These babies are sweet! Just what my picky feet had been searching for! We live in SW Colorado and hike a couple hundred miles each summer. I had switched to a backpacking boot to see if I'd get more miles out of them over a lightweight. My feet were pissed, after all 40 miles. My husband forced me, thankfully, to overnight a new pair and all my trail runner friends wear Altra's. I decided to give them a try and I'm in love. So much comfort, it's crazy. They are super light and I never had soaked socks. Put 20 miles on them in 3 days with no complaints. I have never owned a wide toe box shoe but may never go back- the toe spread is super helpful hiking downhill for added balance.

I have neuromas in both my feet so I am constantly trying to find shoes that are wide enough and flat enough to not cause the neuromas to flare up causing that annoying pebble in your shoe feeling or numbness in my toes. In summer, I purchased two other pairs of Altras: the Intuition 3.5 and the Olympus 2, both are size 10. Altra shoes have been great for my problem feet. They are very wide in the toe box so there is no lateral compression of my toes and they are zero drop so no additional weight on my forefoot. Given that I walk the dog every day, now that it is cold and snowy/slushy, the two pair that I already own are too meshy to be warm enough, and let it too much water if the sidewalks aren't dry. The Altra Peak 3 Mid Neoshell definitely keep my feet dry and with a moderately thick pair of wool socks, my feet are toasty for all but the coldest mornings with temps below zero. I did find that the Peak 3 Mid Neoshell runs just a bit larger/longer than the other Altras I own so I ended up going down a half size to a 9.5.

I've run/hiked over 300 miles in this shoe. It is definitely the most comfortable trail runner/hiking shoe I have owned (and I have had a LOT of them). I get a nice natural toe splay and I may run faster in them. I've noticed change in the musculature of my legs since I started wearing them. The negatives- I haven't found them to be fully waterproof as promised. It's a bit better with running gaiters on so I always wear those. Water does start to leak in if it's rainy or the snow is deep. Some of the outer shoe is cracking and that area is leaking too. They were expensive and it's a bummer to have problems 300 miles in, however, I will probably wear them until they fall apart. My feet just love them. I bought a 1/2 size up. I tried my usual size and found them too snug when I wore them around the house for a day.

I ordered this men's shoe even though I'm a woman because I have wide feet and men's shoes often run a little wider. I really like the width on this shoe, but in the end kept a pair of women's Altras because the toe box on this one is shaped kind of differently. It felt very good, but the women's was also very wide and felt good and looked a little better. Also, the Neoshell is really ugly and cheap looking, so the pair I kept is not waterproof, but looks a lot better. Here's hoping my feet don't get wet. The Atra are nice and cushy, but I'm not sure they'll be as supportive as my Sportivas or Merrels on long hikes. But again, wide feet, so I need a wider hiking shoe now. I really love Hokas, but the hiking shoes were more narrow than my Hoka running shoes, so can't use them.

I actually like these better than the new, updated version 4 (which is also fine). These feel like they have more cushioning. I've tried many brands for hiking, including custom made. The Altra Lone Peak is a dream!

Although I have only worn them twice (right away!) my feet are very happy. I wear Altra for running dog agility and they keep my swollen-toe-putting-off-surgery joint very happy. I needed something with more ankle support for herding and tracking and wondered if Altra made such a thing. VOILA!

These altras ran true to size (others ran small). I had issues with my Merrill boots (sore big toe and blister on little toe). These boots solved that problem. Where we hike is VERY dusty and because these are water resistant, the dust does not get in which is a huge plus. (I have the Olympus 3 shoes and tons of dirt/dust get in through the mesh). These may be too toasty in the hottest part of the summer since they are vented.

While I usually wear an 8.5, I have Altra Olympus running shoes in size 9, so I ordered these in size 9 and they were much too big. Interestingly, the insole is the exact same size and shape in the size 9 running shoe and the size 9 hiking boot, but the boot was much roomier (I think made for a higher volume foot). So I changed the boots for 8.5 and they fit beautifully! I add a birkenstock arch support. Have not worn them hiking yet but looking forward to doing so!

I did a 9 day Trek in Bhutan in June 2018, that included several 15K foot plus passes. I chose to bring the Lone Peak 3.0 Neoshell and 3.5 Mesh as my shoes for the trek. Both were great. On muddy trails I wore the 3.0 Neoshell and on dry day the 3.0 Mesh. What a great combination to have on this adventure.

Wore them, right out of the mailbox, on an 8 mile+ hike in the mountains of Big Bend. Had one small red area, but only because 1 foot slipped into a stream, and I had to walk about 7 miles with a wet boot and wet socks. Wore them with the wool Injingi socks and the combination was WONDERFUL!!! I have a Morton's Neuroma and was able to hike like a champ! LOVE THESE BOOTS!!!

I became an Altra convert this summer, going through two pairs of trail shoes and miles and miles of trail. Switching to Altras resolved a lot of ankle, knee and hip problems I was having, and I'm convinced it's because of the way they allow my feet to work. So, when I was needing a new pair of winter hiking boots (after joint problems re-emerged with a switch to a different brand), I decided to give their boots a try as well. I was a bit worried as the boots are pretty light and low, but I can now say they keep my feet warm and toasty in cold conditions, and are just as comfortable as the trail shoes. I even used them on snowshoes yesterday, and with gaiters over them my feet stayed warm and dry. These are perfect for cold weather hikes, walking the dog in snowy conditions, etc. They look great too. Thank you Altra!

I bought these Lone Peak 3 Mid Neoshells for a trip to Iceland. They turned out to be more comfortable than the other Altra shoes I recently bought. I have osteoarthritis so I need the extra room in the toe box and have only just discovered Altra. We were wet a lot from rain, wind, and the spray from countless waterfalls. It was hard to avoid getting parts of me wet, but in these Lone Peaks at least my feet were dry and comfy. I didn't do a lot of hiking, but I spent long days in these high-tops with no complaints. My feet didn't give me any grief at the end of the day, and that's saying a lot. I usually wear a size 6 or 6.5 but after my prior experience with Altra sizing I tried size 7 and that fit great. They were roomy enough for nice thick warm socks. I even wore 2 pair of thin socks with no trouble.

I love these boots. This is the first pair of hiking boots I've owned that fit. My heels don't slip up with every step. And the outside of my feet aren't killing me by mile 3. They are grippy and flexible making my hike up 1250 ft to Chaos Crags in Lassen Volcanic National Park a dream even when hopping around the loose rocks. The arches aren't too tall and the shoes are more flexible than your average metal shanked, super high arch, completely stiff hiking boot. Granted, I'm not planning to use them for multi-day heavy backpack trip. I wanted more protection for my ankles on long day hikes (2 to 18 miles usually) and they work exceptionally well for that. I have rather wide feet with somewhat low arches. I do have quite flexible feet and love being able to move my feet in these shoes. If you need a different kind of hiking boots, these are amazing. I can't wait to see how they handle hiking and crawling down lava tube caves tomorrow.

I love that Altras are available through women's size 12 (my size). These boots are comfortable and do the job. The top area under the laces is a bit spongy for my taste and the highest lace holes are impossible to use, but otherwise I'm totally happy.

I have some hammer toes and some crooked toes and have purchased several pairs of different styles of trail shoes and mid-boots over the past two years, all of which have caused severe metatarsal pain in both feet. I recently purchased these Altra Womens Lone Peak 3.0 Neoshell mid-boots online from Australia. The day after and they arrived I hiked 20kms in them - BLISS! The thickness of the supportive sole helped to reduce the metatarsal pain, and the wide toe box allowed me to use my correct toes orthotics. I highly recommend these mid-boots to anyone who loves hiking but experiences toe and metatarsal pain. Thank you Altra.

Great addition to my Altra collection. However, this one runs true to size while I wear .5 size larger in the Lone Peak 3. Altra makes great shoes but needs to be more consistent in their sizing.

I am unable to run anymore, but I love these shoes! There is room for my bunion, the high top gives ankle support, and now I am able to walk for miles in comfort! I love all the Altra's I have tried because of the comfort of the wide toe box. Best shoes I have come across and I love the bright colors when I can get my favorite shoes in red, orange, hot pink, blue etc. Keep 'em coming Altra! :-)

I've had at least 5 pairs of Altras but these are the first boots I've tried. I do have an older low cut pair of Lone Peaks which I have almost worn out. Altra seems to have gone back to the original sizing so I was able to wear an 11 instead of a 12. The width is excellent and allows me to wear them with the CorrectToes toe spacers. I had worn them around town for several weeks and finally am on vacation where the ground is not covered with feet of snow so I can do some hiking. I've found them very comfortable for the short hikes I've done. The soles are excellent on rocky terrain and the cuffs are comfortable but supportive. I've not gotten them wet so no comment on that. I recommend these if you are looking for a boot with a wide toe box. They do have more arch support than my other Altras but I have not removed the insole as I wanted to trial them as is.

I bought these thinking they would be good for cold weather walking. I tried them on my treadmill first and they were very comfortable on my feet, except for rubbing on the ankle. I love my other Altra shoes, but this higher top won't work for me. I will try the low top Lone Peak!

I hiked 410 miles of the Colorado Trail in the original Altra Lonepeak 2.5. Loved them. NO blisters. Thought I would try this model for wet, short hikes. These live up to the Lonepeak model. The wider toebox is essential for a good fit for me. Excellent trail shoe.

Yes, no ache bunions! I need a wider toe box, these also have plenty of cushioning at the cuff so do not chafe. I like the metal eyelets at the top of the shoe, i think they will look good, and last a long time.
