Beautiful boot; did not work for me. Calf was much too wide (both at the top and with too much of a calf bulge: I could fit all ten fingers in the top), but most boots are too wide on me. It was true to Frye sizing and comfortable. Also, the wedge heel needs a “rocker”, in my opinion, to be comfortable. It’s a 90 degree angle where the heel hits the floor, making for a clumpy stride. But if this doesn’t bother you, and you have more like 15” calves, you might love these.

I love these boots but had to return as the calf is too wide and tall. Nearly hits my knees and overall look unattractive. If this is ever fixed id buy in a heartbeat! ??

Love these boots! I was a little concerned before I purchased that the calf would be too big or small but the size 10 were perfect. 15.5" When they arrived there was a little waxy, splotchy appearance to the leather but I used a damp cloth and just gently washed the leather and it looks great. Please note that there is some "distressing" to the look of the leather. Overall, great and so comfortable!! Pix below are when the boots arrived.

These are the perfect dress boot for those of us who want a moderate, foot friendly, but classic silhouette. The leather is beautiful, and the quality is exactly what you'd expect from Frye. My new favorite boots.

Gorgeous boots! They don't slouch, but they're not skin tight either, opening up just a bit at the top, which has the benefit of making your legs look thinner. And the wedge heel is great--gives you height without the pain. I bought them in the grey and the brown; returned the grey because it was a bit too sallow. The brown isn't a deep brown, more a middle brown with deep shading in places (making them look like you've worn them in doing very romantic things like riding horses in the countryside). You can wear it with black for a more casual look, and then with everything else. The zipper is metal, so these won't be breaking down anytime soon. A quality shoe that is well-made.

The boot was an inch wider at the top than stated. It also hit my knee. Much taller than any of their other tall boots I own. The boot for my foot well and was very comfortable. Nice quality and perfect color. So disappointed in the top width and height. Otherwise it would’ve been the perfect boot for me and exactly what I have been waiting eight years for them to come out with a nice simple boot.

I have owned these boots for about a month now and really love them. They are a beautiful boot. They are fairly tall (they hit just under my knee) so if you don't have long legs, that might bother you. Likewise, they are wider at the top than they appear in the picture, but I don't mind that look: I think it makes my legs look slimmer and they fit comfortably over jeans. I am a teacher who is on my feet for several hours a day, and I find them very comfortable. The only reason I gave them four stars instead of five is they are already starting to show some signs of wear on the leather. Thankfully I don't mind a distressed look, but I think for the price they would withstand wear a bit longer.

Is it possible to be in love with a boot? Because I totally am. My calves are more muscular and I normally measure around 15-16 inches. These fit great still...so they seem a littler wider in the shaft than stated on the description. I can even wear them comfortably over skinny jeans. The leather is nice and soft and great quality. This is my first pair of Frye boots, and I am not disappointed! Moderate support bc, duh-wedge. Buy these! Buy them now!

These are just about the prettiest boots I've ever seen. And they should be for the price--ouch! I'm 5'3" and about 125 lbs. They do come up to my knee pit and are a little loose around the top, but nothing crazy. I like that they don't make me feel claustrophobic like some super tight boots do. I could probably wear some boot socks with them. The color is perfection for fall. I'm in love.

The pair I received were scratched and the leather was stained so I’m returning them. I’d like to re-order since these boots are very cute and stylish.

These boots are beautiful, but I'll chime in with the other folks who returned them for due to them being very wide at the calf and slightly awkwardly tall compared to other 'knee high' boots. Loved the wedge heel and the leather, though. Had they fit differently they would have been keepers!

Loved the way the bottom of the boot looked - great wedge at a comfortable height! I've been in search of a wedge boot, as my flat leather boots are hard to drive with. At me being 40-ish, my feet have taking a beating from my younger days of wearing heels. But, habits die hard, so I still try to get in a bit of height when I can, and these boots were it! Stylish wedge and just enough height to walk around in. However, on the flip, there's not much insole cushioning and/or arch support, so I could imagine my feet hurting after several hours of walking or standing. Additionally, the shaft opening was way too big, which was the deal breaker for me. I'm 5'4", and the boots touched the bottom of my knees, so the opening was quite wide. I could stick my whole hand down into it. Now, my legs are somewhat slim, but the opening would be just too wide, even with jeans on. Considered altering them, but the initial cost of the boot puts me over my price point. Sadly, they go back and am continuing my search.

These boots are really pretty, and I was really excited to put them on when I got them. They fit well in the feet, but the shaft is very tall and the calf very wide. I am about 5’3” with normal proportions (neither my legs nor torso are long, just average). The boot shaft came up to just beneath my kneecap. I think that the extra space in the calf might be due to the fact that these boots are simply made for taller people. If my legs were longer, the boot opening would have been at the bigger part of the calf and maybe not been so huge. In short, if you are tall or are proportioned so that you have really long legs for your height, these will probably work for you. Otherwise, I would choose a different pair.

I have this in brown I had purchased from a different site. I was very happy to find a black pair on Zappos and immediately made a purchase. I was very disappointed when I received the black pair yesterday. The attached pic says it all. Had to return!

I normally wear between 7.5-8.0. I ordered the 7.5. The foot box felt true to size, but the top of the boot was too wide and looked funny. I have fairly athletic legs and was surprised that there was so much room around the top of the boot. The quality of the leather seemed to be quality.

The color was what I was looking for but it was too wide around the calf.

Everything was great - except for the circumference at the top of the boot, it's about 16''. The description states it's 14.5" - that occurs like halfway up (middle of) the boot shaft. Disappointing because although I thought the heel might be too high, they were so comfortable to walk in and when it comes wedge heels, we all know that the angle can make or break the look and and our ability to have comfort!

These are beautiful boots and they fit the foot and ankle well, however, I ran into the same issue as the other reviewers...they are very, very wide at the top. I do not have thin calves, either. Really bummed, as they were exactly what I was looking for in every other way!

I ordered three separate pairs of these boots to get the best pair. Overall, it's a great fitting boot, true to size, ample room in calf (too much if you have a slender calf). However, the leather of one of the pairs looked like it had suffered water damage--white, chalky color--even though the box it was shipped in was dry and undamaged. Another pair's leather quality did not match: one of the pair had a very smooth, finished texture, the other had a more 'worn' look. The third pair had matching leather quality, but was discolored and seemed as though it had been polished in attempt to fix it. (The black polish rubbed off on my hand.) I have a few pairs of Frye boots, and this is the first time I've ever encountered these problems. Bummer.

The calf is far too wide on these, with an unattractive gap at the top of the shaft. They also left black marks all over my hands and on my bedspread when I merely put them there while packing them back in the box. Not Frye's best work.

A well-constructed boot and beautiful brown leather; but can find alternatives for $129-$150 that are much more comfortable. Not worth the price tag. The medium width was a little narrow for my width. Also, the bulk in the calf didn't fit well.
