I bought these boots because the posted measurements say the shaft circumference is 15.5". I have thick calves so I hoped that was the interior circumference. It wasn't, at least not for a size 8. Size 8 circumferences: 15.25" outside of boot 14.5" inside I couldn't get these boots all the way on, so I don't know if the fit and width felt true, or if they were comfortable. The leather is beautiful. The style is so-so. There is nothing special about the foot, the thin harness/buckle is too little to add interest, but the top of the shaft has an appealing, modern style. My last pair of Frye boots lasted four years, with almost daily wear through the cool weather season (Nov-Mar). The leather became more beautiful with age, but I did have to have them re-soled twice. I only decided to give them away because they became too slouchy to wear comfortably. I had to pull them up often, despite my thick calves. My advice to any boot owner who wants to keep the shafts stiff is to hang them when not wearing, a lesson I learned too late.

Love the look. Like the way the leather wears BUT the left one creased right at my ankle bone and rubbed it raw. Even through a band aid. I have a high instep and so I was trying to put in an arch support but wasn't able to get my foot in the boot then. (The Cinderella step-sister problem!) So as much as I love them, I had to send them back. I don't know if I would use this review as a reason not to buy though. They may work perfectly for you and I would have LOVED to have kept them

The fit and size perfect. The boot amazing, I am tall 5'10, the calf height was perfect! Soft leather, super comfy. I have gotten lots and lots of compliments. Love love love xoxox

Love These Boot. This is my 4th pair of Frye boots. These already have a broken in feel. Muscular legs, I am more comfortable in wider bot shafts. These are perfect. Great Frye quality,

I though the quality of the leather was to hard for the price of the boot, and the dye on the leather didn't seem permanent. I felt that these boots would not stand up over time to normal wear and tear as every crease in the boot left the boots color effected. While the style was beautiful, and I really loved the look, the quality left much to be desired. Sadly I had to return this purchase

I wanted to like this boot so much. I have a high arch and couldn't get my left foot in It's possible they would have broke in and the leather would have softened but I couldn't take the risk.

These are lovely, well-made boots. They are typical Frye - meaning the boot shaft is very narrow - 15" circumference listed felt pretty accurate to me. These are also tall (it's in the name - lol). I'm 5'9" so they fit just below my knee but they may be too high for some women. I couldn't decide colors online so I ordered both the cognac washed antique and the brown (intending to send one back). The cognac is more of a caramel color and the leather is very supple so it may slip down as the day goes on. The brown is a reddish brown with a stiffer leather which I preferred. Hope this helps.

These boots are EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for. They are comfortable right out of the box and smell amazing!! I have slender calves and these don’t gap or make me look oddly skinny. I’m 5’8 and they come right below my knee. They are classic and the leather is so soft. I can wait to dress them up.

This boot is beautiful but without tabs on this top of the boot it was impossible to get on. Unfortunately I had to send it back.

Very narrow and hard to get on. You need to have super skinny calves and narrow feet to wear these. The style is cute, and I loved the vintage veg tan color, but the leather looks and feel cheap, almost like plastic. One of the buckles on the pair I received was kind of chewed up with globs of glue sticking out of it. Unfortunately, these are going back.

I loved the look of these boots but they were sooo difficult to slip on and were a little tight in the toes. Im not sure yet if I will give a 6 a try...

The description said the shaft was more than 17" and it is less than 16". If they were actually as long as stated I would have kept them, but I am 6 ft tall and I need the longest shaft possible. Other than that they are beautiful and comfortable.

Beautiful boot! However, the calf was way too skinny. I couldn’t get it up my leg and I’ve never had a calf sizing problem with boots. Additionally, they were really narrow and the back of the boot dug into my heel. It’s a shame, because they are beautiful! But they fit really weird vs. the average boot.

I had to size up half a size to just get the boot on -- the ankle is extremely narrow. I have high arches, so I could barely get my tall foot into the boot. There is no side zipper, unlike Frye's other Melissa boots. A ton of yanking was needed to just get the boot on. I returned these because the shoe / horn is very fitted, but the calf is baggy and unfitted. I have two other pairs of Frye Melissa boots that I like much much more than this style. I disliked how difficult it was to get the boot on and even once it was on, the shoe was extremely tight. The baggy calfs made them look like pirate boots. Very disappointed.

They run big but they’re a beautiful boot. They were insanely slippery right out of the box. I walked on wet grass and fell down immediately. I recommend those traction stickers for the bottom.

Love this boot! Had to order a half size up to wear socks comfortably with them. The leather and workmanship very fine!

These are gorgeous boots. Sizing was spot on. The leather quality is beautiful.

These boots are exceptionally well made down to the working buckle around ankle that could actually be removed if you wanted to have an alternate look. The leather is super soft, rich looking and smelling. Because of this, it does mark/scratch easily. This doesn’t bother me as I believe it will just create an authentic distressed look over time. Putting a boot conditioner on does buff out the marks a bit as well. They fit my build as if custom made. I don’t have skinny calves but they aren’t large either. However I can understand they could be tricky if calves are larger because there isn’t any extra room once they are on. My only wish is that they had pull tabs inside. Surprising that they don’t given the great craftsmanship. The photos don’t do the boot justice in my opinion. They look much richer in person. Including photos for sense of my build (5’4”)and boot fit.

Perfect. Easy to slip on and off. I have average calf and can wear jeans with them very easily. Size 9. Am 5’8”. These are very soft and beautiful.

The quality of those boots is outstanding. Same for the craftsmanship and finish. This is a pair of boots that you should be able to keep for many years. They are very comfortable even if worn many hours. You can walk with those and be completely fine (not stiff) Since those are pull-on boots, they should be snug but not loose. Best maybe to try a pair at a local store. There is always the possibility to have the boots stretched by a professional shoe cobbler in case they are a bit too tight especially in the calf area. in the pics, size is 9.

I was a little worried about the size after reading some of the reviews, but these boots fit perfectly & I don’t have any problem getting them on. Size 8 Height 5’7” “Normal” calves for my height/weight They come up to about an inch or so below my knee with a 2 finger gap between leg & boot with jeans on

Too small in the calf. Great quality though!
