They get two stars, because they appear to be well constructed. Otherwise the fraudulent claim of being "waterproof" would get them only one. I've had these boots for a few months, wearing them occasionally for neighborhood walks, and they were fine... until I left the sidewalk and waded through a few inches of snow. No snow got into the boots, and as you can see in the photos, my socks stayed dry... except for the bottom and sides, which are not just damp, but WET. (And I assure you that at 35F, my feet did not sweat in this peculiar pattern.)
If you want boots for hiking in the desert, these would probably be great. If you're looking for something that can handle the occasional puddle or snow, bad choice. And I can't imagine how squishy my socks would get if I wore these hiking in the rain (which was what I bought them for).

I have, now, bought 4 pairs. Returned 3 for busted eyelets and poor quality in a week. Put a year and 1,000 hard miles on the one. Waterproof boots are sweaty and hot above 40.

Comfortable but not water proof , in a couple inches of snow feet are soaked. It is the model that is a source years old so maybe they improved. But says water proof on side and is not

I've had these for almost about 10 months. They get light use walking the dogs. I'd hope to use them for work where I do a lot of walking including in the rain, but they leak. I contacted support in November. sent my information to them and have never heard back. Bu they are comfortable, so I still wear them around town and walking the dogs on good weather. I go back to my old Keens or my heavy duty Red Wings for job sites and rainy days. Very disappointed with Merrell support. .

Bought those boots one year ago. During the same winter, boots came all wet if I walked in few centimeters of water or if the snow is too wet.
I also have the Cam 8 boots, also ''waterproof''. And they are waterproof.
These boots are just NOT !
As a Merrel product, really confort. The best.
Just dont expect them to repeal water for a long time....

Nice boot but this is not waterproof!!!! The whole reason I bought it was because it said it was. Do not be fooled!!!

There was once a time I could buy a Merrell boot and knew it would last 2-3 years of constant wear. I bought the Moab 2 in March 2020, and in November the soles have separated from the uppers, the soles have worn thin to where I can feel every pebble I step on, and to call them waterproof is a joke.

This is a comfortable boot and handles all the types of hiking I do, except that it is not waterproof. Anytime I hike in moist grasses, my socks and feet get wet. I wasted my money buying these boots. I'm ready to buy a boot that is really waterproof.

Your customer service is great, your quality control is terrible, I've had 3 pairs of Moab boots in the last year, all 3 with leaking problems, I could understand if I were walking through a creek bed, but high grass with dew on it, I guess it's time to go elsewhere, thanks for trying

Waterproof? 50%
This is my 5th pair of these boots. Discovered them 16 years ago. Have always been comfortable and durable.
Today, a 30 minute walk in wet, mid ankle high grass resulted in my left foot being soaked, right foot dry. Poor show Merrell. Last pair's waterproofing lasted 2 1/2 years.
We will try again, but disappointed.

I have a pair of your boots, a year and a half- 2 years old that have gone to stink. I washed them, replaced the footbed with dr. scholls..all that. now my feet are not particulerly stinky and I do keep them washed.. I always buy good gear for hiking/biking trips. My boots usually last from 3-5 years..maybe that is overestimating a little bit, but this is way short of expected lifespan. Other than that, they still look great, expected tread wear and all that. I'm pretty disappointed though because I have to get a new pair of boots because these cannot be in the house when they are off.

Great comfortable boots but not waterproof at all! If you walk on dewy ground, avoid these.

These were great at first but, after less than a month my feet are getting wet after walking in wet grass. Disappointing when that is exactly why I bought them was to be able to do stuff around the farm in the morning without getting my feet wet from the dew.

Bought a pair of waterproof and when i walk on wet grass my feet were soaked. Kinda disappointed when you spend that kind of money. Maybe they shipped me the wrong pair.

Bought these boots for a back country kayaking trip a week ago solely based on them being waterproof and because of Merrell's alleged great reputation. Wore them around inside the house for a few days prior to break them in and loved them. Put them on to walk out to my truck before leaving on my trip and my socks got wet just by walking through the morning dew on the grass. Knowing that I was going up to the Adirondacks in freezing weather I had to leave these home and bring huge rubber boots that were at least waterproof. I'm extremely disappointed that I purchased these for this much money because they were waterproof just to have them done in by some dew. I can't imagine how soaked and miserable I would have been slogging through a muddy trail in these. And yes I made sure to purchase the waterproof version not the vented, they even say "Dry" on the side. I never right reviews but wasting my time on these made me want to waste my time further by writing this review. 10/10 would not recommend except for dry season hiking, which doesn't exist in northern NY.

Plain and simple absolutely not waterproof. Not even a little bit. Walked in light dew on a yard, instant wet toes I couldn't believe it. Very disappointing for what these cost.

On my fourth set of Merrell's and was pretty disappointed. If you look at the boot you will see there is a black piece of material just above the sole.
That material did not last my first hike with them, it tore on the lightest of impacts where I momentarily lost my footing and stumbled.
I hope that this isn't going to be the new norm from a company who I thought had far better quality than this.

Bought these to do some hiking, great comfort and grip, but at 8 months they started leaking, now they are no more waterproof than a pair of sneakers. Contacted Merrell, never heard back. Guess I'll go back to my Keens.

Have probably 8 pairs of Merrill. Fantastic Brand, dress shoes, boots, trail, walking, love the insole in all. This is the first pair that ran tight would suggest everyone try the wide. I have worn them for a few weeks off and on to hope they would break in or stretch no luck. Can not return due to wearing them. Next time not going to try an break in just send back.
