The Caldera 3 runs true to size. It has a roomy toe box for good toe splay. Low profile is very comfortable, has a moderate arch, and is a very cushy feel which my old joints like! I wore the Brooks Pure Flow for years, which is a comfortable minimal shoe, but not a lot of material between your foot and the road. I am 58 and my feet/joints are starting to feel the years of running so the plusher ride of the Caldera is a welcome upgrade. It has the same 4mm drop as the Pure Flow but somehow they've engineered the Caldera to have more sole, but not feel like a big, clunky shoe - like the Hokas do. Love the purple laces, but they are slippery and I have to double tie them because they always come untied when I run. Great shoe, hope they come out with more color choices!

I wore Glycerin for years (loved) then switched to Cascadia. The Cascadia provided more traction on the gravel and dirt path I use regularly. Sixty four year old knees wanted some cushioning, so I bought the Glycerin again. Not enough traction in the rain/gravel/dirt. The lovely Zappos took them back and I ordered the Caldera. Four miles straight out of the box! Excellent grip in the PNW rain; heavenly cushioning. I have always worn Brooks size 8.5 and that's what I ordered. Perfect fit. The colors are pretty outlandish, but who cares about that anyway? ????

These shoes were awesome and comfortable right out of the box. They really propel you forward. You can't feel the ground underneath the shoes. They are also extremely light for the amount of cushioning the shoe provides. These are my new trail runners.

I love these running shoes. I already owned the Brooks Cascadia and wanted something with a little more cushion. I tend to run mixed paved/trail, usually having to run the road to get to a trail. I have only run about 15 miles in these but they are amazing. They are very comfortable and lightweight. No blisters or break in issues. I wear an 8 in most shoes and purchased these in an 8. I have a slender mid foot but wide forefoot due to bunions and these shoes, and Brooks in general, work well.

I have purchased many Brooks shoes the past 4-5 shoes and haven't found a better shoe yet. I thought that I was going to like these shoes for trail hiking as the toe box is wider than the original Caldera. However, the Caldera 3 offers much less control/support than the original Caldera. My feet and knees ached after wearing these on a 3 mile hike. I like that the insole can be removed as I wear orthotics. I'm going to try my everyday walking shoes (Ariel '18) and see how those work on my hikes.

Fit and size were the same as other Brooks that I have had in the past. They were comfy right out of the box for 2 miles! They are lower profile than my Ariels, but are very cushy and have great traction. Can't wait to hike in them!

I've been a Brooks Cascadia fan for years and decided to try out the Caldera's. I was interested in the extra dynamic cushion and other upgraded trail running features. Unfortunately, they were immediately dissapointing and continue to be so. They are not a attractive shoe but I'm willing to sacrifice style for a great shoe. The extra padding "seemed" nice at first. Five miles later I had several blisters and my arches were cramping. They also seem to lack ankle support that I expect in a trail running shoe. I tried another run, hoping that they just needed to be broken in, and no luck yet. In fact, my feet faired even worse. Pretty dissapointing. I'll be sticking to the Cascadia's and would return these if I could.

I did not use these for trail running. I Ruck (hike and workout with a heavy backpack on) and they did great. They will come off if you're marching to close to someone or through some obstacles, just an FYI. They dry out quickly through wet terrain.

I have not had the opportunity to put many miles on the Caldera 4 shoes to date, but initially, they are very comfortable.

I love these shoes because they grip the wet Florida streets when I am on them. I can run, walk, jog anywhere with confidence. They look and feel great too.

First, let me say that Brooks is the only walking/running shoe that I can wear comfortably for long walks. I am 68 years old and must have the right shoe. I walk 2+ miles a day on pasture land which is like trail walking. I ordered 3 different Brooks Trail shoes, Divide, Caldera 3, and Cascadia. I haven't tried the Divide yet, I switch between the Caldera 3 and the Cascadia. I bought the waterproof version of the Cascadia and it is definitely waterproof. I wear them when the ground is wet. I am walking in wet grass and the Cascadia keeps my feet dry. The Caldera 3 is my favorite for walking on dry grass. The Caldera 3 has a softer footbed and feels so good to my feet. They are so comfortable that I usually keep them on after I complete my exercise. They are lightweight and feel more like a running shoe than a trail shoe. Before ordering any of the shoes, I talked with a Brooks representative who recommended the trail shoes for me. I was hesitant about purchasing for everyday exercise and was pleasantly surprised when I received them. All three pair are lightweight and comfortable. Do not hesitate to purchase Brooks trail shoes for walking/running on dirt/grass terrain.

I love these shoes! They are super comfy with good arch support. They took no time to break in, but after about two weeks of wear, they've started to squeak a bit. Not a deal breaker just kind of annoying. They are super grippy. I usually wear a pretty consistent size 8.5 and I ordered a 9 in these.

The most comfortable shoes I've found since they discontinued the easy spirit get up and go. I'm a 12 hour nurse with arthritis in my feet.

I run easy trails, consisting of gravel and dirt, with little incline/decline. Some of the gravel portions are loose and large, and I run in inclement weather. The do really well on the trail and the rare portions of pavement that I come across - they have good grip and cushion. Also, I have high arches, tend to bare weight on the mid or fore foot, and have metatarsal pain. I have long, wide splaying toes, and the toe box suits them well. They provide more cushion in the forefoot, and the 4 mm puts me in a better landing position. I'm 40 yo, run twice a week, about 3 miles to 10 miles each time. I would definitely recommend.

So comfortable right out of the box. Took them on a 7 mile hike the first day. Ample toe box and great support! Thank you, Brooks!
