I got the Altra shoes because I have started strength training in a gym and my trainer thought it was best to have "zero drop" shoes. The Altra are nice and light and have a wide toe-box which is good for my foot shape. Feels quite different than usual athletic shoes to have them with no heel support but I do think it is more like being barefoot yet still with some support.

Wanted to love these since I love the escalate from Altra. Unfortunately they felt too tight with my orthotics and the emblem on the outer side of the left shoe was rubbing against my foot so I had to return. That’s just my experience though so I would still recommend them to others since they have a nice look and seem like they could be comfortable for the right feet (or at least without orthotics added).

These were far too narrow. What ever happened to the Altra sneakers of long ago, that actually had a wide toe box? Forget these if you're looking for a wide toe box.

Bought these shoes for Crossfit workouts. Love them, wide toe space, zero drop heel helps with the squats!

I read the reviews about the shoe running narrow, a half size too small and stiff. I found this was not true about these shoes for me. I am used to Nike trainers that always make my feet feel light, right and narrow. I love how light the Nike is but that not this shoe, it’s sole is thicker and sturdier but not stiff to me. Nike is narrow to the point is make me walk on the outside of my shoes. No matter the size it just never works out. I buy my size because it feels perfect until my toes are all crammed together and it’s discouraging. I buy them a half size bigger and they look like old man sneakers that we too soupy.
I am returning his pair because I feel I may need a half size smaller than I normally buy. Just in case I ordered my size and Plan to update the feedback then.

I was hoping a B width would fit me, but I need WIDE. Why don't you make a shoe in WIDE? My foot doctor recommended your shoes, but I cannot get them to fit me.
I'd also recommend:
Brooks makes a WIDE shoe, so does KEEN.

This Altra has good cushion and arch support. It's too narrow for my feet. I can usually wear altra's but these didn't work for my wide forefoot. If you are a medium width, then this might work for you.

I was very excited about trying these shoes for HIIT training. My coworker has them and raves. I found them uncomfortably narrow in the area between the heel and arch. It felt as though the arch was back to far. I had the length/size right according to the package insert and loved the wide toe box. The upper was too stiff and uncomfortable when I flexed my toes such as jumping ot calf raises. Just not a good shape for my foot.
I'd also recommend:
I love the Altra Lone Peak Trail Runner. I wear Hoka. Looking for the zero-drop HIIT/court shoe.

Super stiff. Not at all like the flexible Escalante. Going back--and hoping new colors arrive in Escalante.
