this is a great everyday backpack. the laptop sleeve is really handy, plenty of space for a small backpack so i can just about carry everything i'll need on any given day. very comfortable, & the straps feel super secure & durable. i like that the dual water bottle pockets can fit even my large 32oz insulated bottle; unsure how long the elastic tie-downs will wear over time, but for now they're great.
my only gripe is the organization. i wish there was just one more pocket to put things in, as the main pocket is so big that things can get lost inside, & the other pockets are too small, so i end up just throwing everything into the main pocket. also, would be very nice for an extra pocket to be towards the bottom of the bag for better center of gravity.
overall, this is my favorite daily backpack i've used, & i've gone through a lot of backpacks. good space, decent organization, space for water bottles, tons of options for getting the right fit & strapping things to the outside

Purchased for my son for college this fall. He loves it and has already started using it. His laptop fits perfectly and is protected with plenty of room for other things. Our daughter had a Northface backpack in college and she still uses it. They last forever.

I got this backpack three years ago and I used it every day for school and I really liked it I think a typed up for a good reason I think it's worth the money and it's so good that my mom even got a matching one because she really liked it it's got padding on one of the compartments for like a computer which is really good and it's very comfortable I highly recommend this backpack

Used this backpack only for a couple of months before the embroidery started unraveling. Even if I cut it, it keeps unraveling. Reached out with warranty claim but haven't heard back yet.:(

This is my third borealis I've had a couple years currently I use this one I have for work and it's an awesome day pack. It's blue. I love the material and it gets me to point a to point B. I love the leather bottom adjustable straps and the side cupholders seems very durable compared to the previous models. As far as it is standing up that's a game changer for me but the way you fix it is stretch the bag out. It will stand up on its own when it's filled so if you're looking for a workhorse backpack, check out the borealis plan on buying another one all the best. Have a great summer.

I own a Borealis for about 6 years now. Photo shoots, library visits, overnight stays, road trips...the bag's size and construction are not the problems. It's not meant to use on the PCT. What sucks is you have to lean the bag against something or it lays on the dusty or muddy ground. Maybe the bag has been redesigned, I do not know. But you should INSURE this bag does not have to be propped up against something to stand up. Huge miss by Northface.

This backpack was purchased specifically to transport my computer and water bottle on business trips. It failed in one of the two main objectives, not due to normal wear and tear or abuse, but rather due to poor design which they will not own up to. The thin mesh pocket (which they no longer offer on this same backpack for obvious reasons) failed to hold up under normal use. I am sure mine isn't the only one they rejected for warranty repair. I recommend purchasing a less expensive backpack elsewhere, at least when it fails you didn't spend a young fortune on it and wouldn't feel as bad not having over payed for an under performing product. The lifetime warranty is a joke, their solution was to offer a discount to get me to buy more products that have a history to failure which is not a motivation for me to buy any more gear from NorthFace.

I bought the Borealis for both of my boys when they were HS Freshman. My oldest just finished his Sophmore year of college and is still using his. But, I just had to buy my youngest a new one and he's only a HS Junior. So I'm not sure if the quality has dropped or if my youngest is just harder on bags. The crazy part is my oldest played football so I would think his would have had more abuse. They both traveled public transportation across the city. Either way I feel they held up pretty well considering the daily use and abuse.

Bought this backpack back in 2020 for college, it has survived all type of activities like school, work, travel, hiking, camping, it still feels like new and hasn't tear down. Great quality and overall build!

Material is not good. Its too thin. Seems like if i want to stick a pin it will just damage too much. Not like the other north face backpacks

This backpack is great. I appreciate all the compartments it has, especially the quick access at the front of the bag. I recently switched to a thinner reusable water bottle and I feel that it is too small for the side pockets. I also don't think it stands up the best which is why I give it a 4/5. Everything else is great, it looks great, fits everything as I am a medical student working long hours.

it's good but has one flaw which is the 2nd front pocket, it should be deep enough so that if it gets filled the bag doesn't look awkward. the thing is if you fill this bag with all your stuff it looks weirdly bloated from the top, since the top section has more space due to the front pockets. another con is that the bag cannot stand on its own whether it's empty or filled. it's just annoying. otherwise the bag is perfect to fit, light gym clothing+ shoes, tiffin, laptop, notebook and minor stuff in front pocket. ideal for school and commute, I like the side pockets too. and this colour looks nice.
