Definitely sized more as a Large than an Extra Large. I wish it fit my head, but I've got a 7 5/8 in sized noggin and it was a bit of a tight fit. Love the material, appears to be a waterproof type material.

The hat is very durable and made from high-grade materials. It's somewhat stiff -- much like a cowboy hat, you wouldn't want to fold it or smash it into a bag or suitcase. Water rolls right off it, and sun is obviously stopped dead. It has a nicely disguised vent in the top that makes it feel breathable. It's fairly stylish for a hat this functional and protective. Sun, rain, bugs, and branches stand no chance.

I really like this hat. I haven't found any other one like it on the market. It's made of very sturdy fabric, has a brim that is appropriately stiff (but not overly stiff), and has a nice vented panel on the back of the head. I'm glad I bought it, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one yourself.

Very happy with the hat. It has quality materials and looks good. It's reminiscent of a leathery hat, but it's more breathable and lighter. Although you wouldn't want to completely crush it in a bag or suitcase, you don't have to worry much about preserving the shape.

It's a well made, beautiful hate...HOWEVER, those of you out there with large heads, the LG/XLG is not very big! I wear a 7 5/8" and this hat was not even close! Sadly, I had to return it!

It will work well for my summer hikes or out on the kayak. Looks good and fits well. Would buy again.

This hat is perfect for the outdoor person, I keep my hair very short and need a hat to protect my scalp, also my face and neck. Also if I drop the hat in the lake no worries it floats.

The sun hat fits perfect and love the way it looks

I wear this hat while volunteering on our gray whale, census project; we track their migration each year. I wear this hat as a naturalist in the American Cetacean Society, while at our Interpretive Center and on whale watching boats. In addition, I will be photographed wearing this hat when I touch beautiful gray whales who migrate each year to San Ignacio Lagoon, Baja, Mexico. This hat will be famous, appearing on every page of my Shutterfly photo book. It is a perfect hat for me and for my fellow 'citizen scientists'.

This is a great looking hat. Functional and stylish. I bought it for my husband and it keeps the sun off of his face and neck. It has a ventilation panel on the back side so that your head doesn't get too hot. My husband had fairly large heat and the L/XL fits perfectly.

Nice hat. However, the sizes seem to run a little small. I have a slightly large head, and their largest size is just large enough for me.

Bought for my husband, style was nice, but too large for him, so will be returning. We bought a different 7-1/8 size hat that DOES fit him.

Great little gift for my fishermen

I'm a fan of the wide brim to keep the sun of ears/neck fly fishing. On windy days you need the chin strap which are not my favorite. Great hat/ good price.

I got the hat for a weekend backpacking trip. Our hike is mostly exposed to the sun, so I was looking for a wide brimmed hat that I could also use when in the water. The hat was a little on the tighter side, but snug enough that it is still comfortable.

Too big

Tested this hat out for the first time hiking Mt. Whitney. Sunscreen was a must on my neck and face as this hat doesn't offer as much coverage as other hats, but I love the style and look versus the floppy sun hats. Just wish TNF would make their hats a little larger, I don't have an oversized head, but from their beanies to ball caps I find I wish the L/XL sizes had just a little more room.

I was looking for a cute sun hat, and this definitely wasn’t it. I felt like one of the black hats in Westworld. The sizing was fine for my large head.

I expected a brown hat and got something that looks like olive green. Despite the hat being L/XL, it would not fit me lol

I ordered this hat and liked the style and comfort but it was too large for me. No problem given Zappo's easy return policy. I did the paperwork and was ready to return the hat through UPS. However, it was July 4th holiday weekend so I waited until Monday to return the hat through UPS. In the meantime I reordered the hat in a smaller size (it only comes in S/M and L/XL) and it came on Monday. It fortunately came before I went to the UPS store. Silly me, I thought the replacement hat would be similar quality and be shipped in a similar size box. The replacement hat came in a box half the size of the first hat. Of course the hat was smashed but it also left what appears to be a permanent crease in the front top of the hat. It also came without the chin strap inserted--unlike the original--and has a small place in the peak of the hat that is disfigured. The problem of hats being crease in shipping was a problem frequently mentioned in Amazon reviews. I thought this could be avoided by ordering a hat from Zappos because of the higher quality and better shipping experience with previous orders from Zappos. I'm just going to give up and look somewhere else for a hat even this experience. The ratings are given for the final quality of hat after shipping.
