I went to my local REI and tried on an 8.5W in Danners, Columbias, and Keens. Columbia was the least comfortable of all of them but the cheapest so I returned home to order these as REI did not have the color/model I wanted. They are very true to size, I cannot believe the numerous reviews stating otherwise as I wear an 8.5 across the board in all brands. But, they felt like concrete. I know there is adjustment period and breaking shoes in especially leather but these were just over the top hard and didn't move with my foot at all. Most boots and shoes crease and bend at the base of the toes but not these, not even one slight little wrinkle. Also the sole is rock hard and very uncomfortable, even with my cushioned Smartwool hiking socks. I am returning and going with the pricier Danners. You get what you pay for, I should know this by now. The only thing these boots have going for them is they are cute, a cheaper version of the Danners.

This is a great hiking boot. I normally wear size 9.5 wide, I got 10 wide in this and it fit well.

Love the shoes but going with the warmer, insulated item I purchased in the same order. These would be great for Spring, Summer, Fall hikers or walkers on rugged terrain!

Well made, but not wide enough.

Always wore a 10 sometimes W. So that’s what I ordered first. Called an exchanged for a 10-1/2 W. Still didn’t fit. So I gave up. The form made me answer the star for “comfort”. I didn’t to give it “no stars”. But I have no idea if they would be comfortable if the were a right size

Phenomenal boots! I wore them with no break-in period, out of the box, hiking Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, upwards of 15 miles daily for a week. The only things that didn’t hurt at the end of the day were my feet! I wore them with thick wool hiking socks, which got a bit hot sometimes, but no blisters and comfy, dry, and warm. Too good for the price!

They were very uncomfortable, but I think it was just this pair. Since it was the only pair Zappos had, I got another pair from elsewhere. have other Columbia boots that I love and the second pair was like a whole different shoe. Those got a 5 in fit.

Exactly as described. Fit perfectly, no break - in necessary, which I have never experienced before. 100% recommend.

Very comfortable. Easy to break in. Good tread.

Liked these but had to send them back because I don't like the heavily padded tongue. It is so bulky that with my big ankles, it left a gap between the tongue and the side of the boot. Such a shame because I do like the look of the boot and it did feel comfortable on my foot. Just wish I could find a hiking boot without the padded tongue.

I have very high arches and plantar fasciitis. Switching to these boots has provided relief. I ordered the wide size and there's still enough room for an orthopedic insole even for someone with high volume feet/high arches.

Boots were great for training and held up well in dry conditions. I bought them for a trek across Peru. The first rainy day they got wet, my socks got wet and the weighed 2-3x their normal weight due to the water saturation. Made the rest of my trek miserable. NOT WATERPROOF!!

Love this boot! I put in my orthotic in the boot, it fit perfectly! plenty of room for my wide foot with bunions no pain! day one I wore them on a 4 mile hike

Super cute and comfy - was able to wear all day immediately, both hiking trails and city strolls.

Felt a little bigger and loser than past Newtons of same size, but still comfortable.

Felt tight around the ankles

I got a half size larger based on some reviews that said they ran big. They were just too long. The leather is soft and the boots felt comfortable, but the they didn't feel right where they hit my leg when walking. There is an obvious line where the support that stiffens the toe area ends and that might be a spot that wears more quickly or cause some pain with longer wear.

They felt great right out of the box. Good value!

My second pair - the first pair lasted 3 years of walking daily and was so comfortable & perfect for a wide foot. Love them! And love the quick delivery by Zappos

greato to find an actual hiking boot that fits my unusual size

I did not like the style of the shoe upon seeing it in person. It was really bulky, and did not look like a hoking shoe. There also was no support at all. Will be returning.
