Love these! They are extremely comfortable. Bought these along with the Merrell Moab 2 Mid and Chameleon 7 and these were the definite winner. They looked better than the other 2 models and were more comfortable, particularly around the ankle.

I purchased these boots before a vacation in the mountains. They performed well in the twists and turns of mountain hiking. Today I gave them a true test - social distancing by hiking in the rain on a remote, muddy, at times snow covered and water filled path. Their waterproof claim held up and my feet stayed 100% dry.

TWO-FER: have snow/cold/waterproof boot. Wanted something compatible for summer. This mesh foot cover makes the overall boot extremely light way. Well padded keeps foot safe & comfortable. Definitely wearable straight out of the box... it does not require break-in time. Just a great pair of socks (like Thurlos) and you're set.

I wore the Alverstone boots to Iceland for a week and I LOVE them! Usually I hate to wear boots all day, but with these they are comfortable hiking around, and in town. Not heavy. I wish they came a bit wider, but it was o.k. (I have just one foot that is a wide...the other is medium width.) Like with most Merrells, I get 1/2 size larger. I don't know how waterproof they are because they didn't get wet. And I don't know how they would be for mountain hiking all day. But, for day hiking around, they were great.

These shoes are wonderful!! I wore them for six hours of hiking without breaking them in at all; felt super supported and no blisters afterwards! They feel a teeny bit big, but I’m sure if I were wearing thicker socks, they’d be perfect.

I wear these Merrell Alverstone hiking boots on morning hikes with my dog on rural trails. The boots are comfortable and provide the stability that I was looking for. I sized up a half size as recommended and wear with heavy socks. Like the arch support and fit on my old feet that have issues with a bunion and hammer toe. I feel safer walking in these boots.

Ordered half a size up after reading some reviews & recommendations. Wore these shoes for the first time on a several hour hike through wet/slippery trails and they held up great! Comfortable and sturdy.

The Merrell hiking boot is light weight, seems true to size and offers a nice toe box width. The problem I had is that the arch support was too high and too rigid for my foot. Unfortunately, because of the discomfort I had with the arch support I had to return this item.

Have a hard time finding good walking and hiking shoes. I have a narrow heal, somewhat wide ball and a high arch. In addition I wear a size 4.5/5 shoe. I dare you to find a shoe that fits. But, this one does! Good support for walking in the flat, up or down hills and uneven ground. The style is nice and the color is great. I recommend them

Third times a charm with these Merrell Alverstone hiking boots. I decided to switch from Brooks running shoes to hiking boots for backpacking trips. I ordered the Ultra Lone Peak and Oboz Sapphire boots and found the Ultra's to have a sloppy fit, while the Oboz ankle area was too stiff. My third order included these Merrell Alverstone, which are keepers. The arch supports are such that I can actually feel something under my high arches, - a rare delight! My heels settle into cradles for more support. Overall, they are very comfortable, even with a full backpack. The treads grip muddy trails much better than the running shoes. These boots have not become waterlogged yet, but, so far, they have kept my feet dry walking through shallow streams. I recommend that you give them a try!

I normally wear an 8 1/2 in Merrells, but had to order a 9 in this one. They were comfortable right out of the box and I wore them for hours. They are mostly for a hiking trip to Australia, but I expect to be wearing them for more than that during winter here on the east coast.

I haven't wore the hiking yet, but I have put them through the rigors of two, 12-hour shifts in my Emergency Department to break them in, and they preformed well. My only complaint is that my feet get a little hot, but that is to be expected with a well cusioned, waterproof hiking boot. I think wool socks would work well to help keep feet comfy during a long trek.

Very comfortable- they fit and supported well from the first wearing. I have rarely had a hiker as comfortable as these! However, “waterproof” turned out to be an exaggeration. I cross a small stream in our daily walks and it didn’t take long to start leaking in a couple of small places. After a while I just got used to having damp toes. The hike is only a couple of miles so no big deal… Because I can’t find other waterproof hikers that are as comfortable, I am trying these again in a fit of optimism!

Excellent hiking boot. Gives great support and grip on uneven surfaces.

Great boots. Really comfortable and good on the trail. Great for hiking rocky terrain.

I really like these boots. Bought them for day hikes/walking. Wish they came in a wide, but the medium width is wider than other Merrell styles. Lighter than many boots, easy to get on, and I like the mid-cut for stability. Plan to take them on a trip to Iceland this year, so this will test how waterproof they are!

Very comfortable - I wear them on short hikes daily, through mud and small streams. They don't stay waterproof, though. They lasted through one summer season but by winter, my feet were getting wet. Looking for a replacement that's just as comfortable but that will actually keep the water out!

Comfortable right out of the box.

I bought these shoes on the advice of a podiatrist. They’re the first pair of shoes I’ve found that correct my foot position and provide the right support to mitigate a persistent case of tendinitis in my foot. I will definitely wear these a lot and wouldn’t hesitate to buy them again.

the size and fit was great as i could use my custom orthotics. look forward to wearing them.

I usually can't wear lace up shoes. They typically cut into top of foot at arch due to the seam at start of laces. These didn't have that! I've also realized if I go to a 7 (usually wear 6.5) it will accommodate my orthotic. I can keep the laces looser except at the knot. Merrells really work for me. I have high arches, PF and wide at toe/narrow at heel. I've already been wearing these every day walking my dog and they are great. Don't dig at the ankle and good right out of the box. Looking forward to wearing these on some trails.

This is my first pair of Merrell's and the first time in quite awhile that I have worn hiking shoes of any kind. They have the feel of a tennis shoe but the weight and sturdiness of a boot. They don't completely cover my ankles and I'm okay with that. They are completely waterproof. I took them for a 5 mile walk the first time out and my feet, back and knees feel fine. I'm happy with these overall!

Love it! Feels good right out of the box. No break in period.
