There is a layer of fabric that feels like its slightly buckling over my big toe on each shoe. Every time I walk I feel the top of my big toes rub against it. Im thinking it may be the Gor-tex layer thats a little loose. Its not an issue of the shoe being too small but it’s still very uncomfortable.

Great shoe design with poor quality materials. Shoe fits and feels great, but the rubber toe is cracking and splitting on both feet long before the rest of the shoe is close to wearing out. .

I have the MOAB in a boot form - super comfortable.
An 8 wide is perfect for me in that boot.
But in the shoe, the 8 is too tight and the 8 wide is huge.
I also have the non waterproof MOAB shoe where the 8 is perfect. Go figure!
Great design let down by inconsistent sizing.

I guess you think everyone is built small and frail. Why do you only make a very few shoes in a wide size. It's really pitiful

It’s just an ok shoe. Slightly stiffer than a tennis shoes but nothing outstanding.

Amazing shoe! Fit is perfect and very comfortable right out of the box. At about 1 year had waterproof issue. I contacted Gore Tex because of their gut warranty "always keep you dry". I should have contacted Merrell instead.

Good fit and comfortable walking. I sent them back because they make a crinkling noise when you walk that is loud enough to be annoying.

Although I was pleasantly surprised with the overall fit of the shoe (I have very wide feet and most shoes designated as W or Wide width are too narrow) I have to agree with other reviews stating that the shoe is "noisy" when walking. I'm sure it has something to do with the gortex incorporated into the shoe but it would most certainly bother me to be so audible as I stroll around. I opted to go with the Moab Vent. Although not waterproof, it's certainly quieter.

I have had purchased this model in the past and wore them all the time.
But these next generation just do not fit my wide feet. The cushioning is not like they used to be, the are advertised as cushion but not really.
I wore them for just a couple of hours at work and both feet felt cramped and even sore, had to take them off.

Overall comfortable, toe box feels slightly small but manageable, I could have maybe gone for a 1/2 size larger. Not shoes fault.
What did surprise me was how slippery the sole is on wet ceramic tiles (even rough ones), also found them slippery on my front brick stoop when wet from rain. My previous Merrell's didnt have this problem. I have been wearing them for the past 2 weeks so i dont feel comfortable sending them back, but I was under the impression that water proof boots would also be slip resistant. They dont inspire confidence that I was looking for under wet conditions.

Am disappointed with size. Moab 2 Gore-Tex runs and feels larger than the Moab 2 waterproof hiker in size that I always purchase. Gore-Tex hikers worn once so can't return. Will have to try inserts or thick socks for winter.

I was really disappointed to find these were fake leather. Will see if they actually hold up. At this price point for a GTX shoe, I would expect leather.

I loved my original Moabs. They fit well, were comfortable, and my feet didn't seem to tire on long hikes. My new Moab 2s do not seem to have the same genetics. The toe box is wider causing them to "wrinkle" when I draw the laces tightly (which leads to uncomfortable rubbing), so I don't tighten them as much as I'd like to. Also, although this a small issue: the laces are no longer flat, but round and they loosen much more easily. I'm frequently retying my laces-an annoyance.

This is probably my fourth or fifth pair of these.Originally they had ortholite innersoles and said continuum on the side, very comfortable. Last pair I purchased ortholite innersoles were gone but still fairly comfortable.New pair feel very hard inside, not happy.

I was hoping this would be like the shoe I bought years ago that I am still wearing! It looked to be a great replacement right out of the box. Unfortunately, it was too big in the toe box, and the tongue was too skinny that it didn't even reach under the laces, making them gouge into my foot and giving me a very uncomfortable fit. Had to return them.

I was excited to get a new pair of Moab GTXs. They were the first really pair of hiking shoes I ever bought over a decade ago. The day after buying them they carried me up to the summit of one of the top 3 ADK High Peaks. They felt amazing the whole time. Then they were my daily work shoes as a photojournalist providing great support and comfort everyday. Bought yet another pair after finally blowing out the heel cushion. Now on to the new Moab 2s... I'll start with the bottom line. Disappointed. The footbed was brutally hard, even after 3 hikes totaling over 10 miles. Also, I ordered a 10.5 and a 10. But when I tried them on it felt like I had ordered an 11.5 and a 9.5 (respectively). I can accept that my size will vary from shoe style to shoe style, but I own 8 (at least) other various Merrell styles and every one is a 10 or 10.5. the variation primarily depending on how much toe room I was looking for.I hope I just got two bad flukes but I've been seeing mediocre reviews of this new version all over...It seems like Merrell forgot Amit the old rule: Of it ain't broke, don't fix (or change) it.Final note: I still love Merrell and all my other shoes from them (work, street, kayaking, trail, winter and everything in between).

First off these shoes are amazing, you can tell that they will last years as soon as you pull them out of the box. The toebox is roomy and the length seems true to size. My only constructive complaint is with the fit of the heel.. it seems that the shoe is a little too short in the back and that my foot should sit lower in it.. this fit causes a little bit of heel slip but nothing too serious, it's more of an OCD feeling that I'm trying to get passed. I actually took the insole out and tried them on and that fits like a normal shoe, so maybe the insert is just tall? I think Merrell would benefit to adjust this on the next round of Moab's. Beside this the shoe is great and I would definitely recommend giving them a try.

This seems to be a good shoe, except that the material between the tongue and side of the shoe material between the tongue and side (around laces) bunches up and rubs into foot, around the flexor hallucia and abductor hallucia muscles. It took a while to spot this, as I was slowly wearing the shoes more and more to break them in, but it did become apparent. I do have high arches, but I haven't ever had this problem with any other shoe.

Had these for a few months and walk in them often. Still feel tough. The tongue sticks way out and super thick. These were replacing a trail runner that was similar but not a classic.

After owning about 6 other Merrel Moabs I'm finally disappointed, this GTX model runs big overall, seems to have less cushioning.
Used extra socks which made them ok, then the outer material started chipping off and the sole separated on one way too soon.
Don't know if I'll stay with this brand now.

These would be very good shoes except for the Vibram sole which cracks or splits to let water into the foam(?), then I get an annoying squish, squish, squish sound as I walk. Too bad; I'll relegate this pair to work boots.

Shoes made "flopping" noise. Hard to take. Maybe just a weird pair? I am returning them.

Never had a problem with Merrell shoes until this pair. I wore them casually for a couple weeks to help break them in, then gave them a workout in Guadalupe National Park. I wore them to summit Guadalupe Peak, and by the time I returned to my campsite I was having pain on my front left foot. I wore my old and almost worn out pair of Merrell Chameleons for the next day. My feet felt so much better. Third day I tried the Moab again with similar results. This time it was my left heal that felt like it was starting to blister. Switched back to the Chameleons and relief was immediate. On the fifth day I again tried the Moabs. This time the tongue on the right foot was causing pain. I really wanted to like these shoes, but they aren't nearly as comfortable me as other Merrells I have worn and they cause me pain.
