Verified PurchaseReview for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
Smart looking, functional, perfect size to carry every day. Just returned from week in Europe and used this as my daily bag--carried passports, tickets, wallet, glasses case, headphones, scarf, thin sweater, snacks, and 2 water bottles easily. Easy to organize with the 3 compartments plus a zippered pocket in the large compartment. Usually carried as a backpack but also has a top handle. Loved the dark purple color.

I bought this backpack for myself and I absolutely love it. It's a a tad bit smaller than your standard pack (which is just one of the reasons I like it so much), but it still is spacious enough for me to pack everything I need. I have a small frame and this bag fits perfectly on me! I use this pack on a daily basis and I'm able to carry everything I need comfortably in the main compartment. The middle front compartment stores my pens, phone, wallet, and other little odds and ends. Then the smallest front pocket is just as useful as it has a small clip to hold your car/house keys. I love the small open pockets on both sides which have proven to be super handy. Not only is the bag stylish, but it's also very durable and very functional. I have and will continue to recommend this bag to others!

I had another Timbuk2 petite backpack before this one but I wanted an update. I love the design, the gold zippers, and the convenient pockets. The side pockets are perfect for a slim coffee thermos and umbrella. I commute 3+ hrs a day to work and this holds everything I need, with room. It's also comfortable to wear.

I was looking for a small backpack that could hold a 13" laptop and a few notebooks for classes, and this backpack does the trick. The design and color are very sleek and unassuming. Didn't expect the straps to be so plush--it's great. Smaller backpacks usually leave out consideration for the straps. Love the number of pockets and zippers inside. There's a small outer pocket perfect for keys. Middle pocket easily holds a wallet, pencil case, game console, etc. The biggest compartment has a pocket for 13" laptop and can hold notebooks, papers. It even has a small compartment inside, a nice place to tuck chargers and earphones. Two ears on the side hold a water bottle and umbrella. My only issue are the zippers--for a backpack I'm using everyday, I wish the zipper mechanism were more smooth, especially for the price of the bag. I'm small, I pack light, and I like this backpack. To my small friends out there, it's a pocket-filled backpack that won't make you stick out like a turtle.

What a wonderful bag! Sturdy like all Timbuktu bags, aesthetically walks that oh-so-hard-to-find line between sturdy functionality and city chic, and -- importantly for me at 5'4" -- straps that can adjust down to fit my frame! I can't tell you how many otherwise wonderful backpacks I've returned because the straps were too long. The only thing I'd add to make this backpack completely perfect would be pen loops or small pockets for organization in the larger outside pocket. Other than that, perfection!!!!!

Bought online with some hesitance ... it was perfect! Compact yet fits my laptop, sturdily built and got a compliment on it the dirt time I used it! Just the right fit between sharp and earthy!

This is a great option for those wanting a smaller-sized backpack. Good amount of space and a good selection of compartments/pockets (not too many, not too little). Good option for people who may commute to work like I do.

I took a chance on this backpack and it paid off. It was the perfect size! Not too big, not to small. I used it for a weekend getaway and all my items fit perfectly in it. I would love to order the purple one if it goes on sale!

I got my 1st TIMBUK2 product through company gift - a messager bag, the longer I have it the more I appreciate it - the quality, the design, no doubt that TIMBUK2 is a high-end brand, so I started searching and bought TIMBUK products on my own, very impressed.

Thank goodness the Recruit is a smaller backpack! Great design Interior has sturdy laptop / iPad section; the combo zip pocket with two slip pockets is terrific. I love that the zip is large enough to fit my card case! Two outside pockets are well designed as well!

This backpack is exactly what I was hoping for! I'm a graduate student and wanted a bag for my laptop that looked professional enough to wear to work as well as my internship. Its definitely smaller than the average backpack which makes me love it even more since I'm 5 foot 2 inches. The purple is true to the pictures, and there a good amount of padding on the straps so that it fits comfortably when I have a ways to walk. I'm tempted to get the green one as well since I love it so much!!

Looks as expected (except the fabric is "shiny"). Very comfortable backpack for my two borough NYC commute. Fits my laptop, meal prep, and small bag with my external battery and chargers with room to spare.
Silly me didn't think to double check the size of my work laptop (standard Lenovo thinkpad) which is slightly bigger then 13 inches but the laptop still fights (tight, but it fits)
I've only used it for a couple days but it looks to be well made.

This is exactly what I was looking for! I wanted a small-ish backpack that would hold everything I needed but not be bulky. I like the small compartments that it has on the front and inside the main pouch.

So I bought this because there's a luxury bag that looks similar to this but I'm not willing to shell out hundreds of dollars for it. I waited until this went on sale on Black Friday and snatched it up. I also had a travel planned for December so it was the perfect way to test this out. I used this backpack everyday to work (Chicago public transport commute) leading up to my trip. And during the 2 weeks I was gallivanting in different cities in Europe, I was packing this to the brim. I was a little worried that the zippers would eventually burst but it's held up pretty good. The size is perfect for my frame. The material feels expensive. But the look - it's the one that really made me fall for it in the first place. I really love the look of this.
Two things I would say I don't like is the gold zipper in the middle pocket and the very front pocket clasp. I feel like it will give out because of the shape it's given. if it was more rounded, I think it would be smoother to open and close. The front pocket clasp - why this floppy magnet thing? It never closes properly, and even when I do, it opens on its own.
But overall, I love this bag. I am hoping it will be my bag for years to come.

I commute in downtown and needed a functional backpack for my everyday belongings. This bag is perfect. It's feminine, not too big but has plenty of room for daily use. It fits my 13" laptop perfectly as well. Good pockets and the construction is great quality. I LOVE the dark purple color as well.

It's my everyday bag. Holds my water bottle, regular handbag stuff, books, and my laptop. Rugged, yet stylish. Doesn't fade, dirt wipes off. That's why I bought two.

The size is perfect, not too small and not too big. I use it instead of a purse and I am able to carry everything I need. It's very pretty and have received many complements.

I was looking for a new work backpack after my Everlane bag started to develop holes. I was hoping to upgrade to something more professional and this fits the bill. It's small but well organized and holds my 13" laptop, ipad, planner, coffee cup, water bottle, a sweater and all the tiny stuff I need on a regular basis. The weight is well balanced and it doesn't feel heavy even when stuffed.
