I bought a pair of Salewa shoes to go the Yosemite several years ago. I loved those shoes so much, I wore them out! I searched and couldn't find any locally (I always like to be able to try trainer on before I purchase them, because I have a difficult to fit foot.) I tried several other brand trail runners but they didn't givey foot the support I was looking for to wear on loose footing. I decided to give the ones on Zappos a try because the risk was low. I love these as much as my original pair! They have support that will help me ot turn over my ankle on loose footing on mountain trails!

These are comfortable right out of the box, and I'm keeping them. They slip a bit on my heel (which is not unusual for me in general), so I may have to play with the sole inserts some, but it's minor enough that I'm confident I can get that resolved. My only complaint is how heavy they are. I was looking to replace my older pair of Salewa approach shoes. My older shoes are a much lighter weight, slimmer profile shoe and I really loved that- they've taken me through hikes in the Rockies and across the sands in Namibia. They were easy to pack, and I really wanted something just like them. I've tried numerous other brands....and I just keep coming back to Salewa because of how good they fit and how comfortable they are. So, I'm keeping these and we'll see how they do in the long run. But if someone from Salewa is reading this.....please come back with a slimmer, lighter weight version!

Comfortable out of the box. Will see how they do in the long run but they look well made and are comfortable.

I went by other reviewers for this brand and ordered my normal size 7.5, but the shoe runs small and is very narrow in the toe box. I did like the construction of the shoe and the style, color and sole. Unfortunately, this was not the hiking/climbing shoe for me, and returned them.

I really wanted this shoe to work out for me because of all of the colors in the shoe. Lots of colors to work with. Crazy me, I coordinate my clothing I wear with the shoes. I purchased a half size larger as I always do. I had the extra room I needed in the toe area. YAY! But the width was WAY too narrow for me. My right foot is a bit smaller than my left so I tried the shoe on my right. In the short period of time I had the shoe on my foot my foot fell asleep. I definitely have a medium width foot. This shoe is labeled with a medium width. I DON’T THINK SO! Needless to say I returned the shoes.
