Great jacket to wear during the winter in boston. The pockets aren't insulated though. I would have to wear gloves bot besides that it's very warm. The double zipper is hard to use but I got use to it

I like this jacket for everyday use, specially if you are walking in cold winter. It keeps you warm because its light weight but its bulky jacket. I wear small which I think feels like little big. I think you should try it. My only disappointment is there are no pockets inside the jacket and the outside pocket is too low so while walking its not ideal position to put hands in the pocket. But the price compared to Canada Goose, this one is worth it.

True to size. Nice coat, but very few pockets and the hood had a way to tighten from the back but no way to snug up the face area. We decided to go with a different north face parka.

Nice winter clothes. But size is too big. I need to change small size.

Bought it for my boyfriend - we got it in small. He's short and thin-ish (5'1"), There is still more room for two more lawyers to bear the NYC winter weather. I love how the buttons close magnetically, very nice/lux touch

This is might the best down I have ever got. This cloth is pretty good in wind proof and it can keep you warm during the winter.

Overall a nice jacket. Not the high quality craftsmanship that I'd expect from North Face, but fair for the price. I recommend sizing down. I am 5'9 165lbs (athletic build) and I thought the small was a little bigger than what I was expecting.

Looks great, very warm and hood keeps the elements at bay. Could use more pockets

As you guys can see from other comments, I recommend to order an one size smaller than usual if you want to buy it. I am 178cm, 75kg, always wearing a Medium size for other clothes. Medium for this one is a bit large for me. However, other things are just great. I hope I could try a small size and decide if I return it or not.

This jacket is very warm but not the most well built. At this price point, I expect a better quality and craftsmanship in the jacket.

I have the original GTX in urban blue and black! I love it that much! looks smooth and mature yet can be worn casual etc,.,,,u get the point,,,,,I agree with the reviewer true north in his assessment of cutting corners,,,,slowly but surely the brand is getting worse in quality,,,,im eye balling the outer borough to purchase since its on sale and that type of quality is guaranteed to go away in next years parkas! prob will be my last parka purchased....my sons both are on their second parkas outer boroughs and I have all together at least 7 coats parkas etc,,,,even summit series used to rock,,,now mmmmeh! Too bad so sad

This jacket looks really nice and is really warm even in cold winter, and the magnetic stormflap is a nice touch. But the first thing I noticed wrong was the zipper, which I had read in the comments that was too weak, and from the beginning I saw that it was true. It would be hard to zip it, and it would open from the bottom, which is not really nice when is 10F outside, but I could live with this.
What made me return the jacket is that after just two weeks of normal use, the fabric at the back started to fall apart just from the friction with my study backpack.

I have the original Defdown Gore-tex Parka, so I know what you've done and it's unacceptable. For the last few years I've been hearing, and reading rumblings about my beloved North Face, and how there products argoing down hill, due to cutting corners and I still stuck with you guys because I've been wearing North Face for years. I let it go that you don't have cinching chords at the bottom of your parkas or Gotham jackets, but you've gone too far with the Defdown II. It is supposed to be an updated version of the original Defdown Parka, instead the jacket has regressed! The original Defdown parka that I have, has two zippered pocket on each side. One smaller one for your hands and maybe a cell phone, and another huge fully zipped pocket above that one that can fit a tablet in it, probably even a full sized lab top. It also has an internal zippered pocket for valuables that you don't want exposed to the elements. It has magnetic buttons not only along where you zip-up the jacket, but also behind the faux fur on the hood, so you have the option of leaving the faux fur down on windy/harsh days or nights, or you can push the faux fur up and the magnetic buttons keep the faux fur out of your face. Not to mention that this years jacket feels a lot flimsier/lighter than last years, and not in a good way, it doesn't feel as stuffed as the original Defdown parka, but this last point is up for debate. What isn't up for debate is taking out the two huge side pockets, the internal pocket, and the magnetic buttons behind the faux fur hood, all of which made the jacket worth buying. Oh!!! And I almost forgot!! The plastic feeling cheap zippers you now use! Come on guys, you're better than this. Don't treat your customers like chumps. We pay hard earned money to your company for a solid product. Please stop cutting corners on us. Your company earned its name for quality, not the quantity of money you save by cutting corners and cheating your loyal customers.Shame on you!Shape up.

First off, this jacket is a lot puffier than it looks in the photo. I'm 6'0'', 195lbs and the Large size is a little too big -- the shoulders are good, but body length is too long. I did use the size guide and I normally wear size L from The North Face. The main reason for my rating is a manufacturing error with the sleeves. The sleeve cuff on the right sleeve is sewn on the inside whereas the cuff on left arm is sewn on the outside, causing the section with the down to slip out - see the pictures. I also don't like how much the hood puffs out when its laying on my back too (once again, more than pictures). Overall, I think this has fantastic potential for a heavy winter coat, but it's just not quite there.
