Fantastic sole; messed up sizing. It KILLED my little toe. I read the reviews and sized up, it STILL pinches my toe. The toe boxes are also very weirdly uncomfortable. Shame, because the sole was finally the kind I would need for a good hike. These will have to go back. I am a veteran VFFer. Have so many pairs and now have to buy a new one because all the others have worn out!

The shoes are great except that the material that makes up the toes on the right foot is wonky. The material doesn’t want to straighten out. I’m going to give it a few days and try to manipulate it by hand and see what happens.

Fit was a little small in the length but perfect every other way. I returned for one size larger.

I bought the Trek Ascent Insulated simply because I can no longer find the Trek Ascent and I depend on barefoot/fivefinger shoes for stairclimbing (not stairstepping) because all other shoes are too heavy for this particular activity. However, Vibram has been all over the map in the past 2 years with sizing and the insulated version is very different from the non-insulated. Had to size up to 40 when I previously wore 39 in Vibrams, but still toes too short in size 40 and too long in size 41. So, no option but to return. The "collar" also comes rather high on the ankles. Otherwise, beautiful shoes.
