The new Dropline mid is an exceptional lightweight hiking boot. I needed a new boot just days before a 35 mile backpacking trip, and the Dropline was very comfortable, and needed no breaking in. It is very breathable, and provides great ankle support. I did another trip with a lot of rock formations to cross, and the sole gripped the rock very well. This is my new favorite boot. In my experience Salewas run just a tad small, more like a 1/4 size small than a 1/2 size, though. I am usually a 10 1/2 but got the 11 1/2 and it was perfect. I also have a narrower foot and the Dropline fit great. (I can’t comment on the variable volume insole because I use orthotics.)

This is a great boot. Like most Salewas, the boot runs just a touch small. But it was comfortable out of the box, and a few days after getting them I did a 36-mile backpacking trip and had zero issues. Good cushioning and a reasonably stiff sole.

Great ultralight boot. Innovative design. Inner sleeve is comfortable and holds foot in place. Great for narrow, low volume feet.

The shoes felt great on my feet, true to size. I ordered 1/2 size down as other reviewers said. Really light. The ankle padding was too stiff for me, unfortunately. If I tied these tight like they should be tied, it caused pain and discomfort around my ankles. I tried thicker socks, and it helped, but still not a feeling you would want to deal with. They looked great, I just couldn't wear them for any length of time. My previous pair of alp trainer mids never had this issue.

Incredible lightweight boot/speed hiker with great Italian build quality! This mid-boot/shoe is absolutely capable of anything from trail runs, speed hiking, approach climbing or just walking the trails. Perfect combination of cushioning for serious mileage without having an overly tall sole stack height and losing any responsiveness, meaning you can take on the really technical and rocky trails without sacrificing confidence in the shoes ability. If you take the time to learn the lacing system features it can mean even greater improvement in comfort and confidence in foot lockdown in the shoe on long ascents or long descents where different areas of tightness vs looseness within the shoes are needed. Lastly, the shoe provides serious protection for the brutal and sharp rocks of Arizona’s mountain trails that destroy most shoes.

I love these boots they felt fantastic from day one! As a matter of fact the longer I wore them the better they felt! Super satisfied.

Unfortunately these were too small. I’ll have to return them. But tgey seem beautiful and I really wanted lighter boots which these are!!

These are quality shoes but they require a breaking in period due the rather tight fit. Developed a blister on the side of my right heel after several hours of wear on the initial wearing.

They suck
