Thank you Zappos for letting me try so many boots before settling on this pair! These felt a good half to whole size smaller than marked. Usually an 8. Tried on a 9 in a store and it fit (I've never worn a 9 in my life!). Ordered the 8.5 here and it's a keeper. These are narrow though not tight, but I have wide feet with bunions so your mileage may vary. Insoles are removable for orthotics, yay. The tops are little stiff at first but I feel them loosening up. In the meantime,, I just don't lace them all the way up. These feel very springy when you walk, but they also feel very flat so heads up if flat shoes bug you. Only downside is the laces aren't staying tied so double knotting for now. Haven't tested the waterproof-ness yet.

I'm bummed about these. I thought I finally found that "perfect" trekking/hiking/city/travel shoe! I wore them around the house to make sure they were comfortable. With that said, after 2 days of wearing them, my feet were blistered, angry and hurt. I bought them specifically to trek through Ireland (city and mountains and rain) I did not feel 100% trusting of the grip on the mountain. City and rain was fine. I do not feel these are 100% waterproof, my feet felt damp after being in the rain and puddles...maybe the shoes? maybe not? I highly suggest ordering 1/2-1 size larger. I wore these with thick hiking and socks and I was in so much pain for how tight these were on my feet. If I could return them for a larger size I definitely would; alas, these are already muddy and broken in so I'm stuck with them. Shoot!

I listened to the other reviewers and ordered half a size up (a 10, instead of my usual 9.5). I am now exchanging for a 9.5, as I found the 10 large and very wide, even though I also tried it on with thicker socks. My feet are not technically a narrow, but probably more on the slender side. I'm hoping that the 9.5 works, as this seems to be a well made hiking show for a super reasonable price.
