I have a very narrow foot and because many of the reviews said that the boot seemed narrow I decided to give it a try.....it did not work for me. The quality of the boot is great, it just doesn't suit my needs.

My husband has worn these for years for long work days. This last pair despite being wide (EE) are no longer wide enough for his feet. Not considering width they would be a 5 but with the width issue he is looking for a new favorite boot!

I ordered for my husband because the boot came in wide and looked nice for the price. They were not wide at all and he could barely get them on. Needless to say I returned them. The sliding rating of somewhat wide is not correct - couldn't fix it. Will look again when we are in Freeport and can try on.

I like these boots but I'm glad I ordered them in a wider size than I normally would. My normal "D" width would have been too narrow. I also found that they needed more "breaking in" than I am used to. I am using them daily and enjoy them.

I will be returning the boots. The color looks nothing like the picture on line. I don't like the color of the actual boots. The size is perfect. Too bad I don't like the color. I've had this style boot before and was looking forward to them. Oh well.

This snow shoe fit the sole of my foot perfectly. I wear a size 7 and ordered up one half size. The problem is that there is not enough material across the top of the shoe to pull the zipper closed. I will be returning these boots.

The boots will get soaked through just by walking through wet grass. I think a minimum for calling a product water resistant or weatherproof is that it can stand up to morning dew. I don't even think I'm the only review on here to point this out.

Nice boots, but way too narrow even in wide width. The model they replaced fit perfectly but these are too small. Disappointing as I love the originals.

I bought this boot for the second time in April after having a great experience with them the first time until I wore that pair out hiking. I broke them out for our Fall hikes and was very disappointed in the fit! The EE width on these new boots is too narrow! They are too tight in the toe area unlike my previous pair.

If being waterproof is part of your decision to buy these boots, look elsewhere. From day 1 walking in heavy do was about like walking with open toed sandals. My socks were soaking wet after 100 yards. Other than that, the boots ar ok. I just wish they weren't advertised as waterproof, when obviously they fail in that regard.

Bought these to replace a prior LLBean pair from 2007. See that review since I cannot edit it. Extremely disappointed in these boots. While structurally they are holding up, they are heavier. And after a pathetically short amount of time, I go in a post-rain hike with the pup and my feet come back soaking wet. The boots took two days to dry out just from walking trail puddles. Compare that to my 2007 pair which has had the tread sole reglued 3x now and are so worn that under the toe is almost smooth but yet they are still 100% waterproof. The clear fall off in quality is hard to ignorea dn now, not even two years in, I have to look for new boots versus continuing to break in an enjoy what should have been a long lasting pair.

has issues - matls, in 6mo of intermittent use: mesh fabric has frayed, getting "fuzzy" in spots (flexion, abrasion..?), inner liner has worn thru at the heal and seam above - construction: the toe box barely has room for a dress sock while the heal box has room for heavy wool sock (fat => wide: T, wide => fat: F), there are lumps in the footbed on both sides where the toe guard matl rolls under that may cause discomfort - not waterproof, proof: 1hr hike in warm snow

I ordered this for my husband in his regular size which was 8 to 8 1/2 & he said it was too short & footbed hard.

This is my third purchase in two years of Trail Model 4 shoes. The previous two have been 10.5 EE and the fit has been wonderful. Suddenly this time the same size is painfully narrow. Did the factory in Asia stick the EE label onto a run of D width shoes? It feels like it. I'm deeply disappointed, as I need shoes and have wide feet.

Boots fail on comfort level on hikes over 4 or 5 miles. Could use additional cushioning.

Left shoe fit great, Right shoe was another story. Put weights on it, bought a shoe stretcher and would leave it in for weeks at a time, took it to a shoe repair shop to be stretched and nothing work other than developing a bunion on my small toe
I'd also recommend:
Rockport, Nike

Owned two prior generations of these LLBean boots. Took heed of the reviews and went for the wide option, but unfortunately, the toe box was still extremely undersized. Returned them and looking at different brands.

These are not the same as the ones they replaced. I love my original ones and was told these would be exactly the same, they're not. There are superficial design changes which are fine but the fit is very different. They are narrower and the tops press into the back of my legs as I walk. I would send them back but I wore them twice hoping they would be better the second time. I would use orthopedics to raise my heels but they're too small. They're from the same country of origin but must have different manufacturers.

Constrution quality is great, but the lacing system makes it very difficult to loosen to take boots off. A real pain ! Tried in home, and shall return.

I had a pair of LL Bean Hikers for years over 10 years. No lie put over a thousand miles on them still have them, soles are falling off, hence I purchased a pair or these Trail Model Hiker 4 Waterproof Mid Men's. They do not even come close to the quality of what I had. I am seriously thinking of returning. I have a size 12 tried on a size 12 did not fit tried a size 13 to big tried a size 12 wide fit was ok but tight in width thought they would break in after a few good hikes, no they are still tight. LL Bean has let me down for the first time. Why does this happen?

I was looking for a lightweight summer hiking shoe, Fit good, mostly comfortable, but have worn them about 3 weeks now the first week of walking in wet grass they kept my feet dry but now just walking in morning dew my feet are soaked! Not good. Not worth the price to have soaked feet! After I finish my hike/walk have to leave them out to dry. Also in picture they appear black but closer to being blue.
