Originally I thought the shoe fit perfect. I wanted it to fit snug and provide support which it did very well. Unfortunately when on the court I realized that I should have gotten a half or full size larger. Too late, already wore them for 3 sets. The last of which caused extreme toe pain when I came to an abrupt stop at the net. My fault not New Balance or Zappos.

Ordered 1/2 size larger after reading other reviews. I wear 12 1/2 when I can get them, ordered 13 and it was perfect. Have not wore them on the court yet but expect them to do just fine.

I bought these to replace the 786 tennis shoe which was discontinued. It was the best fitting athletic shoe for any sport of any brand that I have owned. The 696 is not. After trying several New Balance models and many others I settled on this one by default. It is way undersized. The 11 1/2 that I finally bought is barely a long as the 10 1/2 786. Everything is a compromise. If I lace it up tight enough to keep my big toe from banging into the front of the shoe it rubs on the instep. If I lace it a little looser it is loose in the heel. New Balance needs to bring back the 786 and offer it with a gum sole version. I play racquetball in them three times a week.

After playing Pickleball for three hours my feet were killing me. There is no padding in the insole. I will put some gel insoles in but these are not comfortable shoes. I also ordered a 10.5 wide and got it but I think I need a double wide.

I always wear a 9 medium (D). Based on reviews I ordered a 9.5D. Couldn’t even lace it. So so small. Returning and trying a 10E. Wow.

I ordered these to replace New Balance 786 tennis shoes that I use to play racquetball. Mindful of the reviews, I ordered size 11 to replace my size 10.5. These 11s are shorter than the 10.5s . You see a lot of New Balance shoes made for various purposes on the racquetball courts because they have various fits. I need a squarish toe box and a snug heel. The 786 has been retired and the 796 may or may not be the upgrade but it an entirely different shoe; much too narrow, also short. I've ordered the 11.5 version and I hope they work.

This is the second pair of the shoes that I’ve purchased in the last month and i returned the first because the material on the uppers was fraying and I’m about to request a return for the second pair now! Before you ask, nothing was rubbing against them. I think the area that’s splitting puckers when I walk. I’m very disappointed because I love the style of the sneakers but come on, how many times? Very concerned about buying another pair of New Balance after wearing them for decades.

Great fit, feels like a glove. Also, excellent color combo, especially for Chicago Bears fans. I faithfully wear my pair on Game Sunday watching the BEARS. Goes great with Navy Blue sport pants and a White jersey. New Balance makes a great looking and comfortable shoe. John P. , Glendale Heights, IL

These shoes wear well and fit nicely. Wear them to play pickleball outdoors on a hard court. Wish NB had more pickleball shoes to choose from (or if tennis is the only choice, more colorful options beyond basic white)

Just started to play Pickleball and needed to buy some tennis shoes. Customer Service was excellent. Went with a wider shoe than normal and the feel great.

Always had wide feet. New balance is the only sneaker company I have found to provide 4e width. They fit great. Comfortable and they feel good

They were a little big for my feet, but I have such wide and different sized feet. Great style and look. Zappos is the best.

We have been buying New Balance for as long as we can remember. Always a great sneaker. This time it seems that the sizes are a little bit smaller than usual. We purchase the 10 1/2 mens tennis shoes (2 pair) and had to exchange for size 11. The return and re-purchase we very smoothly. New Balance stands by their commitment to the customer to make everything an easy transition.

I have always purchased much more expensive shoes from NB. Play tennis 5-6 times a week & decided to try their 696v3 and turns out to be the BEST shoe I have ever purchased from NB for TENNIS.

Great looking shoe and comfortable. I had to send a pair back because I did not pay attention to the reviews. These appear to run 1/2 size smaller. Got the new pair yesterday plus 1/2 size and they fit great.

I had some Asics tennis shoes before these which were fine but these are much lighter. Per the others on this comment board, I found the sizing to be weirdly off - I ordered one size larger. Also I wear 4E wide shoes in Asics running shoes. the wide size of these was a good fit.
