This hiking shoe is a perfect blend of form and function. I recently concluded a 6-mile day hike in the Appalachian Mountains, which was the inaugural outing for these shoes. I was very pleased with the results. The materials and fit provide a wonderful synthesis of stability and support without excessive rigidity, and comfort without excessive softness. My feet were comfortable (after scrambling up a trail containing a variety of rocks) and dry (on a post-rain hike) all day long. My shoe size often straddles between 12.5 and 13 (US). I decided to go for the size 13, with the understanding that feet often 'expand' after a few miles of hiking. I'm happy to report that the sizing was excellent. The beautiful look of these shoes make them appropriate for wearing in a restaurant after a day of hitting the trail. They will be my primary shoes for hikes in the mountains of Northern Spain and walking the cobblestoned streets throughout Europe. Bravo to Salomon for creating such an outstanding shoe, and kudos to Zappos for carrying them!

Very attractive shoe that fit well with solid arch support. Comfortable and lightweight. I bought my normal size and they were a bit tight, so I ordered a 1/2 size larger and they are very comfortable. Love them so far.

I am ordering my 3rd pair of X Ultra 3 leather shoes. They fit my feet perfectly, offer good support with my orthotics and are very comfortable. I like the easy pull laces, although they tend to wear out over time. Fortunately, it’s easy to buy a replacement Quicklace Kit when the need arises and I keep an extra set on hand just in case. These have become my daily Go-To shoes around home and trails. Waterproof, durable and good looking are the trademarks for this model along with comfort. As long as they keep making these, I will keep buying and wearing them out.

I ordered a full size bigger than I normally get and they fit fine. The shoe is comfortable and looks great! I'm looking forward to hiking in them this coming weekend.

Have not worn them that much but they felt comfortable the minute I put them on. Much more comfortable than the shoe that I returned. Nice style and the lacing system is unbeatable. Just so slick and quick.

This is my 6th pair of Salomon shoes and in my opinion are the very best shoe. My first pair was indestructible and I'm not sure that I will every wear these out. Nice style and a perfect fit. You also can't beat Zappos for quick service and for their return policy. Thanks for taking care of the return of the other brand and the quick turnaround.

I've had these Salomon GTX LTR (low) shoes for almost a year now. They aren't my everyday wear shoe, or even my hard-use 'go-to' trail shoe. That said, I'm REALLY disappointed in them. Again, light use, and I went through TWO PAIR early on with seam stitching unraveling right out of the box/from the factory. Pair #3 (current) shows discoloration and significant wear to the leather upper after only light-duty use. Waterproofing is good enough. Fit, support, and sole wear seems fine. But the materials that went into the leather upper, insole, and the craftsmanship putting it all together DOES NOT WARRANT THE PRICE. You will literally find better workmanship at your local bargain shoe store. VERY disappointed in them at this premium price point. Will be looking for a replacement soon.

Seems well built and good quality material. The sizing is inaccurate. I'm a 10.5/44 consistently and these are tight. I went up to 11.5 -- even 11 might have been cutting it. It's frustrating how many reviews complain about size being on the small end and then proceed to mark "true to size".
