I own two Frye handbags and three pairs of Frye boots, so you could say that I'm a fan of this brand. But I wasn't satisfied with this tote bag. The leather is smooth and lovely, yes, and colors offered are beautiful, but the brass hardware doesn't feel like solid brass to me. The Frye website calls the hardware 'brass-tone'. I have no idea how the appearance of the hardware will age going forward and, for a $500+ purchase I would intend to use for decades, that's not an investment I'm comfortable making. The cavity of the tote is spacious, but I use my totes like purses and I would have liked a couple more pockets added to it. Frye also seems to phasing out the use of brass feet on the base of their bags -- leather pads are used here -- and I rather wish that's a corner they wouldn't decide to cut. It's an interesting mix of plain-jane with shiny gold bling -- but not something that quite suits my needs or my taste. I'm returning this.
