I spent a lot of time trying many different low hikers to finally decide upon these. I wanted a low, light weight, waterproof hiker. I also wanted to use it in warm to hot conditions, so I looked for as little leather as possible. I also wanted durability and well made brand. It took a while. My review is largely about fit, since the features and materials are self explanatory...… Gore-Tex extended comfort, Vibram, etc. The fit needed to accommodate wearing day hiking but also sitting while on trains or lifts etc. I don't like to carry or pack too many types of footwear. I often fly in my low boots to save packing space. These Vasques fit the bill in all respects. I don't have overly wide feet but do need a roomy forefoot area. Keen fits me in an 11 but the heal is too loose. Merrell in 11 is OK but too tight in general for all day wear. Asolo fits in 11 but is just too "hard" and stiff for a low lightweight. Oboz fit great in an 11 but are way too big, heavy and clunky for what I wanted. I bought these in 11 normal width. They fit just right. I can hike, or sit, all day and still feel reasonably comfortable. They have plenty of support for me. I doo need some support but have fairly high arches so not a huge need. My heel stays firmly in place and they have great lateral stability. Very light feel (for a boot) and perfect flex for a day hiker. My toes have plenty of room and are never cramped. The laces are fairly long but not a problem for me...… I do a little custom lacing and then double knot so they work out just fine. All in all a great boot. I recommend giving them a try.
I'd also recommend:
Keen and Oboz

Was hesitant about the fit based on the reviews on various sites, however here work well for me and I have low arches. Lots of room in toe box for me. Slightly large in the heel area like most Vasques for me personally. The sole is one of the best in the business and the color/style are perfect.

First pair had a defect, promptly replaced by Zappos. One of the better waterproof shoes I can recall. I work in a wet environment and need good footing. I usually go through shoes within a month or two. These are still holding up great and are still dry 6 months later after heavy daily use. Impressive traction as well. Recommended as I’ve bought another pair.

Love these hikers - took them for a five day, 46 mile hike on the AT and they performed well. I will comment that I have narrow feet, and these shoes definitely run narrow (one of the reasons that I purchased them). I agree that they seem a bit short - I bought a 13, but really need a 14 based on the amount of blisters I had on my longer foot. Overall, I will buy these again, and am purchasing a pair for my father in law. Very nice shoe!

I wear 10.5 wides, which is what I ordered. The shoe was a half size short and too narrow in the toe box. I don't think their 10.5 wide is true to size. The shoe felt good and looked great. I think if you are patient and can order and reorder a size that fits it would be a quality shoe. Hard for me to comment on the longevity. I couldn't order a half size up, as it not in stock. Also, can shoe companies ever stop using colors like magnet and lizard? What does that even mean. The magnet/lizard combo was dark grey and dark green.

This is my 3rd pair in probably 6 years , I'm slowly getting used to the darker color that's called the same as before. I ordered a pair from Amazon first and it was incorrectly label 9 1/2, actually looked like 8 1/2. So that pair went back. I think they are lighter in weight than cheaper waterproof hikers like from Bean, so more comfortable for me.

Exactly what I wanted - a solid firm platform that protected arthritic feet from the grind of walking.

Much darker than picture and box label had "brown/olive" on label. Also felt too narrow.

I know my foot size. This shoe fits tight. I'm returning it. It feels too short and too narrow. I wear a 10.5" US Men regular. If the size was right, I think the comfort level would be perfect.

Too narrow! My pinky toes rub against the side of the shoes. Read the other reviews. I think this product is going to fail. The manufacturer needs to get their sizing right and actually have people put on the shoes. If I'm going to drop all that money on shoes, it better fit. This is not worth the money. Returning.
