanted to love these for a trip to Alaska. Comfortable, too wide for me, not too stiff but the tongue just didn't want to tuck in without sticking into the spot above my ankle. Walked around the house and just couldn't ignore the slight pressure. Still in search of the perfect comfort hiker.

I just received these and was surprised at the low support they offered. Maybe it was because they ran so big? I’m usually a size 7.5 but these felt at least a half size too big. I do have a narrower foot but my foot was swallowed in these. Unfortunately, I’ll be returning them and trying another pair.

Bought a month ago, wasn't sure I was going to like them out of the box. Took them on their first wet hike. Tread was great, they were light and my feet stayed dry but sadly I feel like these hikers really lacked the support. My feet are far more tired and ankles took more of the work than I usually have with my other hikers. I tried on the Ultra X and Quest but neither fit as well as I had hoped. I only wear Salomon for trail running and am super happy with them. Won't be using these for hiking anywhere.

I used these boots last year and walked over 550 miles on the Camino de Santiago, (French Way). They held up nicely and were comfortable, but they are not waterproof! I walked through a meadow in the morning dew, and my socks got soaked within 5 minutes! Also got caught in heavy rain, and my socks got wet too!

I want to love these boots. Well, actually I do love these boots- despite not being in a colour I'd choose, they were a replacement for Salomon footwear that wore out long before warranty. So I really needed these. Unfortunately, I ordered them at the end of Nov 2022, and now in mid-Feb 2023 they are leaking. I walked through one puddle today with gaiters on, and realized that the boots have cracked at the toe box, compromising the GTX, so my toes got wet. This is despite the fact that I have only worn them for walking my dog on essentially flat ground- no hikes, no elevation, nothing steep that should wear out that part of the boot. I'm so disappointed, as Salomon has a good reputation and these boots are really comfortable and needed no breaking in. But this is the 2nd time a pair of Salomon footwear has broken down long before I'd expected, and I'm just super disappointed. I don't really want to go through another warranty claim- after all, what is the point if the next pair of boots wears out again so soon? 8'(

These are my absolute favorite hiking shoes ever. They fit perfectly, are lightweight, and have great grip. Unfortunately they have the worst manufacturing and assembly. After the first pair I bought busted holes in the top, I thought it was a one-off thing. But after buying two more pairs and having the same thing occur, I am really disappointed. There are huge holes that form after just a few months of wearing them. This is from a couple backpacking trips and local hiking, not a thru trail or anything. You can tell that Salomon went really cheap and dirty with the manufacturing and it sucks.

Off the bat pluses for these boots are that they are stylish and comfortable. If you need a good pair of sneakers that look like hiking boots, these will be perfect. But don't expect much from them beyond that. I've been a huge Salomon fan for years, and have owned and happily worn through many of your hiking boots. As a low-impact, daily hiker living in the Northeast, this pair of boots is regrettably the worst I've ever owned. The boots hold mud and grass/leaf debris for days, and it needs to manually be picked/washed off (never a problem in the past). I bought these boots in August, and I've worn them daily for a 3-4 mile hike through mostly farmland/dewy grass and woods. Water never breached over the top of the boots, but the inside already smells terrible, and in the past week a 3-mile grassy/dewy hike is leaving me with wet socks b/c water is permeating the Gore-Tex. Overall, I'm really disappointed, as Salomon is a brand I've come to trust for sturdiness and longevity.

The sole is too thin to enjoy on any semblance of a long and/or rugged hike and I can't stand the tongue in this shoe. No matter how you lace it up, no matter the amount of double knots, it still sticks out. This creates a huge gap for rain to trickle down and soak your feet. Would have liked to return them, but my dog ate the plastic tips at the end of the laces. So I'm stuck with them. My Keens are vastly superior. The two stars is for the look of them and for the comfort if you wear them to run errands.

definitely comfortable, horrible grip & mostly waterproof. There is one part on the shoe that feels it is not very waterproof & a little moisture came through the shoe but the grip is the biggest concern. These shoes are not sustainable for true hiking on rugged terrain. They have to soft of a grip, the treads are too giving & as a result they did not provide safe footing on many of the trails we were on this summer. Unfortunately these shoes are not what we expected and a replacement shoe had to be purchased for our own safety on the trails just 3 weeks after purchasing these .

I'm so disappointed in these shoes after being a longtime user of Salomon hiking shoes. They are boxy, uncomfortable, lack support, and water soaks through with light rain. I thought maybe new insoles would help with overall comfort - they didn't. I wish I returned them when I could. Unfortunately not worth the price point :(

SO uncomfortable - could not ever wear them again! SOmething in the lip part of the shoe is poorly constructed and digs into your skin.
