In one part of my life, I wear Danner work boots. In another part, I am venturing back into working in a hospital. I needed shoes for the hospital. I tried Nurse Mates Align Dorin and then Sketchers Go Walk Arch Fit 124404. Both would have worked great for some, but the soles were just too "soft" for me. I need more stability, along with comfort and cushioning. I was checking Zappos for another option, wearing my work boots, and thinking "why can't Danner make a black tennis shoe I could try?" Well, they do! The Danner Trail 2650 Mesh, while much more expensive, completely fits the bill. I did have to return my normal 7.5 for an 8, so I think they run a bit small. Excellent support, great non-slip, not too hot, and as low-profile as a solid black lace-up tennis shoe can get. Thank you Zappos for your fast shipping and convenient free return policy. I rarely shop elsewhere for shoes.

Tight in width, a little short in length. Too bad cause I like the style. Hopefully I can exchange for a wider version.

I don't get it. This is my second pair of Danner Trail 2650 in size 7. The first pair fits perfectly and are super comfortable. I can walk forever in them. The second pair feels considerably smaller. The shoelaces are shorter and I can't get them through the last hole and still tie them. I need a shoehorn to get them on. I begin to feel uncomfortable in them after only a few blocks. I bought the black pair hoping they'd be a little dressier for travel. I'm not prepared to return them. I'm still hoping they'll stretch out a little bit just by walking in them. But if they don't, I won't be bothering to bring this pair to Europe.

This felt so good on the soles of my feet and then I tried walking - Ouch! The top of the shoe rubbed along my ankle bone. I guess I just have weird feet! I wish this shoe would have worked for me as I am trying to find a shoe that will give me good traction on the trail. I have a pair of Oboz hiking shoes and they feel so heavy on my feet. I like the comfort of the sole of the Danner shoe though!

I own Danner hiking boots and I love them. The Danner Trail 2650 Mesh missed the mark. I am a solid 8, Medium width in my shoes, have been for years. The size 8 were uncomfortable with a tight fit. When I tried them on with my regular hiking socks, I couldn't get my foot into the shoe. I loosened the laces up as much as possible but to no avail. Still too tight and barely enough shoelace to tie a knot. I also tried them with the thinnest socks I had for comparison, but again they were still too tight. I also tried an 8.5 due to the other reviews I read about the fit. The 8.5 was slightly better in the width, but my heel slipped out while walking around the house. Same issue with the laces. Loosening them sort of helped with the fit, but left little to tie. Pros: I loved the color and the "squishiness" of the insole. Cons: They are very narrow and felt small overall.

I do a lot of hiking and prefer the feel and fit of a trail shoe as opposed to a hiking boot. I wear a size 8.5 in most street shoes/sandals but have found over the years that I generally need a 9.5 in a trail shoe or hiking boot. However, with this shoe I found that the size 10 gave me the best fit (the shoe seems a bit narrow over the arch) - particularly room in the toe box. That said, the shoe has nice support and stability.

I like the shoes for comfort on the bottom of the foot. My problem is with the stitching construction. On the left foot the stitching is just thick enough to cause terrible running on my foot bone. I've worn them several weeks now and they really haven't "broken in" in that spot. I just have to be careful not to tie the shoe too tight if I'm wearing thinner socks or wear thicker socks that provide more protection in that spot. I have narrow feet and the shoe while a little wide isn't too wide for my foot. It moves around a little, but for just walking around on flatter trails or roads they're fine.

So I really like the shoes, the sole is comfortable and cushy. My problem comes from the seam on the left shoe where the top of the shoe meets the side of the shoe. The sewn seam is just slightly rougher/ more pronounced than the right shoe and it rubs bad. I thought it was just needing to break in, but it happens each time I wear the shoe. It's not super bulky, but it's just how it was stitched and it's hard. It usually goes away or I guess I get used to it after walking for a bit. It's too late to return them, as I've worn them several times. Recommend if you're going to get them that you walk around a good bit inside to make sure no seams are harder than any other.

Vertical stiff. Hard to get on and off. It is supportive, but so stiff. It will take weeks to soften up. Not wearing the shoe.

I have the 2650 Mid GTX boot that are my favorite - I bought these shoes as a light trail / running shoes alternative for hiking while traveling abroad and theyre great. Im so glad they have them in all black so they can slightly disguise as normal running shoes when traveling in stylish countries and dont stick out like a hiking boot sore thumb. Im planning to use them to hike the Corfu trail in Greece for 2 weeks and knowing I already love the full hiking boot version of this shoe, they will work perfectly. Wide toe box, perfect structured shape for high arches but still bounce and forgiving. Good grip but light for a trail run. 10/10. They do take some time to break in.

I have the ones with the gray sole-I love that shoe and was hoping for another pair just like them! The all black shoe reminds me of old ladies shoes and seeing I am getting up their age, I want no part of them! However, I love the shoes I have of yours!

There is stitching on the inside where the tongue meets the shoe, and its balled up and protrudes into my inner foot bone. I have to adjust the way I tie them, use mole skin, or sit my foot in there uncomfortably to the point that wearing them is a debate. Having it fixed could take weeks from what Ive read, so Im just dealing with it, which is unfortunate. Pretty narrow, Id say they should be used more casually, rather than actively on the trail.
