This is the best shoe I have ever owned. I average 7 miles a day, 5 days a week and have owned these for aprox. 1.5 years. That's over 2000 miles on these bad boys which is pushing a shoe way too far. I use this as my everyday work shoe, along with my light hiking shoe here in Colorado. I would say it runs a half size small. I wear a 9.5-10 US and this fits perfect as a 10. Just bought my second pair off Zappos. Once you find a good shoe, stick with it!
I'd also recommend:
Brooks, Salomon, New balance, Saucony.

Nice wide toe box, yet a narrow heel, just what I need in a waterproof trail runner. Have not trail tested, but feel great up and down the stairs.

La Sportiva always runs a half size small so when you order make sure you go up a half size I own 6 pairs of their shoes they are made remarkably well and worth the price I wear them everyday at work and I walk concrete all day and in the gym they offer great stability when you're squatting 250 lbs all around one of the best shoe makers out there.

I wear a 13 comfortably in about every type of shoe. This ran at least a half size too small. Also, the mid section was incredibly tight around the foot. I thought the laces were too tight, but after checking them in the end the shoe is just incredibly tight in this region. I love La Sportiva, just wish they would update their sizing as this is a common complaint with a lot of their shoes.

Like other La Sportiva trail running shoes I purchased, I recommend going 1/2 size larger. With that being said, the Lycan GTX fit very well and felt great. Can't wait to take them out on the trail!

I bought these shoes a couple of months ago and they have help up to some pretty bad conditions good for the winter and spring season when it's wet.

I haven't used the non Gore Tex version, but I have found these to be true to size. Really like the sole for running in the snow. These fit wider in the forefoot than my old bushidos and I like them better.

My 2nd pair of La Sportiva, also have the non-GTX Lycan, which I also love. These are more rugged with GTX, perfect for off-road running, even hiking. Very rugged and solid.

I got this shoe to replace my aging Speedcross pair and they don't disappoint. 1) Soles are knobby with awesome traction in snow, mud etc, much more so than the regular Lycan. They are comparable to Speedcross soles. 2) Wide toebox is super - this was my biggest complaint of the Speedcross that their toeboxes were way too narrow. 3) Lightweight, easy to break in - so many trail running shoes are very stiff however these are not.

La Sportiva nailed it with this shoe!!! The cushion and fit of the shoe are perfect for long days on the trail. The lugs are perfect for the mud and can accept the hobnails! The traction is incredible and the shoe keeps your feet nice and dry in wet, muddy conditions!! It's the Jeep Wrangler of shoes!!! It is a great trail runner or hiker!!!

The waterproof running shoes run much narrower and longer than the same size in the non-Gore-Tex shoes.
