I took these shoes as my primary shoe to do many miles of walking when touring Belgium great for sprinting between connecting flights, lightweight shoe, and comfortable for all day wear.

Love these shoes. They are light weight but give good support. I was a little concerned that there was not a removable insole as I use custom orthotics. They fit in these shoes very well and did not crowd my toes. In fact, the soft knit uppers are even comfortable on my hammer toes. They are great for walking and around town. They look really nice too. Merrill is me go to shoe and when I am need of something new, they are the first place I look. Thanks for keeping my feet happy.

This shoe doesn't have a tongue like a traditional sneaker. The upper of the shoe is like a sleeve made of stretchy material that hugs your foot. The laces pull on straps that are sewn into the side of the shoe, enabling a very tight feel when you pull the laces taut.
Be aware that the insole of this shoe doesn't come out. This means if you have custom orthotics they'll need to rest on stop of the built-in insole, and your foot will ride higher in the shoe than normal, making the shoe feel very tight. For me this caused discomfort on the tops of my feet. But this is of course a unique personal problem. Overall the shoe should work well for most people.

Light weight, comfortable, and flexible. These are the lightest Merrell's I have. I can wear them all day and my feet don't hurt. They are also pretty stylish and I've received a few compliments on them. I purchased them a half size smaller than my other Merrell's as recommended and I'm not sure I'd do it again. It forced me to wear socks that are thinner than most of my socks. Other than that, they are great!

Solid shoe. Used on a couple of long hikes and 14ers and held up well. The grip is great. Looks fantastic without sacrificing style. I'll say, I haven't had it for too long so I can't speak to its durability yet.

The design of these shoes is what initially caught my attention - I love that they look like a futuristic street shoe while still maintaining their hiking DNA, beautifully balancing these two aspects. The shoes inherently speak to the outdoorsy identity of the wearer, and I love that about them.
I think the elephant in the room with these is how NMD-like they look; I will say though that Adidas shoes haven't been feeling as good on foot as they used to, and these feel GREAT. I also think that Merrell differentiated the design enough so that they still carry a satisfying and original creative identity of their own, even if based on a new standard silhouette established by Adidas.
Speaking to the comfort of these: they hold a nice light bounciness, similar to other shoes in their genre, but also pack the additional grip and stability of a hiking shoe. Really impressed by Merrell for following through with the functionality, and not just leaving it at an aesthetic. Sizing wise, my typical size is 11.5 and these fit perfectly.
Having established that I love these shoes, and they were exactly what I was hoping for, I do have one prominent negative to mention. When tightening the shoes, the material beneath the laces folds in on itself, creating a pretty significant fold in the material. This both distracts from the look of the shoes, as well as creates pressure against the top of your foot. Maybe I am using the shoes completely wrong, but for me leaving the laces untightened does not work. I assume that over time this fold will become less bulky, and it doesn't bother me enough now to return these. I would suggest that if Merrell creates an update of this shoe that they work on swapping in some material between the laces that collapses in on itself better.
Very much recommend these shoes. Really well-executed hybrid shoe at a great price.

I originally ordered the Black in the wide, ended up exchanging for the Olive in normal width. These are super comfortable shoes, they are lightweight and require zero break-in. Have been wearing Hoka or New Balance (wide widths) in the past, the Merrell Embark is now my go to shoe for walking, hiking or just casual wearing around. They are so lightweight you forget you are wearing shoes.

I took my new pair on a vacation trip and used them for the first time doing light hikes in the Rocky Mountains. They fit so well to my feet that there was no "break-in" needed. Great pair of lightweight yet sturdy casual hikers for me!

I needed a new pair of shoes that would help me withstand being on my feet for 15+ hours a day while running a national sport event. These shoes didn't disappoint. They gave me the support and comfort I needed and made the long days on my feet bareable! Best Purchase! You can bet I will be purchasing these again!

I purchased these shoes about a month ago. I spent a week breaking them in, which they didn't really need, as they were super comfortable right out of the box. Then I went on a 2 week trip to Italy and walked/hiked about 120 miles. My feet never hurt, no blisters, no hot spots. I just bought a second pair tonight.

Bought these shoes to wear on my trip to Portugal. I spent no time breaking them in and immediately started walking about 10 miles a day in them with no discomfort. In fact they are so comfy and light they've quickly become the only shoe I want to wear.

Fit was as expected. I have wide feet. Although they are a normal width size, they should be fine for someone looking for a wider shoe. Sole is sturdy and upper is a relaxed stretchy fabric material.

I bought 2 pairs. The first pair I couldn't get my wrap-covered foot into so I returned it. The tongue was secured to the base of the shoe by an elastic piece on each side.
I replaced that pair with a pair of Moab Speed 2's. Not as easy to put on as my old Moab 3's but I prefer the color (Khaki).

Very light and comfortable. The only problem is that they are a bit difficult to get on because of the way they are constructed without a tongue.
